34 problems related to other fuel system tank assembly have been reported for the 2007 Jeep Wrangler. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Every time I fill up the fuel tank leaks during normal driving condition and especially while making turns or if parked it will leak in the parking spot as the day gets warmer. There is also a very strong fuel smell during this times and very noticeable by everyone in the Jeep or around it.
I took my Jeep to the dealership to take a look at gas tank sensor, I heard that was a recall, everytime I fill my tank, the gas nozzle doesn't stop and you see gas spilling all over. The dealership said he fixes as its shown on their dignose. Haven't drove since then, today I drove it and it had 1/4 gas in the tank, I stopped by the gastation to fill up the tank, found out that it doesn't allow any more gas in the tank and gas spilling all over again, the gas gauge is working along with fuel warning signal, its so weird and unsafe.
During refueling, when tank is full fuel overflows out of the filler as the pump shuts off. Every time at every gas station. Very dangerous, gas on the side of Jeep and on the ground.
I had service done on the gas tank but it still the gas spills out the Jeep only has as 48575 miles. Their saying it back pressure this is something that should be address to the manufacturer know their telling me to 1172 dollars. For something that is wrong on the gas than I would appreciate if you can help me with this issue I'm sending the report they gave me. This started at the gas pump station.
Each time I add fuel from a gas pump, once the pump stops automatically, the fuel spits out fuel, as if there is too much air getting into the tank and pushing out the fuel. This happens all the time, and gas gets all over my tire cover, Jeep body, and even sometimes on me, if I am holding the pump.
When ever I fill up the fuel tank it over flows or spits up gas, after the gas pump shuts off.
Every time I fill tank, it overflows. I have to stand by it and listen to hear when getting close to full, so I can manually stop it or it gushes all over every time. Fed up, its dangerous with gas all over the Jeep and ground. Many different gas stations, many different states, all the same.
When using a gas pump to auto-fill the tank, the pump shuts off and the tank overflows some of the fuel onto the paint on the outside of the Jeep. Doesn't matter what gas station I go to, the style of nozzle, or the angle the nozzle is used at. It over fills every time.
Everyime this vehicle is fueled full at the gas pump, it will not shut off when the tank is full. This results in an overflow of gasoline, everywhere. . . On my hands, down the side of my vehicle and puddles on the ground. There is no warning and the only way I am able to fill the tank is by turning the engine on and watching the mileage increase on the distance to empty (dte) display on my dash. . . . Which is not safe to do. It occurs everytime I fill up my Jeep. There is no recall to fix this issue. It's been an issue since I purchased my Jeep in March 2010.
So everytime when I fill my tank its over flowing and its a really big safety issues last week I was going to work and stopped in gas station and it over filled and my suit was all gas and went to work smeling as gas. Also this can be really dangerous . In the past under the service bulletin 14-001-11 I lot of Jeep owners changed this part for free but now the dealers are not changing it anymore and asking almost 1500$ to fix this issue was caused by Jeep. Jeep needs to reacall this cars and pay change the gas tank.
I originally took my Jeep in to the dealer ship because every time I would fill up the gas would overflow. They said that they replaced he filler neck because there was a recall on that. Now it takes 30 minutes to fill up the tank from 1/4 tank because the gas pump will click off every 2 seconds.
Strong smell of gas in the garage after shutting Jeep off for past 3-4 years. Fuel spit issue resolved with warranty 12/2013. Gas smell after shutting Jeep off continued. 09/2014 dealership pulled code p0456, "vent tube at tank broken. " paid to have dealership order and install a new tank only to find the "new tank has crack at rollover valve," had to order a second replacement fuel tank, installed with no problems noted. Heavy smell of residual fuel in the garage continued to persist to the point where we have to leave the garage open to vent the fumes for fear of ignition. Could not visually identify any fuel leak. All the while have had intermittent check engine lights coming off and on pointing to emissions and fuel system. Another trip to the dealership 07/2015, pulled code p0406, stated "couldn¿t find anything at this time. " heavy gas smell continues to get worse. 07/2016 took Jeep to mechanic, pulled codes p0456 and p0486, found the fuel tank vent tube was cracked again, needed a new fuel tank and egr valve. Back to the dealership. Tank is out of warranty, have to replace the 22 month old fuel tank again. The fuel system has had consistent problems from inception. The heavy gas odor and cracked fuel tanks pose a serious life safety and environmental concern. It is only a matter of time before a vehicle and/or a residence catches fire. The continuous exposure to gas vapors alone is serious concern due to the carcinogenic nature of fuel and its vapors. After researching this issue in various Jeep forums online, this does not seem to be a singular event and is actually quite common. Many Jeep enthusiasts are diy'ers and are modifying/jury rigging the vent tube themselves instead of paying for a replacement tank, which means there are a lot of Jeeps causing heightened emissions and pose further safety concerns that are going unreported and that you are unaware of.
Pumping gas to fill the tank always overflows. The sensor that tells the pump to shut off doesn't work causing gas to overflow all over the car, myself and the ground. What a waste of pricey gas.
