general problems of the 2014 Jeep Patriot - part 1

The dashboard's sensors were unresponsive, and my speed monitor flickered as though mocking my plight. In that moment, the overwhelming fear and confusion turned into a painful reality as I was left with a broken left shoulder blade and a fractured left forearm, the break occurring in the upper arm, just adding to the turmoil of the incident. The make and model year was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 106,000.

My engine light and traction light and red lightning bolt light is on and it’s making the vehicle run really hard and shake and almost stall out and won’t go over 20 miles per hour.

No warning lights have appeared; after an oil change, the technician said there is some oil seepage; at start up, the vehicle smells like gas and clicks and start up. The fumes are overwhelming at times. Off and on driving the vehicle clicks 2-4 times then stops. No warning lights are illuminating. The ect had a failure at 67676 mileage the vehicle smelled like gas and would not accelerate, the throttle body was replaced. No recall notice for this failure is listed for this vehicle.

Engine jerking really had while vehicle is in drive and idle hard while sitting still.

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated while driving 75 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the catalytic converter. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to the emissions recall u67. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 157,000.

Driving normal then suddenly power loss, Jeep went into acceleration then loss of power, the etc , traction control, and check engine lights came on, got a uo4o1 code, I was on the interstate with my son in the car. We were lucky to exit before horrible consequences. The electronic throttle control was bad.

Lightning bolt symbol, check engine light and traction control lights came on and vehicle went into limp mode while taking my 3 yr old to pre school. Scans say vacuum leak/throttle body. This is a recurrent problem with these cars and has had recalls on certain ones. Almost didnt make it where I was going. . . Needs to be addresses on this model too. My car only has 76,721 miles.

When travelling at high speeds, the engine repeatedly stalls, the engine light comes on the engine shuts down posing a major safety risk especially when on the highway at 65-70 mile hour speeds. There is a recall on similar models, but my vehicle's VIN number is not showing. I am concerned that this vehicle has the same issue, but Chrysler is refusing to check it. The recall campaign number is n52 for a certain group of vehicles of the same model and the problem described is exactly what I am having with my vehicle. Essentially, my vehicle is posing a serious safety hazard and Chrysler is not willing to address it. I would appreciate any help with this matter. I have had two different mechanics look at it before I saw the recall and unable to detect the problem. Now that I have read the information on the recall, I want to have Chrysler review it for the recall. Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

My Jeep would suddenly jerk forward almost rear ending people at red lights without any warning. While traveling at approximately 45 mph the engine light came on my Jeep. As I went to pull over the engine started bucking/jerking then the engine light flashed. I was barely able to pull over on the side of the road before the car completely stalled. I had to have towed to a dealership as it was no longer drivable. I was almost on the highway. The dealership said I had total engine failure and should buy a new car. The vehicle was not repaired. I associate the failure with NHTSA campaign number: 13v552000 (engine) that has been open since of 11/2013. But my vehicles VIN “wasn’t included”. I was driving with my four small kids in my Jeep.

The vehicle stops while driving and no engine light is coming the wheel locks up while driving and the engine shuts off.

One day I went to crank up my car and it would not even crank or turn over.

While traveling at approximately 45 mph the engine light came on my Jeep decreased on speed and it wouldn’t go any faster than 30 mph. The engine started shaking/jerking then the engine light flashed on and off very quickly. Was able to pull to the side of the road car completely stalled out just as I put it in park. This incident also occurred 2 weeks after having the catalytic converter replaced due to emissions recall and it was jerking. I had to have emit towed.

My Jeep has revved up and lunged forward scream times over the past 4 months. I’ll have my foot on the brake and it’s trying to lunge forward. Today the engine light came on and it wouldn’t go any faster than 30mph and it was jerking. I had to have emit towed.

The electronic throttle body has failed 3 times in 3 years. Each time it caused issued with the traction control, stability control, and precrash systems and others that require torque management, causing us to pull and making it unsafe to drive. . 2014 Jeep Patriot bought: 1/10/2015 | electronic throttle body assembly (Chrysler) first replaced/purchased: $385 1/19/2021 | warranty replacement: August 2021 | purchased replacement (techsmart/standard motor products): $494. 88 4/14/2022.

As my wife was heading to a doctor's appointment the electronic throttle body failed while she was on a busy highway during rush hour. The car had 51,524 miles on it. This is the second time that this part has failed. The first time was a little less than 40,000 miles. When this fails the vehicle loses power and becomes a rear-end collision hazard. I also own a 2016 Jeep Patriot and its throttle body failed at a little less than 40,000 miles.

My Patriot keeps shutting down on and off while driving. It is really unsafe, I did some research and there are multiple complaints since 2014 from other people about the same problem. The steering wheel won't even move when this happened. I believe this is a manufacturing issue and I am reporting it. I had taken my car to the mechanic over and over again and they do not know why this is happening.

