41 problems related to front suspension have been reported for the 2007 Jeep Wrangler. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Tl-the contact owns a 2007 Jeep Wrangler 4x4. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph over an uneven road surface, the front end of the vehicle began to shake violently. The vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road where the engine was turned off. Upon restarting, the contact resumed cautiously with the hazard lights activated. The vehicle was neither diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 123,000. Kmj.
Driving home on the highway at about 60-65 mph around a small bend I hit an uneven part in the road the front end starting shaking violently out of control I almost could not hold the wheel. I slammed on the breaks and the shaking didn't stop until I can to a complete stop. This was also in a lot of traffic. Another mile down the road the same thing happened again. I thought I was going to lose control and crash into the wall. The entire front end was bouncing up and down the wheel vibrating so much it was hard to hold onto. Again with people driving home in rush hour I had to slam on the break in the middle of the road come to a complete stop before this violent shaking would stop. Again I thought I was going to crash.
In 208 I purchased a 2007 Jeep Wrangler, with 11,000 miles, after driving only 1,000. Miles my front end starting wobbeling violentley, returned to dealer and they stated my tires needed to be road forced balance, within 3 months while driving to work going about 45mph the truck front end did the know death wobblle, returned to the dealer only to be told my tires were cupped, purchased new tires, sseem to eliviate the problem, only for it to happen several more times and two additional set of tires. I am now drivng on a set of tires that is less than a year old, and haing the same issues, was on the interstate last week driving about 70mph when out of nowhere my front end started to wobble out of control, I did mangage to slow down enough but was shifted into another lane, could not control the steering, was lucky the interstate was not busy, this could of resulted in a major accident. I dont undersand why a recall has not been issued on the suspension, the 2010-2011 Jeeps have had one so obviously Chrysler is aware there is a problem with the front end suspension. This will be a costly repair,so many different possible solutions but none are a guarantee, seem to me Chrysler needs to step up and take responsibility for the faulty design before someone gets killed.
The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Wrangler. The contact was driving 60 mph when the steering and the front end began shaking uncontrollably. The contact stated that the shaking stopped when the vehicle increased speed. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a dealer or a mechanic for inspection of the failure. The contact stated the vehicle becomes very unsafe to drive once it would reach highway speeds above 60 mph. The failure mileage was 38,000.
The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Wrangler 2-dr4x4. While driving approximately 55 mph, the contact suddenly loss complete control of the steering wheel. The entire vehicle began to shake violently and uncontrollably. The contact was able to gain control and maneuvered to the side of the road. 2007 Jeep Wrangler 2dr. 4x4. . Approx mileage 65,000 miles. While driving a speed of 50-55 mph the vehicle encounters a bump in the road, or an uneven spot, a violent shaking begins and is uncorrectable until the vehicle is brought to a near complete stop. The dealership calls this the "death wobble". This has gone on for approximately 1 years whenever I hit a bump in the road driving anywhere from 35 mph and over. The most recent occurrence was the worst, it happened at a higher speed (approx. 65 mph) and resulted in a near collision/rollover. This is unacceptable and needs to be addressed by chysler Jeep ASAP. This is a major safety concern and potential loss of life issue.
I own a 2007 Jeep Wrangler rubicon. It has begun to experience what is known on user forums as a death wobble. When driving at 40mph + speeds, if the tires hit a fairly large bump, the entire front end shakes violently, causing the steering wheel to whip left and right. Because of the shaking, shuddering and whipping of the steering wheel, loss of control becomes iminent and sudden braking is the only option left to the driver attempting to regain control of the vehicle. This has occurred several times despite repeated inspections.
My Jeep Wrangler unlimited 2007 shakes violently after it hits a bump going aroud 40 mph. I have no modifications on it. I have to slow it down then I can go again. Its very scary and it feels like the wheels are about to fall off the Jeep. Its very unsafe cause I have to pull off to the side of the road and stop.
During normal operation of the vehicle at speeds above 40 mph, the vehicle shakes uncontrollably after hitting a bump in the road. The bump does not have to be large, and can be as small as a bad joint in concrete pavement. The only way to stop the shaking is to slow down the vehicle to a near stop. This occurred on an interstate highway with no shoulder, causing a near-collision.
Deathnwobble.
