My mechanic has been telling me that the frame/subframe of my Jeep Patriot is extremely corroded. The rust has corroded other parts of my car and it can cause serious safety issues. The corrosion has seriously deteriorated the rear cross member of my car. I know there has been a number of claims to Chrysler on the structural damages of some Jeep makes/models. I once tried claiming the warranty but the dealer denied services to my car. I need help to fix this.

I made a u-turn in my vehicle on a town street , as I completed the u-turn the vehicles rear suspension broke. The broken suspension made the vehicle feel like it was going over a rumble strip, the suspension being broke made the wheels turn in towards the wheel wells where it rubbed and eventually blew my tire. I was looking for a place to pull off safely. When I finally got it too a auto shop they told me the suspension rusted in two . It had to be moved with a flat bed. I had the vehicles front fixed in January of 2017 . Which was under the extended warranty because of complaints so the vehicles rear took an extra three years to rust out which is only two years over the warranty. I have enclosed a copy of bill from when then front was done.

I had to have the subframe and cross member replaced on my 2008 Patriot in January 2017, it has rusted again and the same parts need replaced, it was replaced oe parts which I feel were faulty. I was making a u-turn on a small city street and my rear cross member broke, I thought I ran over a something then my steering wheel shimmed , my tires that were held in the cross member were now tilted in to my cross member making black smoke. My tire rubbed on my wheel well untill blew . I was very lucky I was not going fast when this occured.
Over several weeks I had been smelling something burning upon exiting my Patriot. Finally I noticed my rear bumper was misshapen. It was melting! my local car service shop took a look and figured out my exhaust pipe had moved and lodged into my bumper. All the heat melted the bumper. I'm honestly surprised there wasn't a fire started. The man who looked at my Patriot told me this is a very common issue with Jeeps.

While driving the vehicle on the highway the front frame broke and the cv and front drivers side wheel fell off the vehicle, I had to wrestle the vehicle off the road. The vehicle has had to have both front and back replaced with several other parts the dealer had broke in the process of "fixing" it.
It has been making a cracking/clunking noise there for years. My wife complained of it sounding louder than normal, so I looked at it closer and noticed the crossmember was broken. I've been having issues with that side for several years and have replaced broken ball joints and control arms. I found out last night that this would've been a warranty item had I brought my vehicle in 6 months ago, but am being told that I brought it in too late. My reply was I didn't know that this was an issue and wasn't notified that there was an extended warranty placed on that part.
Went for an oil change, mechanic noted the front crossmember was rusted and, should it break, my tires would fold in and engine would fall out. Jeep recalled those part on its 2007 Patriots, but not on 2008, despite what seems to be several complaints about this crucial part rusting prematurely. I contacted Jeep and they told me the warranty expired in 2017 (the year we purchased the vehicle) and there was nothing they could do. This is a dire matter of safety and it's shameful that Jeep won't lift a finger to replace these parts. Repair estimates are $1300-1500 for a vehicle valued by kbb at less than $500.
I have bought a 2010 Jeep liberty and now noticed that the suspension crossmembers are rotting out and there is a hole in the front crossmember. I researched and found out this was an issue with the Patriot, compass, and a Dodge caliber. Yet there was never a recall.

On Sunday, Jan 26, 2020, I was driving from eagle river, ak to joint base elmendorf-richardson on the glenn highway. I noticed that the hood of my 2017 Jeep Patriot was bouncing. I reduced my speed and moved into the far right lane until I was able to exit the highway safely. When I pulled into the parking lot on base, I found that the hood release had popped, but the safety latch was still engaged. I released the safety lock, raised the hood and then closed it. . I then took my Patriot to the Jeep dealer in anchorage and they checked it out and told me that it was safe to drive my Jeep.

In the city of kalamazoo michigan, I was driving and made it over a chunk of ice(the ice build up from the plow trucks. ) it was similar to the way taking a speed bump to fast would feel. While I was going no more than 30mph over this chunk/bump when I heard a loud crack that did not sound good and after that my vehicle could not steer because the engine cradle was rusted through making it very unsafe to drive before I had to pull over.
I had an inspection done and was told my Jeep is not safe to drive! the subframe and crossmember is trash and could cause an immediate accident at any given moment. I went to Chrysler dealership and they told me my warranty expired in June 2019 a few months ago. Please recall this so it can be fixed and lives are not at stake.
I was cleaning my Patriot 2011 when I notice that the subframe has holes. I also owen a 2008 Jeep Patriot and I got a recall for the same promblem. When I contacted the dealer about the same promblem they said they didnt had a recall for 2011 Jeep. My biggest worry when driven this vehicle I that at any moment the subframe may brake, me that I drive constaly on a highway it is a damgerous situation. I feel that all Jeep Patriot owners should be aware of dangers. I notice this because I was playing with my son and a ball went underneath the car. When driving the car I thought the cracking sound was the tires, but was told they were not. So now I am assuming the subframe is to blame. I would highly appreciate if something could be done.
When I start driving the car after a heavy rain, water pours in through the front and rear interior lights. This has occurred on several occasions.

