36 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/10/2015

I have filed a complaint previously regarding the totally integrated power module or tipm and have been waiting almost two months for the dealership to get one in. I have heard and read further complaints regarding this matter and I would like to file a complaint on the NHTSA for not conducting themselves accordingly. They filed an investigation and reopened the investigation only to recall the vehicles for a tipm reprogram. Well now all those vehicles reprogrammed are facing a tipm equipment failure and there are no modules in production [according to Jeep dealership] lampe Dodge and Jeep visalia, CA. So NHTSA reopen your failed investigation and complete the work because Jeep dealers are charging $ 700-1200 to replace the tipm modules. This is rediculous how you have allowed the Jeep manufacture to correct this error. In November, 2013 a class-action lawsuit was filed against Chrysler accusing them of equipping thousands of vehicles with faulty totally integrated power modules (tipm). You own or lease a Jeep/Dodge/Chrysler vehicle and are having issues with your vehicle's tipm, or if you want to learn more about this class action against Chrysler, please contact girard gibbs llp at 866-981-4800 or by email at tipm@girardgibbs. Com.

37 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/13/2015

Total loss of power while driving at 55 mph, all dash warning lights came on and lost engine power. I was able to pull of road safely and car died completely. This is 4th time this has occurred. First time, with less than 75000 miles and Jeep dealer replaced battery. Second time was on vacation and died on freeway in harrisburg, PA, was towed to aaa shop and battery was replaced. Third time was near my home and husband recharged battery and taken to a local shop, who replaced alt. , that was yesterday. Tonight, on the way to work, happened again. Every time, no warning, dash lights come on a car dies. Any of these could have caused an accident but was lucky to get off the road safely.

38 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/13/2015

The doors will no longer lock or unlock, at times the locking of the doors is intermittent. We recently had the clock spring repaired at lampe Dodge and then the locks started malfunctioning. I took the vehicle to a repair shop and they called the dealership and were informed that I needed to replace the tipm module. I am researching this out myself due to the dealership reporting this was a common problem that Jeep is ignoring. Additionally I will be filing a report on the 2007 Wrangler exhaust system. The same repair shop was looking into the exhaust noise coming from this vehicle and informed me of two cracked exhaust manifolds. Additionally exhaust manifold 1 was missing 3 bolts and exhaust manifold 2 was missing 2 bolts. At this time the mechanic believed the bolts had been forced out of their location by faulty exhaust manifolds that warped.

39 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2015

Death wobble-have had this problem repaired and comes back. Cannot drive over 55 mph in city or highway without entire car starting to violently shake. Will shake for about a minute and stop on its own. Very scary and dangerous. Have had this problem for over a year.

40 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/31/2014

The passenger side low beam operates intermittently. The problem has been traced to the solid state relay on the tipm printed circuit board. The low beam usually operates after having the selector set to high beam for 20-30 minutes. The only remedy is replacing the tipm at substantial cost for a realtively simple and very important, safety related vehicle function. Replacement tipm units are not readily available, and there is no temporary repair possible. This failure effetively precludes legal operation of the vehicle until the costly repair can be completed.

41 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/25/2014

On the 2007 Jeep Wrangler (lhd) dashboard, the airbag warning light flashes on every other minute with a chime, an indication that there is something malfunctioning or interfering with the vehicle's airbags. This has been a recurring issue and concern for many 2007 Jeep Wrangler (lhd) owners, including myself, and has been shown time and time again to be caused by a faulty clockspring within the vehicle's steering wheel. This faulty clockspring is the culprit for potential airbag failure in the 2007 Jeep Wrangler (lhd) during an accident or premature deployment when simply driving around. Daimler Chrysler has refused to address the safety concern of their faulty clockspring that can cause failure of the vehicle's airbags from properly deploying.

42 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/15/2014

Jeep shuts off when driving on the highway.

43 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/07/2014

My air bag light kept coming on and turning off. Finally I had my Jeep looked at and I came back that the clockspring is bad. Its about $500 to have it fixed and I dont have the money. Also it had 60,000 mi on it at the time. I've been on Jeep forums and this is a continuing issue with Jeeps. Why have the 08's been recalled for this problem and not the 07's? can this be looked into please? I have called Chrysler about this and they dont care I would really hate to get into a wreck seeing how I dont have airbags.

44 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/28/2014

Was driving my 2007 Jeep Wrangler to work and I was going about 35mph around a corner and after I got out of the corner the Jeep jerked engine stalled kicked back on then stalled again then died and wouldn't start back up had to have it towed to the mech. Shop and he said the crank busted. . . . Love those junk 3. 8 Jeep wont admit theirs a defect with.

