My car broke down as I was driving with no prior indication or warning. It failed to run when I tried to start it back up, so I had to push it off the road and call for a tow. The shop told me the problem was that the tube-fuel supply line was corroded from the inside and needed to be replaced. I had a similar issue with my brake fluid lines being corroded and needing to be replaced a year prior. How is it these supply lines are built out of such a poor material, that the vehicle barely makes it 10 years/100k miles and they are already failing because the fuel line can't handle fuel and the brake line can't handle brake fluid?.

Engine stalls only after filling up gas, resulting in check engine light or oil light turning on. I have taken it to numerous mechanics, who have all given me different answers, with anywhere from issues with evap hoses and fuel tank, to the fuel pump, or purge system. Problem was never addressed or mentioned when bought from dealership in June 2025 but noticed immediately after filling up gas for the first time since purchase of the car and problem occurs continuously after filling up gas. Not sure if related either, but if gas tank is overfilled at all in the slightest, it leaks out the bottom immediately.

When fueling the Jeep the nozzle keeps popping off. I had a diagnostics test and was told that there is something in the gas tank that blocks it in case of a rollover. Is this a recall?.
The rollover valve in the gas tank won't allow me to put fuel in the gas tank.
Fuel system. When I fill the gas tank completely the car will stall within a minute or two. I lose power steering, break booster. I can restart and the car will operate correctly. This has been happening for some time.

Several incidents when driving where the vehicle hesitates then the rpms drop to zero and the vehicle does not accelerate when gas pedal is pushed. Vehicle does not die each time just does not react to gas pedal being applied and does not increase in speed. Only dashboard light that comes on is the loss of traction. Incident causes driver to have to pull off road, place vehicle in park, turn off and on. Then can drive again.
While driving the vehicle will randomly, without warning or any dash notification icons alerted, turn off engine- radio, lights, a/c everything else is still on but engine is off. This occurred 4 times in less than a 2 mile distance without any check engine or notification lights on the dash before, during, or after the event. This issue originally started about a week ago, when the check engine and throttle system notification icons came on, followed immediately by the car going into what seemed to be limp mode. Car was towed to the Jeep dealership, they said issue was the battery and that an oil change was needed. Had issues addressed took the car how two days later, same issue occurred again. While driving same two icons suddenly came on then car went immediately into limp mode and was not driveable. Took the car back to the Jeep dealer, they took a few days to drive it and stated it was the fuel throttle body that needed to be replaced. Had the part replaced and the car drove as normal, no icons on dash after the repair, next morning same issue occurred again while driving, icons come on dash, immediately car goes into limp mode. Circling back to the biggest concern, is I’ve found large amounts of owners having the exact same if not oddly similar issues with varying years of the Jeep Patriots. Many are reporting my reason for this report in that suddenly after Jeep dealers require all these repairs they’re experiencing the engine completely shutting off while driving. This is incredibly dangerous and I’m concerned as to why there a. Isn’t a repair for this common issue in these models, and b. Why a recall hasn’t been submitted for the most dangerous scenario where many owners are having their cars engines shut down while driving, and some at high speeds. This is incredibly dangerous and frustrating that our safety has not been addressed when online there are years worth of forums for these issues without resolution.
Unknown: something is wrong with the gas tank. When refueling, it's nearly impossible to activate the latch on the pump handle without the pump immediately stopping. To refuel, I have to gently squeeze the trigger to enable a very slow flow of fuel. To fill the tank, while gently activating the trigger, takes approximately 15-20 minutes. In the past, you could depress the trigger and activate the locking catch and fill up in 3-4 minutes depending on the pressure of the gas station system. I don't know if this issue points to a safety problem, however, clearly it's a defect. I consulted the Jeep dealership and they recommended to not fully insert the nozzle into the filler neck of the tank. It was a bizzare recommendation because it was never an issue in the past. Of course I tried their recommendation an as expected it made no difference. At a minimum, it's annoying as hell trying to fill up in chicago while holding a fuel pump handle when it's 20°f with a wind chill we'll below that! I thought that perhaps it was my local gas station. On a trip from chicago to I had to fill up twice each way at different stations and the issue persists.
