The rear passenger side window regulator failed again. Driving and the back window dropped without notice. This is a costly repair and its an ongoing problem . You need to make the mfg step up and make a permanent solution for a ongoing problem. I see you have had several complaints on the same issue. This is a safety issue as well.
The rear window regulators in the 06 Jeep Liberty are failing at an alarming rate. Ours has had both break once and the drives side twice now. I have contacted Jeep with my frustrations with zero help. There are countless claims online, with friends, acquaintances, and even my local Jeep dealer (easton, MD) that all support that this is not an isolated issue. I have again been told that there will be no recall because this is not a safety issue. I disagree strongly!! when driving down the highway and the window regulator fails, the window drops. What happens if there is something leaning up against the window, a child in that seat, a pet? the risks are huge to the safety of the vehicle occupants and others on the road should something fall out. The other thing that is very alarming is that everything is beginning to present itself at a similar time for the vehicles showing signs of the problem. Jeep claims it is due to plastic parts failing due to not enough use?? this makes no sense. To support my claim that this is an issue affecting a large number of people and clearly not an isolated issue, please see the web sites listed below. . Read more...
My car was parked, when the regulator for the back passengerã‚s side window broke causing the window to fall into the door. This is at least the 14 time one of the regulators has broken in my Liberty. This time I was lucky because my car was parked. There have been several times it has broken while driving which is a safety concern for my passengers. Jeep has not yet recalled the part even though they have acknowledged that the part is faulty.
Window regulator broke costing me $210. Chysler refused to reemburse me because my vehicle was made in December 2005 prior to the extention of the warranty for the same problem effective March 2006. Also, I am the third owner. This is a known factory defect and is not a wear issue or a maintenance problem. This should not happen period.
My 2006 Jeep Liberty's back driver's side window regulator is broken. The window will not stay up and falls down part way when you are driving and needs to be pulled back up manually when you stop. When you press the button for the window, you can hear the window motor running, but the window will not go up. This happened when the vehicle had just over 48,000 miles. This seems to be a very common complaint for the 2006 Jeep Liberty and an extended warranty has been issued by Chrysler to repair 2006 Jeep Libertys with this problem which were manufactured after March, 2006. My Jeep was manufactured in Feb. Of 2006. This window regulator warranty needs to be extended to all 2006 Jeep Libertys. According to comments on the internet, this repair can be $400 and up.
I purchased my 2006 Jeep Liberty in may 2011, however I have to windows that just stopped working. The windows just fail completely down without any warning one while I was driving which could have schatter and hurt my passenger. I contacted the chysler Jeep manufacture comppliant line but they were no help. I was given a phone number to a dealership and was told I have warranty on the windows that only cover the list plate (if that's the problem) for my back window only. The problem after researching it this morning on the internet is the regulators in the windows which are very costly to repair approx. $260 per window. In this economy I can't afford to repair this and I should not have to because there is some kind of mal-function with the parts inside of the windows. They need to recall these vehicles because owner of them will spend money repairing the same proble at least 3 to 4 times in one year.
The rear automatic windows on my 2006 Jeep Liberty fall down into the door panel and cannot be raised with the regulator. This happened to me while I was driving and forced me to drive on the highway with lowered windows. I have had the rear windows repaired for the same problem multiple times, and they continue to break, at times that are unsafe. It also prevents me from properly securing the vehicle from theft until I can get to the dealer and they can "repair" it with the same defective part over and over again.
Rear driver side power window dropped full open unexpectedly on 2006 Jeep Liberty; original owner of vehicle with 71,00+/- miles. Repaired at dealer(costly). From internet search appears this problem is systemic to 2006-2007 models and repeat failure not unheard of. . . Very scary at 65mph.
Drivers side rear window fell down while vehicle was parked.
This will be the fourth year that I have had to replace the rear driver side window mechanism in my 2006 Jeep Liberty. Each year, the mechanism has failed while my vehicle was parked and not running (August 2007, June 2009, July 2010, June 2011). I have been told there is a recall for some models of Jeep's to fix this problem but not for my VIN group. I feel this is a safety issue as I cannot secure my vehicle while I am away and someone would be able to get into my vehicle and could be waiting for me to come back. Also, the integrity of the interior is compromised if an accident would occur due to the window not being up. The window mechanism has been replaced each year but with the same part. No modifications have been done to help ensure this problem will not happen again. I have called Jeep customer service and was told to use this website to lodge my complaint. My local dealerships have been very helpful with resolving this problem each year.