Jeep Patriot 2011 at reaching 90k miles had a poping sound from the driver's side. Took it in and it was then found the subframe/crossmember is completely corroded. It's no longer being driven as at any moment the engine can fall out. This type of corrosion is seen at cars 30yrs+, it's unbelievable how bad it is. We are a household of multiple cars and while the Jeep is the youngest one, it's in the worst shape.
Tl the contact owns a 2008 Jeep Patriot. While reversing into the driveway, the contact heard an abnormal noise. There were no warning indicators illuminated. Purchased vehicle less than 6 monthes ago and complained to the dealer that it sounded and felt like wheels were about to fall off. 8 days later I took it to get an oil change and the shop refused. He explained that when they lifted the Jeep and inspected tires the wire treads were exposed in the middle of the tire, at any moment the vehicle could pose serious injury or death to passengers. I took it to the dealership and they changed tire but did not inspect the vehicle. The brakes continually made a screeching sound , for some unknown reason. The steering wheel would often veer left when turned right and the Jeep kept making rubbing and popping sounds last week while travelling less than 20 miles an hour the car made a popping sound , I lost control of steering wheel and it was veering to right , running up on the curb and the vehicle was still in motion . . When the Jeep finally stopped I was unable to move steering wheel nor push it out of the street. It had to be towed away. Mechanic inspected and advised of numerous issues: axle bent, control arm , drive shaft, suspension to mention a few. The Jeep had 107000 miles when this occured and is under warranty. Mechanic is requesting warranty approval to fix the failed components and damages incurred from the failure.
Tl the contact owns a 2011 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated that there was extensive rust on her vehicle, which included the k frame, the a frame, and the front and rear driver side tires. Due to the rust, the steering was affected and loud metal grinding noises were heard while driving. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who stated that the repair cost would exceed the actual value of the vehicle. New smyrna Chrysler Jeep Dodge ram (2555 FL-44, new smyrna beach, FL 32168, 386-424-1300) was called and stated that the vehicle had an extended warranty; however, the warranty would only cover part of the rust repair. The dealer advised the contact to have the vehicle towed to their facility to assess what the warranty could cover. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 122,000.

Sub frame rotted out , lower a arm came off on driver side rear .
I purchased my 2008 Jeep Patriot and found out it has a rotted crossmember subframe. Upon research I found out Jeep knew it had this issue in high salt areas and were responsible for fixing it. I tried to get it fixed at hartley's dealership in newport maine and they said the company is no longer honoring the repair, depite the incredible safety issue this causes. The vehicle can literally break in half and kill someone yet they haven't done a full recall? they did an extended warranty for it that has expired before I was informed about it. How are they not being held responsible for the safety issues they are having in so many of their vehicles? I feel like they should be recalled.
My rear subframe is completely rusted through. It is available for inspection. It has been confirmed by an independent service center. Warranties were issued to 2007 owners or 10 years old. 3 years ago I noticed a squeek in the trunk. Was told it was struts so I had them replaced. Now the vehicle knocks and squeaks so bad it has to sit until I can afford to replace subframe.
I come down a small over pass, and ice wasn't visible/ when I braked my left tire driver side at the curb.
Shortly after purchase of new 015 Jeep Patriot, water started to penetrate inside of car. Oming through front interior lamp. Took to dealership, found out clog in drain of sunroof. fixed then appx 6 months later, sae leak started. Tried a diffrent dealership trying to actually get it fixed for good, they said it was fixed but problem happened again. This continued for three yeas. Brought to 3-4 dealerships plus had 2 private techs looked at it. I contacted Chrysler corp andthey assigned a case manager to oversee repair but dealer stated that clog was found again, gave car back as fixed but at delivery, water was still leaking out of interior lamp. Dealer said only residual and nothing he can do about it I asked several times and suggested there should be a recall. This vehicle has been such trouble for th past three years. Water flows all down the dash and electrial components. If you google, you will see hundreds of Patriot owners have the same problem. The only fix that dealership/water specialists have ever performed is clearing clog drain of sunroof. I am not sure why it keeps clogging. The last dealer stated that it is general maintenance. I hve owned many cars wth sunroofs nd have never had to clear drain as general maintentance. This problem occurs if vehicle is statioery or in motion. It has occurred while driving on a majory highway causing great distraction.

At any speed the Jeep is apt to start wobbling side to side after driving over bumps. (frequently called the "death wobble" by Jeep owners when describing this condition. ) at highway speeds this makes it difficult to stay in lanes. The hood hinges do not hold the hood securely down. At speeds above 30mph you can witness the hood wobbling up and down and side to side. You may read about both of these issues in dozens of online forums regarding Jeep issues from owners across the country.