Driving normal when I lost control of the throttle Jeep went into limp mode, the etc , traction control, and check engine lights came on, got a uo4o1 code, if I was on the interstate could have been bad when it went into limp mode, the electronic throttle control was bad.
Driving normal then suddenly power loss, Jeep went into acceleration then loss of power, the etc , traction control, and check engine lights came on, got a uo4o1 code, I was on the interstate with my son in the car. We were lucky to exit before horrible consequences. The electronic throttle control was bad.
After refueling the vehicle at a gas station, I drive about a 1/4 of a mile and the engine will stall and die. It will immediately restart and when I step on the gas pedal the engine has no power and will stall again. I will start it a third time and then it will run ok until I need to fill-up again. I think this is a safety hazard because I stand a good chance of getting rear ended being stuck in traffic. I have read many articles about people having the same problem. Seems the fix is replacing the gas tank which costs about $1500. 00. Please make the responsible party face this serious safety issue.
This car keeps shutting off and having overheating issues on and off while driving. I have replaced all pistons, fuel injectors, relays, gaskets, thermostats, hoses, and the catalytic converter. I've seen that over 60,000 cases have been reported about this issue with this vehicle and these vehicles are still being sold used at used car dealers despite the issues being unrepairable. This is a real safety issue as the car stops running with no warning no matter where you are driving. You can see all the same reports on multiple sites online. Why hasn't Jeep done anything about this issue? I know I bought mine used but I'm sure the used car dealer would have never had this vehicle on their lot if it was recalled as it should have been.
The crankshaft or cam shaft sensor is malfunctioning and my engine stalls while I am driving. This has happened about 10 times now. I found a recall for this issue on 2016 Jeep Patriots, but my VIN does not come up with any recalls. I believe this recall needs to be expanded.
Faulty gas tank. Doesn’t fill and gas shoots out during the fill process.
Lightning bolt symbol, check engine light and traction control lights came on and vehicle went into limp mode while taking my 3 yr old to pre school. Scans say vacuum leak/throttle body. This is a recurrent problem with these cars and has had recalls on certain ones. Almost didnt make it where I was going. . . Needs to be addresses on this model too. My car only has 76,721 miles.
The throttle body on my 2015 Jeep has been replaced twice and is faulty again for the third time. I've owned the vehicle since brand new from dealer. The throttle body’s main task is regulating air intake on the engine. The throttle body malfunction makes the Jeep prone to engine stalling, starting failure, or power surge while accelerating. It is a safety hazard and environmental hazard, since the problem impacts engines and emissions. Significant problems like reduced acceleration or deteriorating fuel efficiency.
The vehicle stalls after a gas fill up. Daughter was stuck in traffic. No power steering, brakes, etc. Started back up. Very dangerous. This has happened after every fill up.

I nearly died this time. The crankshaft sensor was replaced like advised and the engine stalled turning left in an intersection. Official complaint #2. Thankfully no one was behind me. See previous complaint for more details.
Vehicle engine stopped while driving. This could lead to potential danger. Started about 1 year ago.
Car stalls after fill up. Numerous online Jeep forums have noted this issue for years. There seems to be an issue with the “vapor canister”. Recall was apparently issued for 2011 model - but not older models. It is intermittent yet consistent problem over past few months. Please note that an engine stall leaves steering wheel locked and unable to maneuver car for a period until can restart. Can leave driver on a very dangerous situation traveling at speed !.
For the last 3-4 months my Jeep has been going into limp mode while in motion, sometimes at high speeds. There seems to be no pattern anymore and I’ve replaced the parts mechanics have suggested.
Warning lights on the instrument cluster, hesitation loss of power while traveling at highway speed.
I had the catalyst converter recall fixed in 2020 and now I am having to fix/replace the converter they replaced with the recall not even 3 years later and have been told that it wouldn’t be associated with the recall or replaced under warranty with it even though the life span on a catalyst converter is usually around 10 years not just little over 2 years old I shouldn’t be having to get it replace and pay the costs of a more recently fixed recall.
