Other Fuel System Pump problems of the 2006 Jeep Wrangler

Jeep Wrangler x 2006 automatic. Sthall while running in highway . Then would not start ,no crank. No fuel pump start , no panel indicators working. Shows a 06- 02 code error in panel. Mean fueling calibration error. 3 or 4 days later it start like new.

Fuel pump does not shut off when full causing about 10 ounces of fuel to spray on me and on the ground. It also drips down the paint which can cause issues down the road over time.

Fuel pump will not shut off when the tank is full resulting in gasoline spilled on the vehicle and all over the ground.

The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that after adding fuel to the vehicle, the fuel pump automatically shut off and fuel sprayed out of the filler neck. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The mechanic stated the fuel purge valve had to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 36,000.

When putting gas in my Jeep using a fuel pump gas runs out all down the side of my vehicle and makes a puddle on the ground before the pump clicks off. This has been happening for over a year now. It happens every time I fill up my car unless I happen to hear how close the gas level is getting and shut the pump off on my own.

While pumping gas at multiple different gas stations, the pump failed to shut off when the fuel tank became fuel. As a result of the pump not shutting off, fuel spilled out of the tank as it became overfilled. I did not leave the pump nor did I set the lock on the pump so I would not have to hold the pump handle during any of the times I have pumped gas into the vehicle to avoid spilling fuel the best I can. This happens at many different stations that I fill my fuel tank up at, the only common denominator in my situation is the vehicle itself. The vehicle has not been modified in any way that would interfere with normal fuel pumping procedure.

When fueling, it always overflows and spills fuel out from the gas tank. It seems to be a bit better if I manually hold the fuel pump and pump the gas at an extremely slow rate. I am not able to let the pump automatically fill otherwise fuel spills. This happens every time I fuel the Jeep.

Fuel spills out of the filler port due to incorrect engagement of the stop on fuel pump nozzles. This is due to a malfunctioning icv. The Jeep has been doing this since I have owned it and the previous owner stated it did the same thing since he and his wife bought it in 2008 -when the vehicle was only two years old.

When I fill up fuel tank, as I get close to full, gas spits out of tank, also happens if I relaease fuel pump handle. Have had tank replaced. Work ok for about a year, now it spits gas again.

I bought my 2006 Jeep Wrangler rubicon new from a dealership. After about two years I started having issues with fuel spitting put of the gas filler when filling up at a gas station. This is my wife's vehicle and she compensated by not filling it full by shutting the fuel pump off before the handle would click. Over the years I have mentioned it to dealerships and repair shops and no one ever heard of it. It is at a dealership now for another issue and again I mentioned the gas spitting out of the gas neck and running down the Jeep side and getting me wet. They said they know about the issue and that Jeep and NHTSA had addressed the issue in a compromise by Jeep offering an extended warranty on 2007 and 2008 models and Jeep sent out communications to that effect. Since I have a 2006, I never received any notification about the fuel overflow problem, until now. I contacted Jeep and they acknowledged the issue but refused to address it. This is a very dangerous problem in that not only is it damaging my paint and wheel well flares but also spilling gas on the ground creating an environmental hazard as defined and regulated by the environmental protection agency, as well as splashing onto the person filling the Jeep covering them in flammable chemicals and exposing them to long-term health issues through inhalation and skin absorption as addressed by the national institutes of health.