On 7/15, my sensor showed I needed a usual oil change. I have had no prior issues with my oil. I drove it to my brothers and there was a loud knocking sound, and my dad checked the dipstick showing zero oil in my engine. I took it down the street about 2 miles, and the engine was stalling the whole way. The engine completely failed. It wouldn’t take oil, it was completely failed. As of 11/2013, I did some research and my particular model of the vehicle has an open recall that apparently doesn’t affect my VIN, however, the recall 13v552000/n52 states that abrasive debri in the balance shaft bearing causes loss of engine oil pressure, causing the engine to stall and or fail. I’m at a loss, and it’s been open as of 11/2013.

I have a 2014 2. 4l Jeep Patriot. I first noticed the problem when I was driving at 75 mph between mertzon texas and barnhart texas, where there is no cell service unless you are on top of a hill. Then suddenly the check engine and the oil light came on and the vehicle began to lose speed no matter how much I pushed the gas peddle. The engine felt like it was running out of power and I was unable to accelerate, the engine began to stall and would not allow me to go over 15mph. The problem continued to get worse, while I pulled over and stopped, the engine would idle very heavily and sound rough. When I tried to proceed, the engine would stall, and my foot would be presing down on the gas pedalbut the car would not accelerate. Then after about a minute or the with the gas pedal down to the floor, the vehicle's rpms would jump and the it would go. But it continued the same pattern for about 15 miles, then it just died and would not start again for a few hours, but the issue was still the same, it would start but not move. Another issue is when the vehicle would be in park position and I would try to go in reverse, the engine would sound like it went into reverse, but it would not move, it would stall out and die. I have taken it to so many shops and they can not give an answer, they just say that the motor is blown. The problem is consistent with the nhs recal-13v552000, so why does it still say that my VIN in not affected when actually it is, but nothing is being done.

I had all the issues that was stated in the recalls but my VIN number wasnt part of recall I am on my thrid motor replaced and electrical still isnt working properly I purchased brand new 2014 and within first year needed new engine when ifiled complaint nothing was done by Jeep or dealer,just replaced the engin last month now the alternator needs replacing and transmission blew yesterday all of these issues happened while I was driving.

Miller Dodge ram tucson 4220 e 22nd st, tucson, az 85711 (520) 395-9311)for a diagnosed test to be performed and determined that the electric throttle body control failed and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximate 80,100. Ck.

When I am driving on the freeway or street the car seems that wants to stop and feel that is loosing power; than it does like a jumper and keep going and it has happened many times. The dealer seems that do not find anything. Also the back door of the car keep getting lock and not able to open.

Throttle track and engine light come on and off. Car will not accelerate no more than 30 rpm when it happens it may also accelerate on its own when foot on break .

I needed to replace my throttle body unit on this car at 75,000 miles. The car is only 5 years old. I have seen numerous complaints about this same issue. 3 lights came the electronic stability control, malfunction indicator (check engine), and the electronic throttle control. My car could not surpass 30 mph which was incredibly dangerous on the highway. Additionally, the car was jerky and would jerk forward even when braking. This seems to be a recurring/known issue. I believe a recall of this specific part is needed.

While driving down a highway the rpm's will drop down to 0 and within 1-3 seconds it pops back up to normal range. Sometimes it kills while driving. Unknown reason. Have replaced the spark plugs and ignition coils hoping to find the cause.

The vehicle was taken to hearn stein Jeep (215 west emmitt Ave, waverly, OH) where it was diagnosed that the throttle body was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was 90,000.

Wow, just wow!! all the complaints on the 2014 Jeep Patriot. Mine is at the Jeep dealership getting a new throttle body kit. (600$$). . . . I am not sure if I ever want to drive it again after what happened to me. Lost power and all the lights came on in s curves on a rural road. . . Had to creep at 10 miles and hour hoping to get off the road. No recalls are crazy considering all the complaints.

My engine had been on for a couple of weeks and then today as I was driving the red flash light came on which when I read my manual, it's my etc. My Jeep started slowing down and I pulled off to the side of the road and turned my Jeep off and read my manual. It stated I could continue to drive and get it service. I drove it home. As I read the complaints on here for the same thing, this should have been a recall or should be now, because it is very dangerous if it accelerates on it's on and can't stop.

Throttle body assembly malfunction: while driving 2014 Jeep Patriot at approximately 40 mph in a semi-residential area, shortly after exiting the highway, experienced a sudden loss of speed and steering control. Red bolt illuminated on dashboard. Car would not accelerate past 15 mph and steering and braking became difficult. Car immediately towed to repair shop where the throttle body assembly (part 68420395aa) was replaced with a factory part. After reviewing other complaints, this seems like a common problem with the referenced part, and owner/driver is not satisfied with the resolution of replacing a faulty part with with a faulty part for a total of $800. Mileage on car at time of tba failure = 69,850 with no previous indicators of upcoming failure. Further resolution is needed to ensure safety of all drivers.