45 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/14/2014

46 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2014

While driving my Jeep Wrangler on a public road, the entire electrical system shutdown. This shutdown caused the power steering, brakes and electrical aspects of the vehicle to stop functioning. This is now the second time that this has happened to my vehicle. Once the vehicle was put into "park" , I tried to restart the vehicle with no success. The second time the vehicle started back up with no incident. There are many dangers involved with a vehicle suddenly "shutting down". My research has shown that there are many other Jeep vehicle owners that are experiencing similar experiences.

47 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/03/2014

There was not a fire but thought there was and 911 was called. I had the oil changed in March and again in July. In septermber there was a clicking noise coming from the engine and I pulled into a drive way and shut off the engine. I asked someone to look at it and when they tried to start the engine smoke came out of the vents and engine would not turn over. Turns out, that the Jeep had no oil in it and the engine burned up. The repair for a new engine is $5200. There were no warning lights at all. No "change oil notice", "low oil pressure" light, "overtemp" light, or "check engine" light. Had there been some kind of warning light before I ruined the engine it would not be so costly.

48 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2014

As I was driving my air bag light came on on it still comes on, th his has never happened but I'm worried if it's a faulty air bag? or something that might be harmful later, since I have 2 kids just being concerned because I saw in the news that there is a recall on airbags from I think tataka air bags manufaurer and saw Chrysler as one of the companies using these airbags on their vehicles!!?? thank you for all the hard work! best regards.

49 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/06/2014

On 6 June, I noticed my Jeep jk air bag indicator illuminated and then disappears within a minute. Later on it started again and has now frequently turns on and off approximately one minute or more but less than two minutes regardless of the speed of driving. I've researched about this issue and several other owners had the same issue (2007-08 models). Chrysler CO said it is not a recall, but according to several website says it is and is covered on an extended warranty or 150,000 miles.

50 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/08/2014

My airbag light is coming on and then going off coming on and going off when I'm driving or park it does not matter it could be a faulty clock spring that was never recalled and when I purchase the vehicle the dealership knew about it and did not disclose it.

51 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/14/2014

Driving at 35mph dash illuminates random lights, speed odometer fluctuates back and forth 0 to current speed, dash board dings and car slows and spontaneously stalls. Restarts immediately. This first incident occurred ages months back without stalling now is happening frequently . Will not be driving this car again until problem is identified and fixed, too risky.

52 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/04/2014

I started the vehicle and put the windshield wipers on due to the weather and smoke started coming out from the right side of vehicle caught it on time and it was the power module fuse box. Someone is going to get hurt if Jeep don't fix this problem.

53 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2014

I noticed a few months after purchasing my used 2007 Jeep Wrangler sahara unlimited that on occassion, no particular speed or incident, the airbag light would indicate on that dash for the passenger side seat airbag even when no one and nothing would be seated in passenger seat. During one of my oil change/service appointments that I regularly keep I asked if they could identify the issue and had stated it may just be an electrical sensor issue in the seat itself that had been damaged with an unsubstantiated weight placed in the seat, such as a bag or small child, that affected the sensor was not rated for. I was doing a recall search for my vehicle, none listed, but noticed complaints filed for many vehicles of the same make and model for this very same issue I'm having with the airbag indicator. Date investigation opened: may 23, 2011 date investigation closed: Nov 07, 2011 NHTSA action number: pe11019 component(s): air bags I'm simply filing this complaint to indicate my vehicle appears to have the same issue indicated and if any action is taken to correct it I'd like to be alerted so as to have the issue resolved on my vehicle.

54 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2013

I have had 4 electrical/engine events with the most recent occurring in July, 2014 after picking up my kids from camp. As I slowed down for a light, all dash board lights came on, the radio went dead and the engine cut out. Luckily I was coming to a stop at the light, and as I was looking at the dash trying to figure out what happened, the Jeep then turned back on. Please help.

55 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/22/2013

Jeep died completely - lost power and electrical while driving 60 mph on a hwy. This is the 4th time this has occurred - each time under different driving conditions. There is a recall for this issue with Jeep upto January 22, 2007 models. My Jeep is a February 2007 model so they are saying my Jeep is not covered under this recall.

56 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2013

Faulty clockspring causing multiple lights to be illuminated on my dash. Also have to have the steering angles sensor replaced with the clock spring.

57 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/29/2012

The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving 25 mph, he began to smell plastic burning. The vehicle was stopped and upon further inspection, he saw that the fuse box was on fire. The fire was extinguished and the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where the contact was awaiting diagnosis of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was unavailable. The failure and current mileage was 68,000.

