2 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2020

I have a current recall for a defective airbag in my 2007 Jeep Wrangler. The airbag is currently not operational. Every 1-2 minutes while drive the airbag light will come on and ding. This is a serious safety issue and it makes the vehicle incredibly annoying to drive. A local repair shop diagnosed the error codes and they said the problem is related to the following recall and I should take it to a dealer to be fixed. Manufacturer recall number: s33 NHTSA recall number: 16v-290 I waited for the first available appointment and took my vehicle to autonation arapahoe Jeep in centennial, colorado today. They said it will be a year and a half or more before the part is in stock. They will not be able to fix the issue until then. This is completely unacceptable to have the manufacturer acknowledge a defective airbag and I have to wait a year and a half to get it fixed. Sadly, I don't know what recourse I have to get it fixed. Aside from paying $500 out of pocket to have the local auto repair shop fix it. Which is what they quoted me for. And said they could the part in stock to repair in 2 days.

5 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 10/12/2017

Takada recall. I recently had my recalled defective takada air bag replaced under warranty at antwerpen Jeep in catonsville MD. After replacing the air bag, I was informed that the air bag light was still on in my vehicle. They told me they could diagnose the light for $135. 00. I refused to pay this because they had previously replaced the clock spring under warranty and I informed them of my air bag light problem then. They wanted to charge me $200. 00 at that time to diagnose the system that they had just worked on. I now feel that I cannot trust this dealership to work my vehicle for these safety issues. This Jeep has never been in an accident and only has 80,000 miles. Please help me resolve this problem I have had since I bought this Jeep new in December of 2006 from antwerpen Jeep of catonsville. Thank you.

10 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2016

My airbag light comes on intermittently. I have tried cleaning the wiring connectors under the front seat but this has had no effect on the light going on or off. This happens sometimes as it is sitting still as well as while driving. I have found this being an issue while researching this problem online in every forum that I have searched in. This has been happening for several months now and I am concerned that the airbags won't deploy when and if needed. I have kids that drive and ride in this vehicle.

11 Air Bag Light On problem

Fuel over flows when filling up. Jeep shakes violently at random times. Air bag lights up and dings at random times.

12 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 12/14/2015

"takata recall" as of yesterday, December 14, 2015, a white tape started coming out of the steering column. A few weeks ago, the air bag light would come on and go back off which I thought was odd but, it went back out so I wasn't concerned and it never stayed on for any length of time. Then yesterday I get in my Jeep to go to work and as I turn the wheel out of my driveway, I could hear this noise like someone was wrinkling up paper. It is only eight miles from my home to work so, I kept listening to figure out what it was. By the time I got to work, there was a white tape coming out of the steering column. After work, I took it and had it looked at and was told that the "clock spring" is unraveling in the steering column. Usually this is only seen when you have been in an accident and the air bag has been deployed. I have never been in an accident so, it should not be unraveling inside the steering column. I was also told, I shouldn't drive my vehicle because there is a chance the air bag will deploy. I got it home and now it is sitting in my driveway.

13 Air Bag Light On problem

14 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 10/08/2015

Over the last 2 year, I have been having issues starting my Jeep. It would not crank at all 2 or 3 times and than start with no problems. It would be fine for a few days and than do it again. Morning, afternoon, when raining or snowing, it is unpredictable. Starting 3 days ago, my air bag light is coming on when turning left and than would go off after a few minutes of driving. Today, I had it checked at work and it came up as the driver side air bag is the source of the problem. I drove to big o Dodge in greenville and the service department just blew me off telling me that their is no recalls or problems with my Jeep. But I happened to know one of the technician there that told me on my way out that they are having some issue with the Wranglers concerning these issues. So I decided to look online and come across a lot of similar complain on forums concerning my issues and than came across your web site. Sean vercammen, 864-382-7880.

15 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/04/2015

Airbag light on cluster blinks and also makes makes a beeping sound. It will not shut off, therefore there will be a problem with airbag deployment if a accident occurs. There are no current recalls on this problem, only ongoing investigations. I feel very unsafe driving this car. If there are no recalls for this problem, the dealer will not fix it. I cannot afford to pay the dealer for this safety defect,as it is no longer under warranty. Thank you.

The airbag light will not go off. Their has been no crash. It just came on and will not shut off. I have contacted the dealer and was told it was the clockspring. Was also told this is a common problem with 2007 tto 2011 Jeep Wranglers. The cost is about $500 to $600 to fix.

