Failure Date: 12/04/2013

Purchased 2007 Jeep Liberty and fuel is expelled from fuel fill line upon filling tank. I am amazed that based on all the online incidents reported this is not a safety recall.

2 Fuel Hoses Lines/piping And Fittings problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 11/21/2011

I purchased a used Jeep in wisconsin that does not follow NHTSA or epa standards. The Jeep overflows when filling the gas tank and spills gas on the ground at every gas station. This is a common issue with Jeeps and needs to be recalled. It often requires replacement of the fuel tank or lines. My car is not under warranty since it was purchased used. I am extremely concerned of fire, pollution and my wife's safety with this hazardous issue.

3 Fuel Hoses Lines/piping And Fittings problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 08/01/2011

My 2006 Jeep Liberty has a defective gas tank. When filling the tank completely full, the fuel pump nozzle will shut off only to have gasoline come pouring out of the tank onto me, my clothes, the outside of the vehicle, and all over the ground. After investigating the problem, it turns out I'm not the only one with this problem. Jeep should be held responsible for installing gas tanks that are deemed to fail. The cost of this gas tank alone, quoted by the dealership is $1400. 00, and the filler line is an additional $300. 00. This is ridiculous. Engine problems are one thing, parts due wear over time and this is understandable. But to have a gas tank that is potentially dangerous by spewing gasoline at consumers and being an environmental hazard is not acceptable. And Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep not taking responsibility for their faulty manufacturing is not acceptable. And lets not forget that the government spent millions of dollars to bale them out, which turns out to be taxpayers money, our money, and they won't stand by their products. Shame on you!! looks like I'll be purchasing a Toyota fj cruiser instead of an american made classic in the future. Thanks for nothing Jeep.

The contact owns a 2002 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated he was informed of NHTSA investigation item number: pe10-031 (fuel system, gasoline: delivery: hoses, lines/piping, and fittings) which stated that the placement of the fuel tank and lack of adequate shielding made the fuel tank vulnerable to rupture or leakage if struck from the rear. 5 Fuel Hoses Lines/piping And Fittings problem of the 2008 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 06/01/2010

When putting fuel in the tank, it will burp out the fill line just as the pump is clicking off. Cannot fill the tank without this happening and it occurs every time we fuel up. This problem started about 9 months ago and we have less than 40,000 miles on it now. No event led up to this starting, it just started when trying to fuel up. No matter how I try to fuel up, I get slosh back. This an environmental hazzard besides the filling stations do not like having gasoline spilled in their stations. It is a 2008 Jeep Liberty 4x4. I had the car at brown Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep today and they checked out the gas tank and could not find anything wrong. They did a thorough check and could not detemine what was causing the problem. VIN # 1j8gn28kx8w154153.
