I was driving from NY city to boston, MA when suddenly I hear a big noise thankful to god I didn't lose control on my vehicle, I parked and notice the driver's side tire was completely deflated. I wait for several hours for help. Also one of the rear tires has big bulge on it. I check for any recalls on these tires, but there is none for this size. What can I do? the tires have only 2000-3000 miles on the car. I call cooper customer service recalls and they were rude and did't help at all. This is a safety issue and I would like my tires to be replaced ASAP. Thank yo.

5 Tire problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Due to a manufacturing error of a tire, I had a blowout on the interstate that ended up totaling my car. The tread completely split from the tire while driving at 70 mph. Luckily, I was able to pull to the shoulder without any collisions or damage to myself or others. The blowout ripped off pieces of the front bumper, some siding of the car, and caused huge cosmetic damage in addition to wrecking the frame and causing some internal damage, including a leak of wiper fluid. My car was a 2006 Jeep Liberty (with 60,000 miles) and the tire was a goodyear wrangler st tire with dot # m671 eker. (there was no set of numbers following the eker as on most tires, just a blank space. ).

29 Tire problem of the 2003 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 10/03/2005

After a flat on 9/30 of this year, I purchased a new set (4) of goodyear wrangler st tires, size p215/75/16, through my Jeep dealer. Within a day of light use, my 2003 Liberty sport started to exhibit unsettled handling behaviors. The vehicle pulls strongly to the right where it did not before the tire replacement, the vehicle feels mushy at freeway speeds and is now very hard to keep going in a straight line. The feeling of lack of control is especially noticeable when trying to negotiate a left turn at speed (the vehicle seems to want to continue to go straight or left and, very noticeable under steer is present). The Jeep feels very unsettled everytime the grade on the road crown changes along turns on back roads and is noticeable enough to compel me to slow down from normal speed limits. When traveling 55 mph and above the feeling of loss of control comes on with very minor changes on straight road surfaces. There is also vibration and noise coming from the right front area of the suspension (comes and goes in proportion to loss of control). The vehicle has 70,000 miles and is on its' third set of these tires (the only one that fits the oddball standard rim) but, this is the first set of these tires that have left me not wanting to use the truck for anything. I checked tire pressures and wheel lugs for tightness but, found nothing out of the ordinary. I had the dealer look at the problem and they kept it for 4 days (and 100 miles) saying afterwards that it needed only a wheel alignment (toe-in was out) after stating that it was alright when the sold me the tires 3 days earlier; they also checked their wheel balancing job and found nothing wrong with that. They went on that there was nothing wrong with any suspension components and that my truck behaved like many other Libertys. Their work abated the right pulling a bit but, the behavior still varies in intensity with road changes. The vehicle does not feel safe even on dry roads.

32 Tire problem of the 2004 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 09/09/2004

2004 Jeep libery limited 4wd, VIN 1j8-gl58kx4w-255517, tires: goodyear eagle r-sa p235/70r16, mileage: approx. 1,000 (approx 1 month old). Rear end of car skids dangerously in low-speed turns, on normally wet (not puddled) roads, when in 2wd. This has happened several times in the last 3 weeks, always in slow-speed suburban driving. (thank god. ) skid happens when you make either a right or left hand turn, and then apply gas during the middle of the turn (as you do to maintain speed in a low-speed turn) at which time, the rear wheels lose traction and skid to the outside of the turn. I understand the goodyear eagle r-sa tires are poor in the wet traction dept, but this must be a specially-bad batch, because this skid occurs so readily. Dealer service manager (georgetown Jeep, georgetown, CT) admits that wet weather traction is a problem for the Liberty and he says "we advise using 4 wd when the roads are wet. " well this floored me! no one told us that when the car was delivered. And the owners manual does not say this. Chrysler/Jeep says they will not do anything more. They will not have the tires tested, for example.

33 Tire problem of the 2002 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 05/07/2004

Dealer replaced the front tires twice, and vehicle vibrated while driving at any speed. Also, headlights/ horn/windshield wipers, and the speedometer failed while driving the vehicle.

Also, front tires needs to be replaced because they were cropping. Prior to repair, vehicle was operating fine. Dealer refused realignment of the vehicle, per request of the consumer, because it was not covered under the scope of the recall. Also, all four tries were replaced at 8,000 miles on vehicle.

35 Tire problem of the 2002 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 10/07/2003

I have a 2002 Jeep Liberty and on oct. 7, 2003, I had an incident in which my steering wheel and tires locked up during a left turn causing me to turn in a full 360 facing the car that was behind me. This was on a Tuesday. On Friday, oct. 10, 2003, I was making a right turn into a gas station and my car skidded causing me to lose brief control of my car again. I was able to straighten up the car and avoid another 360 and possible collision with gas pupms. Luckily, no one was hurt and there was not any property damage in either situation. At this point, I contacted the dealership (galeana) who told me it was my tires. I went to goodyear and they said my tires were fine and I should go to the dealership. I called the delearship back and they told me to bring it in and they would check it over but they had not heard of this problem before. They were unable to find anything wrong with my car and I really did't feel like I received good customer service. My reason for submitting this now is because I have seen articles and my mother heard it on the news that there has been a recent recall on 2002 Jeep liberties that might explain what happened. I contacted the dealership tonight and asked them about a recall and they denied that there is one. I am also unable to find it on your sight although the article I read stated it as being released by you. I have been lucky that it has not happened again but I do not feel as safe in my car as I did before the incidents. Please contact me and let me know if there is a recall and if not, please document my complaint. The next person may not be as lucky. Thank you, emily lewis.
