1 Front Suspension Wheel Bearing problem

The contact owns a 2003 Jeep Liberty. While driving 5 mph, the contact heard a loud noise coming from the front driver's area. The failure occurred without warning. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and noticed that the ball bearing snapped and the wheel bearing was approximately 90% detached. The vehicle was towed to the garage and was not taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

2 Front Suspension Wheel Bearing problem

Failure Date: 11/23/2007

I received the recall letter in the mail regarding the ball joints and I took my car to lynch Chrysler in chicago for repairs back in 2003 or 2004. I thought that took care of the problem, but in November of 2007 I was parking my Jeep Liberty and when I cut the wheel the wheel just fell off. I didn't have an accident or injuries, but I did have to report the incident to my insurance company because the damages to my car were over $1,700.

3 Front Suspension Wheel Bearing problem

Failure Date: 09/26/2006

: the contact stated while having recall work#06v288000 regarding suspension: front: control arm: lower ball joint performed on the vehicle, the dealer determined that the front axles and both wheel bearings needed to be replaced. The left axle was repaired, and when the front right axle was being repaired, it was noticed that the bolts in the axle were sheared and a lot of rust was present. There was no shaking or vibration prior to the incident. A representative at the dealership expressed that the manufacturer was contacted and determined that only 1 hour would be given to the dealer's mechanics to fix both sides. The vehicle was inoperable and was currently at the dealer.

4 Front Suspension Wheel Bearing problem

Failure Date: 03/02/2005

Nhtsa recall campaign 03v460000, after taking the vehicle to the dealer for a recall repairs consumer received a call from the dealer stating that there would be a cost of $3,300, to make repairs on the lower ball joint. Dealer contact: richard gordon. Vehicle was taken to dealer for lower ball joint recall repairs, however dealer found axle and bearings were frozen and needed to be replaced. Dealer did not honor recall and wanted to charge consumer $3,300. 00 for repairs.