I was fueling the Jeep and went back to sit in Jeep, and when tank was full, it spit out gas all over Jeep and ground. This is the first time it happened since I owned the Jeep for a month.
My 2007 Jeep Wrangler x is having problems with putting gas in the tank. It constantly overflows and spills gas all over the side. I've also seen incidents where gas has bounced out of the tank near the neck of the fuel door.

Each time I fill up and set the gas pump to 'auto fill' the gasoline spills out all over the ground when the tank is full and the pump fails to shut off. This occurs with no warning and I was splashed with gasoline again yesterday. I do not trust the car using the automatic feature as this has happened since I bought the Jeep new in 2007. I was doused with gasoline yesterday and I am seriously concerned about this issue. There are several complaints of similar nature found online for this particular issue. I contacted Chrysler about the issue and they were of no help and claim not to be aware of the issue. I think this is more than an inconvenience and is of a particular safety concern as gasoline is spewing out from the fuel receptacle. Please follow up with Chrysler and see if a service bulletin has been issued for this potentially dangerous condition.
I have a 4dr 2007 Jeep Wrangler sahara unlimited. 60k+ miles and no matter what gas station or what position I place the nozzle into the gas port when the tank fills it will shoot gas out all down the side of my Jeep onto the ground and on myself.
I purchased the vehicle in August of 2013. Every time I fill the gas tank up it overflows. The automatic shut off at the pump does not shut off until there is gas spilling out all over my vehicle, the nozzle and the ground. It happens 100% of the time.
Fuel spitback issue. Under extended warranty, Jeep Wranglers built 3/1/2007 - 3/31/2008 can have their fuel tanks replaced under warranty. Mine was built in January 2007. If this is an issue in so many other Jeeps that fall outside of these built dates, I don't know why they were not included. My vehicle spits out sometimes and estimated quart of gasoline after the automatic fill pump stops. It doesn't matter if it is pumping on the higher or lower speed. This gasoline, even though I wash it off every time, has left marks on my tires and I hope it does not corrode the paint or plastic trim.
When fueling vehicle, fuel spits back and overflows every time nearing full tank. Also sets check engine light p0440. Potential fire hazard.
Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that when the vehicle hits a pot hole or rough ground that front end of the vehicle shakes voilently. The failure occurred when the vehicle was traveling 45 mph and the contact had to pull to the side of the road in order for the shaking to stop. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and had the steering shock replaced, but that did not correct the failure. The contact also stated that when the vehicle is filled with gasoline the fule spills out of the tank. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 60,000 and the current mileage was 67,000. Whenever I fill my tank, it spits gasoline out all over the place. The overflow valve in the stem doesnt work. Not only is this an expensive issue as gas is lost at each fill up, but also environmentally unacceptable.
Every time I fill my 2007 Jeep Wrangler up at the gas station I get a huge explosion of gas that shoots out of the fueling area toward me when my tank reaches full and the pump clicks off. It is extremely dangerous because it spews at a high rate toward my face.
The fuel tank overflows every time it is filled. The system does not "click" or automatically shut off gas flow to indicate when tank is full, it simply overflows. I have tested many different gas stations and this issue occurs everytime, causing a dangerous situation for me and those around me, as well as environmental issues.
The fuel tank overflows every time the tank is filled no matter what station or pump is used.
Every time I try to fill my tank, it overflows. It doesn't respond to the shut-off mechanism. I've had my car since February of last year and it's happened every time I've tried to fill up for almost a year now.
The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the fuel tank overflowed a quarter of a tank whenever he refueled. The dealer was notified and stated that there were no recalls addressing the failure. The contact was informed that they were extending the warranties on other vehicles, but his vehicle was not included. They offered no other assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 50,000.
When refueling, fuel spits back out of tank. Approximately 1-1. 5 litres, every time when tank is filled. Usually comes out with enough force to cover my hands, pants, and shoes with gasoline. Very dangerous!.
Every time during fuel fill up on 07 Jeep Wrangler 4dr unlimited x, the fuel will spit anywhere from 1-3 pints back out of the gas tank all over the vehicle and the ground. I find this a major safety concern for both emissions and very possible fire hazards, not to mention the irritation of wasted gas over time= wasted hard earned money. Upon research, its a poor design within the gas tank and/or the evap sensor on the evap canister. Please help us customers by getting Chrysler/jeeps attention to recall this poor design that is affecting thousands of Jeep owners.
I noticed that when I fill the gas tank instead of it clicking and shutting off, gas always shoots back out and down the side of the vehicle. This happens on a weekly basis.
Fuel tank overflows on every fill-up. There is a recall Wranglers manufactured in the first half of 2007 but this one was made 12/2007 and is not covered by the previous recall but exhibits the same problem and has done so since purchase.
I own a 2007 Jeep wranlger that was manufactured in February of 2007. Every time I fill up the gas tank the fuel overflows and spills out of the nozzle, creating a hazardous puddle of flammable gasoline on the fender, the tire, the ground, and the person fueling it(me).
Greetings, my 2007 Jeep weangler has a fueling issue. When ever I fuel my Jeep it overflows and spits gas back at me when ever the tank gets close to full. This happens every time and at multiple gas stations.
