Lower passenger front ball joint corroded and broke in half. Luckily this happened backing out of a parking space . Somehow this VIN does not show on the f23 recall???.
On 7/10 I'm driving down the road towards the freeway. I hear a very loud pop that startles me. I pull over & discover lower ball joint has separated causing the lower control arm to slip out of socket into the wheel & than separate from wheel. I mean its still attached to the vehicle but vehicle is completely disabled. It caused significant damage to the right front wheel and somewhat minor damage to the right front fender. Theres literally metal shaving all over the road from it carving the metal out of my wheel. Get home and my boyfriend tells me that he's discovered 3 safety recalls. So we call fca (fiat Chrysler automobiles) they said they would have it towed to the dealership no problem but they needed a $103 for the tow that they would reimburse later. They told us to pick any dealership. So fca has it towed from my driveway on 7/13 at 8:45pm to lithia Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram of portland dealership. Safety recall f23 was replaced by the dealership but the manufacturer (fca) has not fixed the damage and is denying responsibility. Fca calls on 9/16 to finally tell us that a certified inspector has determined the damage to the wheel and fender is not from the recall. Which is a lie and I can take it to a mechanic and have that verified. They also go on to state they are not going to reimburse the $103 for the tow. So we go to the dealership to pick up the car the next day. I speak with will in the service department and ask to see a copy of the inspection that the fca is talking about. Will tells me that fca never sent an inspector out and there is no inspection report stating that the damage is not from the recall. I have lots of photos of everything. Please contact me.
Front lower control arm ball joints are worn on both sides an it's only the bottom ones. No safety hazard yet but I'm sure if it fails it will be scary. Multiple other vehicles made prior to the moth this one was manufactured had a recall on the lower ball joints. I believe this vehicle is also affected by faulty front lower control arm ball joints. No warnings an I've had excessive play in the ball joints for about about as long as I have had the vehicle but as I said it's only the lower front all other joints remain intact an in working order.
This websiite is showing 0 recalls for my vehicle when entering in the VIN#, yet I know there were at least 3. So is this not a reliable resource or what? I found the recalls doing a car facts check, yet this government website says thete are none.

Takata recall still waiting to be repaired.
Takata recall I am steadily burning through front drive shaft assemblies where it goes into the transfer case. The bearing head keeps failing by throwing the bearings through the assembly, I have owed the vehicle for 2 years and have replaced it twice with the same parts failing. The part seems to just go with no warning and when the assembly comes apart it would leave the front shaft spinning since the Jeep has full time locked hubs which could cause it to go through the floorboard or send bullet type projectiles through the assembly metal which could damage other components.

The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The VIN was invalid. The contact had not experienced a failure.
I have a few issues and questions. I purchased my Jeep thru navy exchange sales in 2003, new. I lived in singapore 2007-2013, all recalls posted for these years were not performed on my vehicle as the car was in storage and no one drove it. How can I get these previous years recalls completed for my 2003 Liberty Jeep? I currently have a outstanding recall from Nov 2015 that was reviewed by the Jeep dealer southern Jeep, located on military highway and I have yet to receive any feedback wrt the status of the repair, evaluation etc. . . My rear window defrost mechanism is inoperable; it has been repair about 5 times by Jeep dealers, it was a recall a few years back and guess what, it still doesn't work and the wire is just hanging there in a non-working status. Help! I'm a loyal Jeep owner, I have (2), this may change. . . . ? pls advise@: samuel. Fuller@navy. Mil.

There are 12 active recalls on my vehicle. I don't trust the vehicle. I want a replacement vehicle. Some recalls are "incomplete" and cannot be remedied right now. I have had very bad experiences with Jeep dealerships - they have repeatedly demonstrated that they were untrustworthy and either not doing the work they said they did or breaking something on my Jeep and charging me for it. I think they should replace my vehicle another vehicle that either has no recalls or one that has passed compliance. No accident yet. Do I really have to wait for an accident? 12 recalls?.

The support straps for the fuel tank failed suddenly after making a left turn. The fuel tank contacted the road surface for a short time (1 minute) before the vehicle could be stopped. The rear corner of the tank (passenger side) was damaged to the point that fuel leaked from the tank. Both support straps were broken after the incident. The tank was approximately 1/4 full prior to the incident. Both of the support straps failed near the bottom of the fuel tank. The remaining pieces of the support straps were still fastened to the frame and the fasteners were still in place after the incident. Both support straps were severely rusted. Although we are disappointed that this incident happened, we are grateful that no one was hurt. We realize the outcome could have been a lot worse.

Evening nb on I-15, semi in the way, 2003 Jeep Liberty 4x4, swerve to left to avoid truck, back to right to avoid car in lane, vehicle dove down on left front wheel and went end over end, then 3 complete rolls side to side. After 45 minutes I was cut out of vehicle. Vehicle was totaled.
Contact stated while driving the vehicle fish tailed. This, in turn, caused a minor accident. Repairs were made to the vehicle. This problem recurred. It usually happened when the road was wet or snow covered. He took the vehicle to a dealership to have the vehicle checked. They could not determine what was the cause of the problem.
I own a Jeep Liberty 2003(manufactured in apirl 2003). I have owned the car from January of 2004. Couple of weeks before(July 17th 2004)I was getting in to the freeway entry ramp, the car suddenly veered right and I tried to adjust it but the car veered violently to the left and spun a 360 and a partial 180 before I ended up on the other side of the freeway crossing 4 lanes of traffic. Fortunately, I did not get injured and the vehicle was not damaged nor did anybody else. I went on the internet later to find out that there was a major recall for the same incident for Jeep liberties that were manufactured till March of 2003 and mine is manufactured in apirl. The scary thing about this is I cannont predict when this can happen again and it has already happed twice after the above listed incident on normal roads.
I have a Jeep Liberty limited 2003 leased on October 2002. Ive had to bring the vehicle in for service seven times for the same problem and the dealer has not repaired it. The problem is that while driving at speeds anywhere from 30 - 65 and while trying to accelerate from a complete stop the vehicle will start to buck and hesitate, the speedometer will swing back and forth and the vehicle suddenly loses speed and then regains it. I've almost been hit by another vehicle on the palisades parkway on three separate occasions. The failure started on April 28,2004 at 32,000 miles it now has 34,600 miles and it has reoccurred after all seven times of going in for repair of same condition after the dealership at central Ave Chrysler Jeep in yonkers, claims to have repaired it. The dealership will not honor the warranty by properly repairing or replacing vehicle.
Vehicle pulls to the right at all times on any road surface. Vehicle has been taken to dealer 4 times since date of purchase (August 2003) with no resolution. Alignment has been check every time. Dealer claims to have adjusted the alignment more to the left in order to compensate the vehicle's pull to the right, but the problem still exists. The dealer rode in the vehicle and observed the problem. The dealer stated that older model Jeep Libertys tend to drive to the right, even when aligned properly. (this vehicle was manufactured in July 2002). This vehicle is difficult to drive because I must constantly pull the steering to the left in order to stay on the road, and I feel that I could lose control very easily.
Streering wheel vibration at speeds 58-70mph.
While driving 40 mph the vehicle vibrated. The dealer inspected the vehicle but could not duplicate or correct the problem.
While driving at any speed, the vehicle constantly pulled to the right. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The vehicle has been to the dealer three times for the same problem. The vehicle was also leaking oil from the oil pan. The mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the vehicle's pulling.
While driving at speeds around 5o & 80 the vehicle vibrates extremly bad, manufacturer is unsure of the cause of the problem, could this be safe to drive?.