I've had my car since January 2022. Since last year, there's been a clicking noise once I begin driving & it'll click for awhile. For these past 3 months my check engine light has came on. The message from o'reilly's read "evaporative emissions system small leak detected. " the 1st time I was told to get the emissions system cleaner. The light went off. Second month, light came back on with the same message. This time I was told to buy a new gas cap. I did, light never went off. I bought the advance emissions cleaner & the light went off. This being month 3, light came on again June 2nd. Again told to get gas cap, I did & light never went off. Last week Tuesday, getting on the freeway, I accelerated as I got over 5 lanes. When I got to lane 3, my car jerked & by the time I got to the 5th lane, my vehicle started decelerating, with my traction control light coming on. I pulled over, being on the left side of the freeway. Turned my car off then restarted it and it wouldn't drive though my foot was on the gas pedal. Turned off then back on after a bit and it started driving slow then stopped, turning it off. Sat for a bit longer then started her again. Drove on the shoulder to get a clearance to get to the other side, by the time I got to lane 3 the car started decelerating again & the traction light came back on. While trying to be safe, I managed to get over the last 2 lanes and had to stop now on the right shoulder of the freeway. Turned it off. Sat for awhile and started it back up so I can get to the next exit. I drove the shoulder & even at a slower speed the car shut off again. Traction light came on each time it decelerate. Sat again for another while. And this time when I turned it back on, it started shaking which I immediately turned it off! I had to get towed. I researched, there's a recall for the time frame my vehicle was manufactured, which was may 2016 for the crankshaft senor causing the engine to stall, which never got fixed on its carfax I have.
After filling up vehicle (not overfilled) it stalls when I come to a stop or slow down for a turn. This just started today after filling up from the same fuel station I always use. The Jeep restarts after a few seconds after turning it completely off.
My fuel tank problem should be included in the safety recall m11/NHTSA 12v-142 fuel tank roll-over value. . I have taken my car to several Jeep dealers and have been informed the problem with this tank falls in the recall…I have been dealing with this problem for years…. I recently found out that the problem falls in the recall above…I took my car to the Jeep dealer, pelegríno in woodbury,NJ on 5/19/21 for the problem. . They informed me tank would have to be removed to be fixed…they never informed me that there was a recall…so I did not get it fixed at the time. I have been dealing with this problem since 2018.
The vehicle stalls while driving with no warning. This has happened 5 times in the last week.
When filling the tank with gas and then driving the vehicle, the vehicle either stalls, bucks really bad, or hesitates when accelerating. There is a heavy smell of gas. This unsafe condition has been traced to a faulty fuel tank valve that requires the entire fuel tank to be replaced ($1,000- $1,800). Others have experienced fuel being spewed out suddenly when refueling very slowly due to this same faulty valve. Any fuel system issue puts the vehicle at risk of fire, which is risks my life and my family's life.
Fuel tank receiver separated from the fuel door holder.
I have a problem fueling my 2012 Jeep Patriot. I have to dribble the gas into neck to prevent gas from blowing out of neck. My mechanic replaced neck. Still have the same problem. I have read of a recall due to valve inside tank sticking which could cause fuel to pour out if a rollover occurs but I'm hearing from mechanic that the problem with valve sticking is why I'm having a problem refueling. If both issues are due to the same valve problem, shouldn't the recall cover my Jeep? I have had my Jeep to my mechanic 3 times now for this issue in the past month. I have also had my Jeep stall if I accelerate quickly.
I would like to know if the vehicle was in the flood of 2020 1st of all. I've had this vehicle in many times before I was told there was no maintenance work done prior to me buying it from a dealer. Been addressing a bad odder upon starting the vehicle for over a year. The smell is in the cab also. Now being told it could be the catalytic converter @ 51,000 miles on the vehicle. I've already spent over $1,300. 00 to cover normal maintenance that was never done by the dealer I bought the vehicle from. My extended warranty ran out a month or so ago. This has put my life in danger being I'm breathing exhaust/ fumes. Please advise & thank you.