2007 Jeep Wrangler every time vehicle hits certain bumps vehicle wobbles violently out control. Occurs at least daily. Jeep was in many shops and 2 different dealers and problems continues. Almost all front end parts were replaced to no avail. This problems just started out of blue with no warning but is deadly!.
While driving 50 to 70 mph if the vehicle hits any small bump in the road it then begins to shake violently. There is a term given by Jeep owners that have this year Jeep called the "death wobble. " there are many of discussion groups online that talk about it and there is even footage on youtube. The only way to stop the wobble is to stop the vehicle as quickly as you can. Not safe at all at highway speeds. Why is there no recall on this issue? general motors was saved by the tax payers of the u. S. They should not be allowed to put vehicles that are unsafe on u. S. Highways. I only hope no one has been seriously hurt or killed from this issue. My Jeep is all stock from the factory. I have had no work or modifications done to it. There is no reason why Jeep owners that pay $24,000 or more for their Jeep to pay over $1000 to fix a safety issue that gm is responsible for. I have had a few recall on my Jeep for minor issues and had them fixed. This is a major issue.
1) I purchased a 2007 Jeep Wrangler x with 8,650 miles on the vehicle in 2008, kept the vehicle as it was, and it now has 43,000 miles. There were no events leading up to the failure other than standard safe driving practices. 2) the failure is commonly referred to as "death wobble" and is well documented on various websites. The "death wobble" occurs anytime the vehicle reaches 50 mph, and will continue as the speed rises or falls. 3) the problem has not been corrected in my Jeep yet, it is being taken in to a private mechanic to be fixed. I have attempted to gain assistance from Jeep (to include writing a letter to the president of Jeep) with an appalling and insulting response. 3).
Violent shake of the front end of my 2007 Jeep Wrangler jk rubicon. Seems to happen at highway speeds and feels like the entire vehicle is going to fall apart. This is a very dangerous problem and Chrysler needs to acknowledge it and put out a fix for this before it kills someone. It is known in the jk community as "death wobble" very common and needs to be fixed.
My 2007 Jeep Wrangler 2 door developed a violent shake when I would hit a bump or go over railroad tracks at speeds around 15 mph to 25 mph. The steering wheel would jerk left and right, almost to the point that I could not maintain control of the steering wheel or the vehicle. I could feel the front wheel shaking back and forth. The only way to stop it would be to bring the vehicle to a complete stop. After a great deal of diagnosing this issue, I removed the front traction bar and noticed that the bolt holes on both the frame and axle brackets that secure the traction bar had become elongated. Due to the vehicle being out of warranty, I took it to a welding shop. They advised me that the only way to fix this problem would be to weld a heavy duty washer on both sides of each mounting bracket to secure the mounting bolts. The welding shop also informed me that this would not be a permanent fix, but may last for a while. They also informed my that the metal brackets appeared to be made of weak metal and the bolts are grade 8. They said this explains that the bracket is weaker than the bolt and that is why the brackets gave way. After the washers were welded on the brackets, the shaking has gone and has not returned. I have read on jk-forum. Com of many other Jeep Wranglers that have had this exact same problem. This is a dangerous problem that needs to be investigated.
At highway speeds if the slightest bump is hit the vehicle starts shaking into what can only be described as a "death wobble". The only way to stop this is to quickly slow to under 15 mph. Mechanic replaced balljoints and steering dampener to fix the problem. Steering dampener has been modified by Chrysler because they know of this issue.
My 2007 Jeep Wrangler unlimited shakes violently and becomes uncontrollable if it hits a small bump in the road. This violent shaking is commonly known as "death wobble" and there are countless documented instances of this in testimonial and video form on the internet. This violent shaking has occurred 6 times, all at speeds between 45-65 mph. The Jeep dealership says that Chrysler knows of this problem and will not fix it. This is an extremely dangerous defect with this vehicle. The Jeep is out of control until it comes to a stop.
1. During normal driving conditions at speeds above 50mph the front suspension will sometimes go into a violent oscillation. The steering wheel, shimmies so violently that it cannot be controlled. The entire vehicle feels like it is coming apart. Not a simple wheel balance shimmy, this is a dangerous violent oscillation. 2. It gets progressively worse as time goes on. 3. It was taken back to the dealership, and they replaced the steering stabilizer which made the problem better, but it came back slightly, and progressively got worse, and worse. There is some underlying problem that the steering stabilizer is masking.