22 Air Bag Light On problem

My air bag light kept coming on and turning off. Finally I had my Jeep looked at and I came back that the clockspring is bad. Its about $500 to have it fixed and I dont have the money. Also it had 60,000 mi on it at the time. I've been on Jeep forums and this is a continuing issue with Jeeps. Why have the 08's been recalled for this problem and not the 07's? can this be looked into please? I have called Chrysler about this and they dont care I would really hate to get into a wreck seeing how I dont have airbags.

The air bag lights keeps randomly coming on & off on my 2007 Jeep Wrangler 2wd. No particular time or day or speed. I can be sitting at a stop light & it comes on. As I was driving my air bag light came on on it still comes on, th his has never happened but I'm worried if it's a faulty air bag? or something that might be harmful later, since I have 2 kids just being concerned because I saw in the news that there is a recall on airbags from I think tataka air bags manufaurer and saw Chrysler as one of the companies using these airbags on their vehicles!!?? thank you for all the hard work! best regards.

28 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/08/2014

I have been having trouble with my 2007 Jeep Wrangler unlimited x air bags. I will be driving down the road and the air bag lights will randomly ding and go off. Both the air bag light on my dash board and the passenger air bag light will keep randomly go off. I have done nothing different, I haven't even adjusted the seats or belts so I'm not sure why this is happening, but I do not feel safe at all. I'm afraid the air bags are going to either randomly deploy or not work if I were to ever get in a wreck.

29 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/10/2014

Clock spring recall for air bag failure on 07 Wrangler, mine is doing the very same but no recall on my Jeep. This is an extreme safety hazard and I would expect a defective part to be replaced not at my cost. I thought I was buying dependability but now my family is at risk. Blinker, horn no longer work, air bag light comes on.

30 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/06/2014

On 6 June, I noticed my Jeep jk air bag indicator illuminated and then disappears within a minute. Later on it started again and has now frequently turns on and off approximately one minute or more but less than two minutes regardless of the speed of driving. I've researched about this issue and several other owners had the same issue (2007-08 models). Chrysler CO said it is not a recall, but according to several website says it is and is covered on an extended warranty or 150,000 miles.

31 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 05/22/2014

Airbag light comes on and goes off constantly. First day was about every 20 or 30 seconds but by the second day it would come on stay on for 30 seconds or so go off and come on immediatly again. This is a left hand drive and was produced 4/07. Obviously the same clockspring as the l37 problem. Code 1b06 is displayed on the code reader at my mechanics shop. The oil pump failed on this Jeep and the motor siezed at 9100 miles and was replaced. I also had alarm problems from the start which were never fixed. I almost had it declared a lemon but gave up.

32 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2014

I noticed a few months after purchasing my used 2007 Jeep Wrangler sahara unlimited that on occassion, no particular speed or incident, the airbag light would indicate on that dash for the passenger side seat airbag even when no one and nothing would be seated in passenger seat. During one of my oil change/service appointments that I regularly keep I asked if they could identify the issue and had stated it may just be an electrical sensor issue in the seat itself that had been damaged with an unsubstantiated weight placed in the seat, such as a bag or small child, that affected the sensor was not rated for. I was doing a recall search for my vehicle, none listed, but noticed complaints filed for many vehicles of the same make and model for this very same issue I'm having with the airbag indicator. Date investigation opened: may 23, 2011 date investigation closed: Nov 07, 2011 NHTSA action number: pe11019 component(s): air bags I'm simply filing this complaint to indicate my vehicle appears to have the same issue indicated and if any action is taken to correct it I'd like to be alerted so as to have the issue resolved on my vehicle.

33 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 09/19/2013

My airbag light came on the dashboard. When I turn the steering wheel to the left or right the light will go off then come back on. If I am going straight the light will stay on until a turn is made. Reading on the blogs it is definetly the clock spring. I know there is a recall on rhd Wranglers, and this is crazy. I would think they use the same part in all Wranglers!.

34 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2011

Airbag light keeps coming on. If I turn off motor, then restart, airbag light will be off and after a short time light will come back on. After doing some research I am sure it is a defective clockspring.

35 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/23/2011

Wrangler has a failed clockspring and always gets airbag light on after driving for a short period of time. Dealer wants to charge an exorbitant amount to fix this. There are many failures reported and Jeep should be liable to fix this problem.
