Jeep Patriot owners have reported 2 problems related to ignition coils failure (under the electrical system category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
While leaving a parking lot on or about April 15 2019, the vehicle kept killing when I attempted to accelerate. We had the vehicle towed to the dealership. We were told that the pcm had shorted out and had to be replaced. The new pcm was installed on April 20, 2019. The same problem started again on April 24, 2019. The vehicle had to be towed again to the dealership. The dealership traced the wires in the vehicle for over a week and contacted me on may 1, 2019 stating that they had determined that there was problem with the ignition coil which was corrected. We picked up the vehicle at approxiimately 5:00 p. M. On may 1st, drove the vehicle home about 10 miles, tried starting the vehicle 1 hour later and the same problem again. We will now have to have the vehicle towed for the 3rd time for the same issue. Why haven't the 2015 Jeep Patriots been recalled?.

While on the freeway, speed 65-70 my car suddenly lost all acceleration and a winding noise accompanies the loss. Sometimes the temp gauge or electric throttle light will light up. This has happened a total of 4 times over the past 2 months. All 4 times I have been able to wait an hour, start the car drives normally. After each occasion I've taken the car to a Chrysler Jeep dealer. Either they say it's a misfire, or I need a tune up or an ignition coil. I've since had all these repairs and the issue continues. This is very unsafe. I've had my kids in the car every time, thankfully I avoided getting rear ended and now drive in the slow lane not over 65 mph just to be prepared for my Jeep to do this again. I'm scared to drive this car.
