12 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 07/30/2011

Left rear window fell down while car was parked. Dealer service said the regulator was ok but the lift plate was broken. Yet again, this is a door that has not been used in the last 4 weeks at a minimum. Chrysler service rep who took inital call said that he gets lots of calls for this on 2005 & 2006 models. He went on to say that most of the time is it in doors that are seldom used. Chrysler case manage stated that Chrysler is under no obligation to address this issue even though they know it is a manufaturer defect. Not only is this a safety issue, it is a security issue.

13 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 06/13/2011

My Jeep Liberty 2006 has huge window issues- already have had 2 regulators replaced and working on the third- Jeep says they will only fix the window lift plate, but it's the whole regulator that's bad and they refuse to fix it- if I have it fixed, it's over $300 per window, and charged me a $90 diagnostic fee to tell me this- when is a recall going to be issued? not a safety issue?! tell that to those of us with small children in the back seat and a window falls down @ 55 mph! Jeep needs to replace all four window regulators and at their cost, not mine! and not just the lift plates! it's only good buisness, especially when I've already paid over $20,000 to Jeep for this Liberty and now can't even drive it because my windows are crahing down!.

14 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 06/12/2011

The car was sitting in the parking lot when we tried to put the rear driver side window down it slid down an inch but did not keep going. When we tried to put the window back up, it did not move but the motor kept spinning. It's a safety issue because I usually have my child riding in the backseat and stuff can fly into the car and cause injuries. I took the car to the dealership and they replaced it for around $400. They acknowledged the problem as being common but that the vehicle was not part of a recall or extended warranty that was given to older models. I called the national Chrysler hotline and they told me that they can not escalate my issue unless it occured more often.

15 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 06/11/2011

Windows have fallen from Jeep Liberty 13 times. Windows will fall while driving or while parked without warning.

16 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 05/06/2011

The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated the driver and rear windows continued to fall down into the doors. The failure occurred at least three times and cost $350 each time it was repaired. The vehicle was repaired three times on the left rear and twice on right. The dealer replaced the lift plate on the windows. The manufacturer was notified and stated the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact filed a complaint. The failure mileage was 27,634 and the current mileage was 57,000.

17 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 11/08/2010

1. Power windows - three out of four of the power windows on my 2006 Jeep Liberty sport have fallen within the last month. It is not wear and tear because I hardly use the back windows, it is a defect. I have an infant daughter and this is a hazard for her since she has to ride in the back. 2. Electrical sensors - while coming to a slow stop or turning my vehicle has suddenly shut off for no apparent reason. *****both of these issues are common with this make & model. Why is there no recall? is Chrysler waiting on someone to die before they make a move? I can't afford the ridiculous price to have these defects fixed. I have to feed my family. . . So I must tape my windows up and hope they don't get broken in to.

18 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 11/07/2010

The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that the window regulators for the front and rear driver side windows failed. The windows had fallen down into the door panels abnormally and could not be closed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who advised that the window regulators needed to be replaces and there were no recalls for the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the issue and but provided no assistance. The VIN was unavailable. The failure mileage was 68,785.

19 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 11/03/2010

While driving down the street, the right rear window fell off it's track. This is the third time this has happened, the other times involved the front passenger's window in April of '07, and the left rear window in July of '08. . The first two were covered by warranty. Our '06 Jeep is one year past the 36 month warranty and has about 22,000 miles. I have talked with two dealers and the Chrysler complaint line and the information so far is that Chrysler, even though the problem is pervasive enough that they issued service bulletin # 23-008-09 to the dealers acknowledging the chronic problem, will not accept responsibility and makes the owner foot the bill. I have since been online and there are literally thousands of similar instances being reported. Someone is going to get killed. Chrysler needs to suck it up and issue a recall. Period.

20 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 10/31/2010

Three of the four windows have had the regulators break - the first one repaired under warranty, the second the dealership charged me (even though I had a warranty in effect) and the third window is currently being held in place by gorilla tape (the view out the passenger front window is fortunately not obscured). This window started falling in when we hit a bump driving down I-95 at highway speeds. Given the huge number of issues with this model year with the window regulators, it seems inevitable that the window of the final window will give way at some unknown point in the future. Why Jeep has not addressed this is inexcusable.

21 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 10/10/2010

This is my second complaint concerning the rear windows of my 2006 Jeep Liberty. After reading all the complaints filed concerning this model of vehicle and the number of "repeat" failures, I just got done sealing the other back door window shut with silicone sealant. It is pretty bad when you owe the bank $11,000 for a vehicle and you have to constantly put money into it because of a defective part the manufacturer refuses to acknowledge.

