I was driving home with my wife and 7 month old baby in her car seat while driving, all of a sudden the rear passenger side window completely drops inside the door. I'm very upset about this due to if the window would've broke or shattered it could've hurt our new born baby. I have since looked online and have seen thousands of similar cases with the same problem (2006 Jeep Liberty). I don't know why Chrysler has not recalled this problem with the windows when soo many people are having the same re-occurring issue. Im stuck now with a bill from the dealer due to the warranty does not cover the whole cost of the repair which they explained that I need to replace the motor, window regulator also the glass. Keep in mind I jus purchased this vehicle in January 4 months later im already having problems.
Drivers side rear window falls down.
On 3/20/10 the front passenger side window fell down while car was parked with dog inside in a snow storm in parker, CO. My dog jumped out and was recovered by animal control. Several items in my Jeep were covered in snow/ice including paperwork and official forms for for my work that has since been ruined due to water damage. This is the 5th time I have experienced issues with window regulators in this same vehicle. In August of 2009, the rear dirver's side window had to be replaced. At this time Chrysler told me that defective parts were being used in Libertys but there is no recall and the replacement option was to replace the entire glass and regulator. In December of 2009, the drivers side window began rolling up crooked and was replaced. The passenger window is yet to be replaced as I am waiting on a response from Chrysler to see if they will cover the $500. 00 repair cost since this is a recurring problem.
I was driving on 295 in baltimore, MD during rush hour when my driver's side rear window started to fall. This is the 6th time I have had a regulator problem, second time for this window. I almost hit the car in front of my because it caught me off guard. I went to the dealership and sure enough its the regulator except this time they aren't just replacing the regulator but the glass too. I really wanted another Jeep but since I keep having the same problem that isn't going to happen. Jeep needs to issue a recall, everyone in the dealership said this is an ongoing problem. If they know it is a problem; they need to do something about it. They need to do something before someone dies from it. It is extremely distracting. It also reduces your visibility when you have to duct tape your window shut.
2006 Jeep Liberty power windows fall into the door. Requires new regulator and window glass installed. All four windows in my vehicle have failed in the past 14 months since purchasing the vehicle. Dealer replaced 3 under warranty, but the 4th happened 132 miles outside of warranty. Dealer says Chrysler will not fix under warranty. This is a very well known problem that has affected practically all 2006 Jeep Libertys according to the service manager at my dealership.
The window regulator on the front driver's side window suddenly broke while driving as I was rolling up the window, causing the window to crack while halfway down. This is the second time this has happened. Last time it was on a left, rear window. I brought it to tyson's Jeep in virginia and they said it is a known problem but not part of a recall. They replaced the regulator and the glass, costing me approximately $500. The parts were available, but are of the same design, so the problem could reoccur at any time.
I drive a 2006 Jeep Liberty (4 door). Both windows on both backseat passenger doors fell into the doors on more than two occasions in the last 6 months. The glass windows fall into the doors and will not come back up.
This is to report a faulty part on the window regulator. Three times mine has failed. Twice the left rear window has fallen into the door due to a regulator which was faulty and on the third occasion is was the right rear window that fell. Lucky for me, I was stopped when my windows dropped. When the part fails, the glass just falls down into the door. The cost to repair is $750. At the dealer because you must replace the whole regulator, you cannot replace just the fifty cent part. The alternative which most people do is to tape the window glass up which obscures the vision and is a safety hazard. This is a chronic problem that Jeep has known about for years. Imagine a mother driving with a child in the rear car seat in a heavy rainstorm and passes a tractor trailer at normal speeds. The window fails and falls. You then have heavy rain and debris coming into the rear window. The mother panics as she is concerned about what is happening to her child and veers into the tractor trailer. These vehicles need to be recalled immediately. The faulty plastic slides need to be redesigned and replaced with a metal slide with neoprene guides. I am not the only one with this problem - a simple internet search will yield hundreds of other individuals who have encountered this problem. I have saved the parts from my door if you wish to inspect them.
The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the driver side rear and passenger side rear windows fell suddenly although no one touched any buttons to open them. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the seals were not intact. The failure mileage was unknown. The current mileage was approximately 54,000.
(1) this vehicle has been recalled numorous times for various problems. (2) twice in the last 2 months, the back windows have come off the track and slid into the door.
In July of last year (2006), I leased a 2006 Jeep Liberty. Approximately 2 months later, one of my windows slipped down. I took it in for repairs. Since then (16 months later), I have been in the repair shop for this exact reason 5 more times. My parents have the exact same vehicle, same year, and they are on their 6th window as well. After talking to the repair shops we both go to, we have found that this is a common occurrence. Jeep has been contacted by us and by others. They are well aware of the problem. I believe that this is a safety issue on so many levels because the vehicle is vulnerable if the window is not up.
The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Liberty. The contact noticed that both of the rear windows were down and would not roll back up. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they stated that the regulators needed to be replaced. There were no warnings prior to the failure. The current mileage was 9,699 and failure mileage was 50. Updated 10/14/08 the consumer stated the regulators were replaced twice. Updated 10/23/08.
