3 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/24/2020

My vehicle out of nowhere no lights or warnings came on it simply shut off no power couldn't even unlock my doors. Was unable to start again. I jumped it and it started within 10seconds of driving it I thought it died again and realized was still running but it was like I was not pressing the gas rpms were up but no speed when I put in park vehicle motor seemed to be struggling and my check engine light came on. Luckily all of this happened while on a small road . Got it home spoke to mechanic he informed me of recall s89 and immediately said it was electrical or computer possibly I reached out to Chrysler and they instructed me to take to dealership to submit my VIN for recall I contacted dealership they essentially told me no we don't do that. This was out of nowhere with no warning I did try to start vehicle a few minutes later it started up.

4 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2019

When starting the vehicle there is a delay in starting then when while driving down the road the vehicle jerks or stalls like it is going to die. Acceleration and deceleration do not seem to make it stop or fix the issue. Occasionally when going up hill the vehicle will hit 4rpm like it is unable to shift and neither acceleration or deceleration fix the issue even after the vehicle is no longer climbing the hill. There are no check engine lights on and no codes to be read. I have tried gas treatment and taken it to the dealership and 2 mechanics and no one knows why it is doing it or how to stop it.

Immediately afterwards, vehicle would not accelerate past 20 mph. Drove vehicle directly to mechanic with hazard lights on driving at speeds between 15-20 mph. 7 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 05/21/2019

2016 Patriot with,54,000 miles. No major issues prior. 2 weeks ago however, I was left stopped in the middle of a highway entrance ramp, almost rear-ended by a semi and side swiping a construction sign to avoid being hit. When accelerating the etc symbol (lightening bolt) will display, traction control icon and check engine light will display. The Jeep completely stops accelerating (highway speed to 0 mph within seconds=deadly), it will shake before just dying. If I'm lucky I'll make it to the shoulder (if it happens to have one). Through google research, I came across a way to do a "reset" (turn car off, insert key and turn "on", press gas pedal slowly, release slowly, turn car off and then restart the engine). Doing this typically clears the icons and I'm able to travel again. This intermittently happens, so you never know when you're potentially about to be involved in an accident from stopping in the middle of the roadway. When driving on city/town roads, it has not completed stopped as stated above, but will "jump" when switching gears, then throw the etc symbol. If I let off the gas, the icon goes away and car runs normal. I took it to a mechanic 1 day ago and was told to get a new battery. The battery was changed 1 day ago and the issue occurred multiple times today. Through online searches it appears this is a terribly common issue that Jeep has yet to address! someone is going to end up losing their life because of this malfunction. There appears to be no way of knowing this is going to happen or any preventative measures that a typical person would know to take to avoid this deadly malfunction. As easy as it is to just take it to a mechanic, that is not financially possible for everyone and in this situation needs to be addressed by Jeep as it is recurring issue and is deadly. Nothing as a vehicle owner would avoid this from occurring.

8 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 09/10/2018

While driving, the check engine light, the electronic throttle sensor light and the abs light came on. As a result, the engine loses power, the transmission is choppy and I cant drive faster than 20-30 miles per hour. If I turn the car off and restart, the sensor light and abs light goes off, the check engine light stays on and the car runs normal. After five minutes, the aforementioned lights come back on and the engine returns to its subnormal running conditions. There is no specific explanation for this problem and according to Jeep's forums, it is a common problem among all Jeep models.

9 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 05/12/2016

I purchased this vehicle 2 and a half weeks ago and it has been back to the dealer 4 times because of the check engine light. The first time they stated it was a sensor for the breaks. Second, time they stated, for the same thing a brake sensor. Third, time they said the sensor was bad. Now for the fourth time they are saying it's a module. No, it's time for a new truck a 2016 Jeep should not have the engine light come on at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it's time to be in the process to file the lemon law because the car has been back up their four times maybe even more for the check engine light.