22 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2010

I was driving down the road with my son in the car. All of a sudden the rear passenger window went down. It was chilly, so I ask my son to put the window up and he said I didn't put it down. I tried to roll it up (power window) and heard a grinding noise, but the window would not go up. It apparently just fell down into the door and now I can not get it up. I went on -line to see if I could find a fix and ended up finding a huge amount of people with the exact same problem. I called the dealership this morning and they said I could bring it in and diagnostic is $120. 00. Are you kidding me???? so I taped a plastic bag over the window for now, but I did not realize how much I used my rear passenger window for driving, until it was no longer usable. This is absolutely unacceptable that this many people have had this problem and nothing has been done by the dealership or Chrysler.

23 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 09/06/2010

On my 06 Jeep Liberty my 2 back rear windows have failed. The one I caught before it went down into the door, jammed some cardboard on the sides to keep it up. However, here in sw florida during the summer we have a "rainy" season for 6 months. Needless to say driving down the road one of these bands of rain starts pouring and now here goes the other rear window down "inside" the door this time. Will not come up! if this is not a safety recall I don't know what is. Let's just say trying to keep the car on the road, in the correct lane all while trying to find someplace to pull off the road until the rain stops. Of course, now the seats are soaking wet, and we Liberty owners know what comes next. . . . . . . . . . . Because the seats get wet all this nasty white stain is on them and must be brought in to get cleaned. Douglas Jeep (venice, FL) did take care of both windows within 4 days, I do feel it is Jeep's responsibility and I should not have been charged period ($192) douglas Jeep has always been very concerned with this problem and I appreciate them getting me in as soon as they did. I might add that these two windows failed within 2 weeks of each other.

24 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 09/04/2010

Back window fell and switch will not bring it back up. This is my second window problem.

25 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 08/30/2010

The rear left window stopped working, and now slides down into the door on its own. This seems to be a very common problem on Jeeps. At this point in time, anyone can walk up to my Jeep an simply push the rear window down from the outside. Luckily, I was alone in my car when the window stopped working and slid down on its own.

26 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 08/20/2010

I, like most others owning a 2006 Jeep Liberty have had several problems with the window regulators that Jeep continues to use. I have replaced two rear windows within a week costing about $1000. 00 on my vehicle which has low mileage. I consider this a severe safety issue as there is no warning to when the windows fail and objects enter the vehicle at a high rate of speed which could cause a crash or death.

27 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 08/19/2010

The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated the rear drivers side automated window failed to operate. The contact planned to take the vehicle to an authorized dealer to be repaired. In August of 2010, the rear drivers side window regulator was replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 52,000.

28 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 08/19/2010

The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Liberty. The contact noticed that the rear driver side window would exhibit an unusual noise when opening or closing until the window was no longer operable. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the lift plate was the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure and the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 41,240 and the current mileage was approximately 43,900.

29 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2010

The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that both rear windows would drop down into the door panels without warning. The dealer advised the contact to bring the vehicle in for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic on four ocassions where they replaced the window regulators; however, the failure continued to occur. The manufacturer was aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 48,000 and the current mileage was 60,000.

30 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2010

Last year, right rear power window fell into door while I was driving the car. The window would not go up again. Repair was $380. Now, the other three windows are having similar problems.

31 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 07/17/2010

We were driving on the highway when the drivers side rear door window dropped to the bottom of the track. The window would not operate by the electrical switch, and could not be made to close. I am told by the dealer that this will cost 500 dollars to fix, even though thousands of these failures are recorded by Jeep. They also demanded a $75. 00 "diagnostic fee" to tell me this. This is dangerous. A child could be placed in serious jepardy by this defect.

32 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 07/12/2010

The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Liberty. While driving approximately 30 mph, the rear driver side window fell into the door panel abnormally. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostics where the technician replaced the window. Approximately one year later, the failure recurred on the rear passenger side window. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the window was replaced. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

33 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 07/07/2010

I own a 2006 Jeep Liberty and have had it for approximately 2 years. During that time I have had to replace 3 of the 4 power windows due to mechanism failure. Tonight one of the windows I have replaced with manufacturers repair kit has broken so I will need to replace again. I have checked on the internet and this appears to be a prevalent problem with the Jeep Liberty and one that the manufacturer should be responsible for a recall and replacement with reliable metal parts instead of plastic. At $500 a window I can't afford to continue to keep replacing windows.

34 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 07/05/2010

The back windows fall down randomly and won't stay up unless they are taped. The mechanic stated it was a faulty regulator. Jeep is aware of this, however, they refuse to acknowledge the issue. This is a serious safety issue as it is random, occurring while driving and when the car is parked.

35 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 07/03/2010

Power windows on 2006 Jeep Liberty - 38,000 miles - window drops halfway down, when try power control it grinds and window will not move up or down with control, window falls into door. This is my third window & it is the regulator again. It is unconscionable that Chrysler/Jeep has not issued a recall (or has not been directed to by an authority) when it is so very obvious this is a manufacturer's defect.