Was traveling at 55 miles per hour and hit a bump in the road. The front end started shaking like I had blown a tire. I pulled over, waited a few minutes and drove away. A few weeks later, the same thing happened. Took it to the dealership, was advised steering stabilizer was defective, took the vehicle to the dealer several times, after that only to drive away in an unsafe vehicle. The problem was not corrected by the dealership. Got tired of fighting with Jeep to fix the problem so I had to get the parts and fix it myself, but I still have the old parts. In addition, damage to the tires due to the steering stabilizer. Also do to the faulty part it caused damage to the tires and they still need replaced. Failure mileages was 46,695.
I own a 2007 Jeep Wrangler x 4 dr. 4x4 while driving down the road it will start violently shaking to the point you cant control the steering it occurs when the right front tire hits a small bump in the road the only way to correct this is to come to a complete stop then start again I drive the interstate to work I have had the Jeep into the dealer and they replaced a part on the steering did not help I have taken it to another dealership they said they couldn't find anything wrong something needs to be done before some body gets killed then it will be too late.
Violent front end shimmy known as "death wobble". Occurs at speeds of 40-50 mph. Vehicle shakes violently and is uncontrollable. Initially, tapping the brakes and slowing slightly would stop the shaking, but problem has progressed to the point that the vehicle needs to come to almost a complete stop to stop the shaking. This is a safety issue as the shaking poses an accident risk by virtue of losing control of the vehicle and/or a rear end collision, as there is nothing else to do but bring the vehicle to a sudden stop in order to regain control. This issue is well documented online and is the subject of technical service bulletin 19-003-06 (August of 2006). It should be noted, however, that this TSB does not fix the problem, it only masks the problem by adding a steering stabilizer.
2007 Jeep Wrangler "x" -- drive down the highway at 50mph, hit a bump and the entire front of the vehicle shakes violently and won't stop until you slow down to about 10mph. This has occurred a number of times. It is on its second visit to the dealer on this issue, I did web searches on the issue and saw numerous comments of the "death wobble" I firmly believe I experienced what I see on the web. I would return the vehicle and ask for my money back. . . . This isn't a laughing issue. Chrysler must have a permanant fix for such an issue or the public is at risk.
My Jeep Wrangler has had the death wobble, issues with the safety belts not retracting properly [broke my hand] had stalling and suspension problems, I currently have a chip on the bottom underside of the winshield. , when I had the death wobble the dealer told me I had to much weight on the front end from my bumper and winch,[I replaced the stabilizer wobble seems to have went away] they couldn't find a problem with the wobble or seat belts. It was my imagination, what I also had and is documented in the dealer files my accelerator stuck , I was fortunate some one else was driving so I could see his feet and the floor mats nothing was stuck when he stomped on the gas pedal it was just like the cruise control disengaged , my Jeep doesn't have cruise control. The brakes scare me at times, feel like their not there from time to time, I tell who ever drives it not to trust the brakes, this is my last new Chrysler, my hand still hurts. Maybe our goverment should force a recall like they did to Toyota to date my Jeep has only 22. 000 miles on the odometer . Good luck all.
Severe wobble and oscillation in the steering and front suspension system. A small bump in the road, while driving anywhere between 35-70 mph can initiate a severe, violent shaking, and a complete loss of steering control. After replicating the problem on a private road, observers outside the vehicle noted that the front tires would completely leave the ground on each oscillation. Many other Jeep Wrangler owners report similar incidents.
Upon driving over an uneven area of pavement (I. E. Train tracks, expansion joint, etc. ) steering wheel and front wheels shake violently back and forth. First occurrence in March 2009 at 24,575 miles, dealer determined it was the steering dampner, replaced. Second occurrence in September 2010 at 27,929 miles, dealer replaced the dampner and updated mounting bracket. Third occurrence April 2011 at 33,845 miles (only 5,916 miles on second replacement). Dealer refused to do anything because it was over the 12 month part warranty. Contacted Chrysler complaint resolution, same answer. They stated they contacted the dealer who said they refused repair due to "excessive off-road usage". Vehicle has not been used off road since the second replacement and the dealer has not seen the vehicle since then.