58 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/06/2012

First occurrence Dec 6th 2012, backing out of an inclined driveway. Vehicle seemed as if it had no power, stalled, spitting and sputtering like it was starving for gas. Finally got it out of the driveway and was about 15 miles from closest Jeep dealership in ocala FL, and nursed it there, spitting and sputtering and stalling the whole trip. Left it overnight and got a call the next day where they had found the problem and a couple of other things wrong (unrelated to the problem) I approved the fixes and after $677. 00 later drove off the lot. The only thing I can see on the invoice that would have caused the original problem is a line that reads "cleaner-fuelsystem" and has a $59. 00 part and a $106. 00 labor charge. On January 13th 2013 it starts acting up again. I take it back to same dealership the next day and complain that I'm not going to come in every month and pay a $90. 00 diagnostics fee for something they said was fixed. So they plug it in and the code tells them I was running "lean" however they have no idea this time whats wrong. And of course it's not doing it so they "can't fix what's not broke". Between Jan and July it has done this many times, in the beginning it was once or twice a month but now will do it almost every trip. When it stalls completely I loose ps & pb, very dangerous. It now stalls at speeds of around 50 mph and I just have to pull onto shoulder to restart. Sometimes it restarts right away and other times I have to sit a short bit. It seems to be related to longer trips, 1-2 hours. But sometimes will happen after being on the road for 15 minutes. The stalling at 50 mph and loosing ps & pb is the most concerning in traffic.

59 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/10/2012

The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, she turned and the vehicle performed as if it were going to stall. The contact jerked at the steering wheel and the failure ceased. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for a diagnosis. The dealer stated that they had to reset the totally integrated power module. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and stated that the vehicle was not included in the recall associated with NHTSA campaign id number 07v291000 (electrical system). The failure and current mileages were not available. The VIN was not available.

60 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/28/2012

On this date I had ussues with the electronic throttle control, stared Jeep and the etc light came on , enginge ran rought then died , did this aprox 3 times, then read manual for guidance, it said to cycle the key a few times . Then tried again , ran ok but seems to be holding back, reading online posts this is a common problem, a stall in traffic could be fatal , need n open recall on all models and years, I am now hesitant to drive it. And knowing my dealership it will be a figment of my imagination or they will use me for an atm$$$$.

61 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/23/2012

The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler Wrangler sahara. The contact stated that the unoccupied vehicle was parked when it unexpectedly erupted into flames. The fire department extinguished the flames and informed the contact that the fire was an electrical fire, which originated from under the hood. The vehicle was completely destroyed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.

62 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/20/2011

2007 4door Jeep Wrangler. Noticed oil leak in February 20th. At first appearance assumed it was from oil change. As of now it appears it is a front main seal on the motor. . . Really! a 4yr. Old vehicle with 63,000 miles?! shouldn't be happening by my p. O. V. . . Also, power windows have failed to function on two occasions. And, interior light doesn't come on when passenger side door is opened. Either way, thank you for your time.

63 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2011

My husband was driving and I was in the passenger. It was 10pm and we were driving on a 4 lane highway going about 45mph when all the lights on the dash lit up and then the shut down( everything shut off ( lights, power steering, etc) after about 2 seconds the Jeep came to life ( we did nothing to restart it). We started to drive again and after about 5 seconds it shut down again. My husband pulled the steering wheel as hard as he could to pull us off the road and into a parking lot. We rolled to a stop my husband got out and opened the hood and just then the lights came on and he closed the hood got in and turned the key and the engine started and we drove home. I am scared to death to drive the car with 4 children.

64 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2010

Driving approx 30-45 miles per hour. While car was in motion all the dashboard lights (all the warning lights) flashed on and then went off and then the fuel level went to zero and the low fuel level light remained on. Put the car in park, turned car off then turned the car on and everything appeared to be working as normal. Incident occurred 2 times in 3 mths. 1st time power steering went out and break was difficult to push down. Contacted Chrysler and opened case. Dealership cannot replicate the problem ? suggest I remove the key chains. Call back if I experience the problem again.

68 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2010

2007 Jeep Wrangler unlimited 4x4 - 1. Everytime I fill gas tank, gas overflows out of tank at me and down side of Jeep. Serious safety issue. 2. Driving on the highway the other day and 3 different malfunction indicator lights came on in a matter of seconds, Jeep powered off. No power steering or brakes, traveling approximately 60 mph. Very odd, scary and unsafe??? car is at dealership, no clue why this happened at this time. Dealership needs to take engine apart at an estimated cost of $900. What is Chrysler going to do about these issues. ?.

69 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/08/2010

The sway bar will not reconnect on my 2007 Jeep Wrangler unlimited jk rubicon making it unsafe to drive at freeway speed.
