Jeep Renegade owners have reported 9 problems related to wiring (under the electrical system category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Supposedly some rodents or something chewed the wires in the Jeep and the evap, probably because of the soy used in the wiring. This resulted in the fuel gauged indicating it was empty even with a full tank and made it feel unsafe to drive. Not sure of how dangerous or hazardous this may have been but it was alarming and the manufacturer is not taking responsibility for it, even though they used the soy wires.

All right rear lamps failed due to wiring hardness with center grounding wire burnt. Rear lamps are no longer functional. Also this would have cause a spark, enough in the right circumstances to cause a fire, and consider it a safety concern. Bulbs when out when out after replacing when out again this lead me to investigate and saw the burnt ground wire. I called the dealership and ask if any recalls and told me they would look at it and also charge 130 diagnostic charge . I believe you have a similair complaint on this issue. Please investigate.

Purchased 4/20/2017 the problems began with the ac going out at 10000miles. The dealership didn't want to fix it told us to drive with the windows down. After arguing about our warranty we got a loaner. Next they replaced the wiring harness 2 times. Again, did not want to provide loaner had to complain for them to honor warranty agreement. Then transmission skips and radio frequency hub was replaced twice while in the shop for 4 months from Dec 14 2018 till around March 17 2019. Steering module replaced due to the steering wheel in the center getting completely hot. Complained about the transmission skipping still. Check engine light always comes on. Automatic start faulty. Will attach all repair invoices. Most recent! 5/6/2019, a Monday the car was scheduled due to a recall on the fuel pump and the automatic start would not work. Along with that when the car started the screen would flash warning signs: emergency break system, airbag system warning. The service department claimed to not have a loaner. However, Friday 5/10/2019 I had not received a call back and on my way to take my daughter to school. The emergency breaks locked up while driving 70 mph down fm 1289 heading to port o'connor, texas from port lavaca, texas. I went straight to the dealership and demanded a loaner. The vehicle is clearly a lemon! however larry taylor, a service technician, told us "I value my life I would not drive this vehicle". Paul perez service department manager said "I wouldn't put my family in that vehicle. " then they demanded we bring the loaner back 5/17/2019 to pick up our vehicle. The vehicle according to them had a short circuit, this is the second time mind you, and made the emergency breaks engage and the seat belts malfunction. Also, the airbags malfunctioned flashing warning as the breaks locked up. I could only select 3 options but seat belts needs to be checked.

My 2016 Jeep Renegade trailhawk vehicle has an intermittent problem in the driver seat electrical wiring. The driver seat power switches controlling the seat movement have become non-operational. I am reporting a possible safety problem that has developed over recent months with my 2016 Jeep Renegade trailhawk 4x4. The vehicle has a recurring malfunction with the driver side seat electrical wiring assembly. The problem occurs intermittently after the seatbelt is properly secured and there is normal body movement in the driver seat while the vehicle is either in motion or stationary. The problem so far affects several of the electronic subsystems connected to the vehicle's driver seat. This malfunction has caused temporary or permanent disabling of the driver seat power controls, airbag system, electronic parking brake system and seatbelt warning system.
It started four(4) months after I got the car brand new. I was driving home from work, I decided to take the back roads, I could not use my brakes. I took the car in to the dealership and the ecu had to be changed. A few months later my radio was recalled and that had to be changed. I've had a probably four(4) month battle with the day time running lights going off then coming back on out of nowhere. The first time the dtr went out the lightbulb was changed and the metal on the base of the lightbulb was melted off. ( I do not have pictures of it the dealership took it when I showed them) I took it back to the dealership after the second time the light kept going on and off. They checked the vehicle and said the resistance was too high and they didn't know why. Therefore I had to wait on parts to change the wiring and sockets for the dtrs. It is a 2018 Jeep Renegade and I'm very tired of having to take my, not even, two(2) year old car to the dealership to get something electrical fixed every few months. I'm not sure of the date it all started so I approximated.

I purchased my 2018 Jeep Renegade may 29, 2018 at the Dodge, thompson, Chrysler dealership in baltimore, MD 21224. On December 9,2018 in the early morning my vehicle caught fire. Luckily me and my two young sons were not in the vehicle when the fire ignited. The fire ended up smoldering from lack of oxygen because my windows and doors were shut an locked. I contacted the Chrysler manufacture and an investigation is being done. The fireman that came said it looks like an electrical fire due to faulty wiring.
Vehicle was in motion, the wiring harness wires melted into the fuse box.