2007 Jeep Wrangler 2dr. 4x4. . Approx mileage 27,000 miles. While driving a relatively low speed (30 -45 mph), the vehicle encounters a bump in the road, or an uneven spot, a violent shaking begins and is uncorrectable until the vehicle is brought to a near complete stop. The dealership calls this the "death wobble". This has gone on for approximately 6 months time. The most recent occurrence was the worst, it happened at a higher speed (approx. 50 mph) and resulted in a near collision/rollover. Same has been returned to the dealership and is pending.
A violent wobble occurs at 60-65 after hitting a bump in road. I have taken it to the dealer three times. Chrysler did not have an answer as to why it happens.
My 2007 Jeep Wrangler unlimited shakes violently and becomes uncontrollable if it hits a small bump in the road.
Driving down the freeway, went across a bridge. The Jeep started the "death wobble". As soon as it went over the 'bump' on the bridge, the whole Jeep started to violently shake, as if the whole thing was falling apart. I had to pull over on the freeway, come to a complete stop. Its under warranty, took it to dealer. They suggested an "after market" steering stabilizer, which I paid for with my own money. The 'death wobble' continues. Dealership telling me there's nothing wrong. Im pursing the matter.
Contents are letter forward to terra flex. Original sent to vehicle owner. I understand your frustration with us. Please look closely at your picture. The tag states clearly the grease zert is to face down. When the heim is installed in this position the arm yoke will not line up with the axle mount " off center by 5 inches". This arm uses an offset design heim. I personally spoke with tech support at tera flex and their recommendation was to proceed with installing the arm with the grease zert facing down and the tag facing down. Tech stated the arm must have been mislabeled. I advised this will change the suspension symmetry as well as the arm coming in close contact with the frame when the axle reaches travel limits. Who ever I spoke with was grossly miss informed. We proceeded under advisement by tera flex and has now made us to be the fool in your eyes. When installing a highly modified suspension package we do so in accordance with the manufacturer recommendations so not to create a safety hazard. This is why I made the necessary contacts with tera flex when the printed installation procedure that came with the kit was not consistent with the part design. I am calling tera flex now. The owner of tera flex shall be advised I will be forwarding a safety advisement to the national highway traffic safety administration. You see , I am a triple master ase certified tech as well as a federal cfr qualified safety inspector. My reputation is set to the side when public safety becomes a predominate concern! I strongly believe the conduct of tera flex poses a clear and present danger to the public welfare, (I. E. High probability of loss of vehicle control causing personal injury or death). I am formally recommending you do not operate this vehicle (VIN# ) until such time the lift kit manufacturer, tera flex, issues a public notice of recall or technical service bulletin and provides it to all owners of this kit.
Drive a 2007 4-door Wrangler. Within 6 months of purchase, hit a small bump going around 50 mph on highway. Car steering vibrated uncontrollably moving about 2-inches side to side. No shoulder available (caused other cars to swerve away from me) but after breaking, it eventually stopped. Asked dealer service workers (while it was being looked at for second recall for computer/breaks) why this was happening, they claimed "that is what Jeeps do". Happened 4 more times until a witness from the road pulled me over to tell me "he thought my right front wheel was going to come off. " Jeep claimed to have never heard of it before. (there are website about "death wobble" everywhere). Brought to dealer, fixed tie rod. Happened again, said it might be a bad tire. Will be at my expense. Called tire manufacturer, to start a file.
2007 Wrangler 4- door unlimited. Popping felt through both steering column and gas/brake pedals when going over small bumps. No violent shaking like described in others. . . Just a very uncomfortable popping. The popping has become increasingly more noticeable over a period of about 3,000 miles. The popping is now audible. It has been at Jeep 3 times so far, with the only solution being to replace the tie rods to no avail.

The vehicle was inspected by the dealer and they advised him that they were unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000.
The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Wrangler 4x4. On three separate occasions, while driving between 40-65 mph, the vehicle would shake or vibrate uncontrollably after driving over a pothole or bump. The vehicle was taken to a dealer three times, but they could never duplicate the failure. The current mileage was 107,000 and failure mileage was 80,000. Updated 09/10/08. The second time the incident happened, the dealer replaced a faulty damper. Updated 09/16/08.
At highway speeds when the Jeep goes over a few bumps in the road it will go it to major shakes that don't stop until you pull off the road and come to a complete stop.
