Seven problems related to car stall have been reported for the 2016 Jeep Renegade. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 05/05/2021

This car comes almost to a dead stop and stalls when accelerating. Its dangerous because it will stall right as I'm entering traffic and attempting to get up to the speed of traffic during a time when all other cars around me are also accelerating, it's happened since the first day I bought the Jeep I've already filed a complaint. These engines should be recalled.

2 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 11/10/2020

While driving the car loses power and the message "shift to park" appears then the car stalls. The car was traveling less than 25mph. The car may or may not start afterwards. The battery was replaced but the same problem occurs. This has occurred multiple times and has stranded me. It doesn't matter the outside weather conditions.

3 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 11/08/2020

Driving on highway at 70 mph up a minor incline, the vehicle started hesitating/chugging and then the accelerator pedal stopped responding. Vehicle stalled and coasted to stop where the idle was rough and then died. Initially, would restart, but then stall out. For the next 3 hours (while waiting for a tow), the electrical system was flaking out - intermittently flashing any error in its wheelhouse. Restarted next day and idle very rough/misfiring, engine light blinking and decent cloud of black smoke generated. Initial report from shop is that the engine oil is sludge (changed 5k miles ago), battery is completely dead (was already replaced at 15k miles) and a spark plug end is bent and in horrific shape. Vehicle has 25k miles and has been in service for 4. 2 years.

4 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 06/27/2019

The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Renegade. While driving approximately 25 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact attempted to restart the vehicle multiple times before it was able to restart. The vehicle was taken to a fuel station where the contact was informed that the engine needed oil. The contact was able to add oil to the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to barbera autoland (7810 e roosevelt blvd, philadelphia, PA 19152, (215) 333-3700) where it was diagnosed that the engine block was cracked. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000. The VIN was unknown.

5 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 05/14/2019

The car stalls frequently with no warning at speed and also when executing a stop. It uses a huge amount of oil, 5 qts between changes. I took it to the dealer and they told me that this car stalls if the oil level is low. This means they recognize an issue and have done nothing about it. How would I know this, and how low does the oil have to be to stall? this is not normal and if it is 'normal' why have they not told all Renegade owners? I will never feel safe in this car because if it stalls on the freeway at 60 mph I will most certainly have a crash.

6 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2017

Been happening for past month first issue happened in Jan 2017 call stalling having hard time restarting. Backing out of the drive way car stalls once done reversing and putting into drive. Have done it with rolling stop at stop sign/light.

7 Car Stall problem

Huntington beach Chrysler Jeep of huntington beach, California was made aware of the failure on two occasions and advised the contact to bring the vehicle in to be serviced. The second time the failure occurred, the dealer stated that the failure was due to a software glitch at 500 miles. The dealer was contacted again for the failure that recurred at 1,300 miles, but the vehicle was not taken in for service. The contact did not notify anyone the first time the failure occurred. The manufacturer stated that it was not their responsibility and referred the contact to the dealer. The failure mileage was 500.
