Five problems related to automatic stability control (asc) have been reported for the 2007 Jeep Wrangler. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Automatic Stability Control (asc) problem

Failure Date: 12/17/2011

While traveling on interstate at posted speeds every rough patch of roadway or going over a bridge (bump entering or exiting bridge) the steering wheel would shake violently. I would let off gas, gently apply brake and pull onto shoulder to get control back of vehicle. Sometimes I would have to come to a complete stop before the shaking would stop other times between 5 to 20 mphs the shaking would stop. This was a 300 mile trip home, I reduced speed to see if this would decrease the effects, it seem to help where roads were smoother but happened nearly just the same. The vehicle is equiped with electronic stability control which never activated. It has happened numerous time since Dec 17 2011.

2 Automatic Stability Control (asc) problem

Failure Date: 02/11/2008

2007 Jeep Wrangler four door. When driving at highway speed and during a turn if you encounter a small bump the vehicle suddenly shakes to the point where you lose control in the turn. It is known as the death shake to the dealerships. They knew what was wrong before I had finished my sentence to them. Bad front shock stabilizer. They are poorly manufactured.

3 Automatic Stability Control (asc) problem

See attached document. The consumer stated the vehicle stalled on several occasions. The dealer was unable to duplicate the stalling problem. The consumer then received a recall regarding the totally integrated power module. The document stated the vehicle was programmed with software that may cause the engine to stall under certain operating conditions. The vehicle was reprogrammed. Soon after, the esp and bas control lights illuminated on the dashboard. Afterwards, the traction control system light illuminated.

4 Automatic Stability Control (asc) problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2007

When using a highway on or off ramp, the electronic stability control program engages suddenly causing a loss of engine power and grinding brakes. This issue normally occurs when the vehicle is on an incline and is well within safe speeds for the given road. This problem occurs even when the electronic stability control program is turned off.
