Two problems related to loud engine noise have been reported for the 2014 Jeep Patriot. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Takata recall- 3 dash lights on etc, mil, and esc activational malfunction indicator light on- car makes sputtering loud noise and stalls/turns off quickly after starting. Car will not accelerate and is jerking/hard to press breaks. Feels dangerous like car is going to shut off at any moment. This started last night when 3 lights appeared on dash but car sounded normal. Shortly after it shut off and has gone decreasingly down hill. This sounds like a recall issued for Jeep Patriots but does not cover my VIN number.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Patriot. While driving at approximately 20 mph, the rpm needle fluctuated between six and seven. The vehicle made a loud sound and the gear would not work properly. The failure occurred four or five times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing, but was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 34.
