1 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2021

I have a 2014 2. 4l Jeep Patriot. I first noticed the problem when I was driving at 60 mph, then suddenly the check engine light came on and the vehicle began to lose speed. The engine felt like it was running out of power and I was unable to accelerate. The engine began to stall and would not allow me to go over 20 mph. The problem continued to get worse. While stopped at a red light, the engine would idle very heavily. When I went to proceed, the engine would stall. My foot would be pressing down on the gas pedal but the car wouldn't accelerate. Then after about two minutes with the gas pedal down to the floor, the vehicle's rpms would jump to 4-5 and the vehicle accelerated. Another issue is when the vehicle would be in a parked position and then proceeded to be reversed, as I was turning the wheel to back up the engine started sputtering and stalled out. I had to completely turn the key off then back on to allow me to continue to reverse. I've taken it to so many shops that can't give me answers. The problem is consistent with the nhs recall- 13v552000.

5 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/09/2019

While driving my 2014 Jeep Patriot, the car started losing power while accelerating uphill, it also veered off the road, like it was steering itself. The check engine light and a red lightning bolt appeared on the dashboard. Thankfully I wasn't far from my mechanic and I was able to drive it to my mechanic where it was diagnosed as needing a throttle body. This could be an extremely dangerous situation.

6 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/24/2019

When driving, car will suddenly shut down, and the red lightning bolt will come on as well as the traction control. The check engine light came on as well. It will be fine for a couple days, and then out of nowhere the issue will happen again. This is extremely dangerous as to where I lose control is unknown. I have researched this issue, and have found many people with this same issue. I see a lawsuit waiting to happen. I only have 51,000 miles on my car. This is ridiculous.

This has happened 4 times in less then a 6 months period. I would be driving then out of no where my vehicle jerks my check engine light comes on and I can not accelerate past 20 mph. 9 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/03/2017

Upon entering a major high way system, the engine on my 2014 Jeep Patriot would not accelerate, regardless of the pressure applied to the gas pedal. It felt like there was something resisting the acceleration. There I am in the middle lane of a 6 lane bridge with free way traffic going 60mph and I am decelerating (even with adequate pressure applied to the gas) when comes electrical throttle control light came on, along with the check engine light and the traction control light. The guy driving the tow truck said I was his 4th Jeep today with the same problem and among many this month.
