Vehicle’s inlet check valve for gas tank does not work properly when tank is filled at fueling stations. Does not trigger gas pumps to stop causing overflow and spilling on person / clothing / vehicle and gas station property. This is a known issue for 2005-2006 Jeep Wranglers. The issue was repaired by manufacturer for newer Jeep Wranglers. Currently no manufacturer ownership on remediation issue and/or recall for 2005-2006 model year Jeep Wranglers.
Every time I fill the Jeep up with gas, large amount of fuel spills out before the fill gun can stop it. I have been to many different gas station and it happens at all of them. This is a very dangerous, many others with my year Jeep have filled complaints and got the issue fix.
When I fill up with gas at a station, after the pump clicks, about a pint of gas splashes out of the filler and down the body onto the ground.
Every time I fill my Jeep, it overflows and spills fuel all over the side of my Jeep and the ground before the rule pump shuts off. I have this issue with every fill up at any fuel station I use. It will sometimes overfill and spill enough out as to necessitate the use of a fuel spill cleanup kit and I've had several shoes and pants ruined from spouting fuel. I have had several other Jeep Wrangler owners of the same year and model complain of this exact problem. I feel this is not only an environmental problem, but a fire safety problem as well. It cannot be safe to have a system that overfills and spills gasoline every single time you fill your vehicle creating a significant risk of fire.
I have a 2006 Jeep Wrangler tj I bought used have had it going on 6 months and everytime I go to the gas station and fill up when the pump kicks off the gas spews out all down the side of my Jeep flares and the Jeep itself and down onto the ground when I filled it up the first time it was all over my hand my leg and ruined my shoes!! I got on a jepp forum and was told to get a GMC filler hose with a check valve and I did and paid to have it installed and I still have the same issue. I have done a lot of research on the internet and I am not alone here this is a huge issue and it is going to lead to someone getting hurt or worse killed!! is this what it's going to take for you to fix this problem with the Wranglers? I sure hope not!! this is beyond ridiculous and needs addressed and fixed ASAP. . . . .
Every time I fill my Jeep with gasoline, when it reaches it's capacity, gas spews out of the filler tube and onto the rear fender flare and subsequently onto the ground. This is not a new issue with these Jeeps and it is a fix that should be done by the manufacturer due to the obvious safety concerns. This is a fire hazard and could cause serious injury if not corrected. This happens every time I fill the vehicle up with gas and it's ridiculous.
While fueling and before the pump automatically shuts off, fuel sprays out of the filler neck, runs down the fender and onto the ground. This is not just randomly it happens at every fill up.
2006 Jeep Wrangler unlimited after getting fuel filled I pull out of station and it starts hesitating and then stalls in middle of street. It nearly caused an accident from car behind me I had to restart and it would stall and bog few more times then run ok. Today I fueled up and pulled out of station at a 6 lane divided road with an interstate with on and off ramps both sides so I had only 100 feet to cross three lanes to get into left turn lane for interstate as this lane goes under and at light turns left to on ramp, just to give you insight on situation, I fuel up pull out and it shuts off cars have to stop I am in middle of three lane dead in the water it starts back up and I pull up thank god a safe distance to car in front of me and it bogs down and the surges making the Jeep thrust forward had to brake hard no accident was caused but god forbid it could have please research this.
During the refueling process fuel will spray out of the nozzle spaying me and the vehicle. This happens without warning and will take you by surprise if you are not careful. This happens every time I have been reading about this problem with this year of Jeep and it seems as if there are a lot of vehicles involved with this problem for the year I own. Google "gas spill problems Jeep 2006" and you will see.

Severe fuel spit back when filling up my Jeep Wrangler. Gas spilled all over the vehicle and ground!.
Gasoline overflows while refueling. Pump doesn't shut off. It appears to be a common problem with 2005 & 2006 Jeep Wrangler tj and lj (unlimited).
Every time the gas is filled, fuel overflows and pours onto the vehicle, ground and whomever is standing near it.
Obviously there are many complaints yet you guys are ignoring them. You fill up with gas and at top off it spits gas out that gets all over the person filling clothes. This is a major problem that you need to get off your asses and get this problem resolved before someone gets hurt. I purchased this vehicle recently and filled up 5 times and this occurred everytime. Fix it!.
Fuel spillage at the pump. Belches gas out after the pump clicks off.
When fueling the fuel overflows every time. This can not be safe.
Gas pumps will not fill vehicle properly. Gasoline spills from filler neck across back end of vehicle whenever I fill vehicle with fuel.
I was filling up the Jeep and the gas spill out form the nozzle. I have read online and it seems to be a constant issue. This is not the first time it happened to me and I have been to several different gas stations.
Every time I fill up with fuel, the fuel overflows out of the vehicle and dumps gasoline onto me and the ground. This has a long term health effect on persons filling the vehicle. It has an immediate effect on the environment, and I will be notifying the epa of this issue as well. I see from various Jeep websites that this is a long standing issue that has not been addressed.
Gas spill out when fueling to now will not take gas at all without major spillage.
Every time I fill up my Wrangler, it burps out fuel. This happens regardless of the speed of flow the gas( I have had this issue when slowly filling up as well as when the pump is engaged and "locked" on too. It is ridiculous that fuel spills every time I have to get some.
At every fill up fuel spills all over myself ,my car and the floor. Very unsafe! automatic shut off never kicks in when full. How many complaints do you need and for how many years! does anybody actually read them besides the consumer? there are over 500 complaints of this on this website alone. What does it take to get a recall?.
I own a 2006 Jeep tj rubicon & am having a refueling issue at the gas pump. At first it overflowed maybe twice. Now I can't refuel without the shut -off (on the gas pump) shutting off. The only way I can refuel is by holding the pump lever gently which does results in an over flow. I talked to Chrysler customer service & they said this is the first time they have heard of this problem & made an appointment for me for diagnostics a my local dealership which will cost me $120. 00 for a problem that other tj owners are talking about on the internet. This has been a refueling problem for the last 6 months.

Just purchased a 2006 Jeep Wrangler sport. All stock. When fueling the vehicle, once the fuel is almost full or to the point of full, the fuel shoots out of the fuel inlet. Also, it does not trip the fuel shut off on the dispenser quick enough.
Fuel system spews fuel all over vehicle and operator when filling. Will not shut off on its own.

Fuel splash-back upon filling vehicle with fuel. Fuel covers out side corner of vehicle and ground creating hazardous conditions as well as polluting ground water.
When fueling vehicle, at about 7/8 full point, gas sprayed out of fuel neck onto me. Then cut off on the pump never engaged. Has happened numerous times.
I bought my 2006 Jeep Wrangler rubicon new from a dealership. After few years I started having issues with fuel spitting out of the gas filler when filling up at a gas station. About 1/4 to 1/2 cup at a time. Doesn't matter which staion or which pump I use. The pump I use would click off,but always a second too late. This is a very dangerous problem in that not only is it damaging my paint and wheel well flares but also spilling gas on the ground creating an environmental hazard as defined and regulated by the environmental protection agency, as well as splashing onto the person filling the Jeep covering them in flammable chemicals and exposing them to long-term health issues through inhalation and skin absorption as addressed by the national institutes of health. Not to mention with the fuel spilling out like that, it also creates a lot of fuel vapors. With jus a static spark, it could very well ingnite the fuel. I consider that a very dangerous situation.
Overflow of gas when filling 100% of time.
Fuel overflow everytime I fill up, pumps will not shut off until fuel is spilling out filler neck, happens at every gas station I have tried. Happens at every fill up.