Abs, esp, brake light, battery and check engine light, come off and on I have took it to Jeep at two different locations, neither place has been able to resolve my problem, I even drove with tech in the car, he saw the light come on and was unable to determine the cause.
My mother bought a used 2006 Jeep Liberty has never had a problem,so in March of 2010 me and my husband decided to purchase a used 2006 Jeep Liberty from a trusty car dealer. Within 2 months of having this Jeep our right rear window dropped into the door as we were driving to a family function. My biggest fear was that 1 of our 3 kids could have been hurt by broken glass. My father repaired the window by wedging a piece of wood between the door and the window. I later called Jeep who told me there was no recall on this Jeep and that they would gladly split the cost with me which only cost $600 per window and they won't warranty because they know it will happen again. I left it alone cause we could not afford this at the time. A few months later in November 2010 the left side rear window slipped, once again my father repaired it at best he could. I finally went online to see what I could do repair the problem myself at a cheaper cost. I came across a web site steigers. Com the gentleman who owns this company has created a replacement peice for the broken part and it works great. I replaced it myself with no knowledge of repairing cars. The only hard part was working in such a tight space. . Thank god my hands are small enough to squeeze in between the door and the window area. The part is about a $100 with shipping and handling and so far seems to have solved the problem it took about an hour to do all the work on 1 window. Thats not our only problem with this lovely vechile we have also had problems with the fuel spilling out when filling the tank. The tank seems to build pressure or catch air. I dont know all I know is it scared me really bad the first time. And we have also had problems with the esp especially when you hit a turn to hard or hit a big bump. How wonderful a 4x4 vechile who doesnt like big turns, bumps or snow. And the most expensive part is the broken window. . They told me its called a binding crack it happens to all Jeeps so dont force your Jeep to do its job. . And work.
At 43305 miles, I had to replace the main bearing oil seal. The cost was $556. 91. At this low mileage, this seal should not fail.
2006 Jeep Liberty. Esp/bas lights . Problem does not register on computer. Hundreds of other people with same problem. Bas module is the problem. Why is there not a recall on this.
In July 2009 the left, rear passenger window in my Jeep Liberty fell down by itself. In Dec. 2010 the right rear passenger window in the same vehicle fell down by itself during a snow storm causing approximately 6 inches of snow to accumulate in my vehicle. These are windows that are rarely used. Both the service manager and customer service reps at Chrysler advised me that there is a faulty window regulator in the Jeep vehicles which causes this problem, but no recalls have been made.
The 2006 Jeep Liberty window regulators continue to fail. I have had to repair the driver side window regulator twice, the left window regulator once and the right regulator twice. The first three repairs were covered under warranty, the fourth one I had to request re-imbursement from Jeep which was granted after correspondence with Jeep. The fifth time I am still negotiating with Jeep. They are aware of the issue as there have been many complaints with the same issue.
On my way home from work. . . With my 1 year old in the back seat. . The rear passenger window fell down and would not go up. My husband took it apart and we discovered that the window regulator had failed. . Luckily it was not raining. . And the window did not break. . I did some research trying to locate a part and you have to replace the whole component which costs an average of $145 instead of the plastic clip that probably costs about $1. 00. It was also brought to my attention that this is a very common problem in Liberty's and I was appalled that even new vehicles were having these problems! in my 10 minute search 20 people reported about having to replace this part several times in more than one window! Chrysler should really change something so this product doesn't fail so often in so many vehicles! some day someone will be injured because of this part malfunctioning. Luckily it was not my son!.
I own a 2006 Jeep Liberty each all of my window regulators have broken atleast once in the last 3yrs. My back driver side window has broken twice and my front passengar side window has broken twice. This causes the window to fall and cannot be held up.
Rear window felll down. Was told the regulator is bad. I now see this is a very common problem with the Jeep Libertys. I have a 2006 Jeep Liberty.
Power windows of Jeep Liberty 2006 4x4 failed a second time. After driving on highway I realized that rear window on passenger side slid down into door and could not be pushed up again. This had happened the first time in July 2008 and was repaired under warranty. The window regulator was replaced. The failing of the power windows is a safety issue. The car can not safely left alone closed because the window always will slide down without warning-> rain damage, theft. Load can get damaged or fall out of the car, kids or pets can get hurt. The dealership states that the whole window assembly needs to be exchanged ($750) although the window is not damaged. This failure of the window regulators is common on 2006 and older models. Jeep has to do a recall and provide reliable and safe power windows on Liberty 2006 and older models.
Jeep Liberty renegade 2006 - broken window regulator 3x in 3 year. I bought this Jeep brand new and each year, the window comes off the track--in 3/07, 8/08, and now 10/09.
Two weeks after purchasing a 2006 Jeep Liberty, the rear left window dropped and could not be rolled up or down. It was repaired under warranty. The next time it was the right rear window and it cost $429. 26. Three weeks later the rear left window dropped again. This time we contacted Jeep/Chrysler and were told that although the warranty for this problem had been extended for the 2006 Jeep Liberty that mine was not included because it was built in October/2005. The agent said nothing could be done and there was no one else to talk to - it was a final decision. I called back and was told that the previous customer service agent didn't follow procedure and was "stunned" at the way I was treated and I was then assigned a case number and a case manager. There have now been 14 phone calls and nothing has been resolved. This is a safety issue. Small children ride in the back seat that could get out of safety restraints and be in danger. The vehicle cannot be locked up and secured and it's scary to have to get inside an unsecured vehicle at night. The interior is being destroyed by constantly being rained and snowed upon in a region of the country that has more cold and wet weather than anything else. Jeep refuses to acknowledge that there are hundreds of complaints on the internet about this problem, no standard policy being followed by Jeep to get this manufacturer's defect fixed, and no recall for a problem that happens over and over again on the same vehicle. If Jeep will not fix this problem with their product, then consumers should unite a file a class action lawsuit because the way Jeep is handling this is just plain wrong.
Numerous mechanical problems all dash lights come on at once between 15 - 50 mph dealer replaced body control module lights still come on now has more problems after repair by dealer. Several recalls on this leased vehicle running up miles back 2 dealer rear window fall down repaired motor tried 2 quit 3 times could be dangerous in traffic seems it loses prime on fuel system . Also excessive tire wear on front tires had it aligned myself was out from factory 10 deg. I have no confidence in dealer 2 fix since I have more problems after last visit. Horn doesn't sound on key pad door lock and fog lights stay on at highbeam after electrical work. Vehicle has locked me out when I shut doors 4 no apparent reason switch keys in ignition and motor running.
I would like to make a complaint about parkway Chrysler Dodge and Jeep dealer. I have a recall on my vehicle and I called them back in July of 2007, the said that they had to place an order on the part and it could take up to a month. Two month passed and I called them and they told me that it still isn't it and that they would call me when it was ready. This has been going on back and forth since July 2007 and now its Jan 2008 and I am getting another recall notice in the mail. I have had other issues with them too.
Windows falling into door. Since I purchased the vehicle, all of the windows at one time or another have fallen into the door, some of them 2 times. I have has them fixed 7 times. Window regulator needing to be replaced.
The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Liberty. The contact received a recall notice in December of 2006 (f23). Since then, she has been unable to have her vehicle serviced. The dealer stated that nothing can be done because the parts are unavailable. She has notified various dealers in the area and they have provided the same response. The contact stated that the recall notice only has f23 on it and does not specify what is being recalled. She asked the dealer what the defect pertains to and they stated that no additional information was available. The current mileage is 6,000 and failure mileage was 3,000.
This problem with the window regulators has been an ongoing problem since we bought this car new. The dates of repair are as follow from newest to oldest, 10/10/11,10/22/10,9/30/10,8/10/09,3/13/08,12/11/07,4/10/07,4/5/07,3/16/07,1/24/07,11/07/06,11/03/06. We have taken this car to the dealer this many times for the same problem. We have never paid a penny for the repairs. The manufacturer is now asking us to pay 100$ saying is is a warranty issue. The problem is that they know they have a defective part but cannot fix it. They have recalled on some models of this car. Ours is not included in this recall. This trip for us to take this car in for the initial check is 230 miles then we have to wait for the authorization of repairs to take it back is another 230 miles. It is not reasonable for us to pay for the manufacturers faulty parts. We are out of pocket 12 times for the time and gas to go over there. This window regulator is defective and when it snaps the window rod breaks jams the door locking mechanism the door then will not stay closed or it will not open. We are also filing claims with the consumer affairs and national transportation safety board.
From the date I picked up the car, the brakes gave off a "moan". This is a recognizable noise, as a brake problem. This occurs mostly in colder weather but is loud and particularly evident when I first take the car out of the garage in the morning when backing up. I have had it back to the dealer at least 5 times for this problem. The dealer has worked with the manufacturer, changes the components to no avail. The manufacturer has washed their hands of the problem but the noise is still there.
