Engine oil not registered on dip stick when checked. Had to add 3 quarts of oil to get to register to bottom of dip stick. Oil has been changed every 3-6k miles since took ownership in 2007. Engine light does not come on when oil is low. Problem experienced a 2nd time 5/26/2012. Checked oil and no engine oil on dipstick. Oil was changed/filled on 1/19/2012 (have records from mechanic) and only approximately 5k miles drive in that time and again 3 quarts required to even get oil to register on dip stick and again engine oil light never came on in past 5 months since last oil change. Engine appears to be "burning through" excessive amount of oil with no indication of low oil in vehicle at any time.
My computer in the Jeep thinks the airbag went off took it in and dealer said air bag is dead. 1st gear pops out of gear almost died on take off, turning left .
Jeep Wrangler 2007: first gear (manual transmission) pops out during acceleration. All other gears (2nd to 6th) work normally.
My 2007 Jeep was in the shop for various repairs, however this one took the cake! I arrived home from work (6milesaway) when I noticed smoke coming out from under the hood. I found it was overheating, no indicator light to warn me, temperature gauge was at normal but the smell of anti-freeze was present. Towed it to the dealer and found the heater hose assembly, to be melted through from the "bad" design, of having it too close to the engine. Also it appeared to have two slices in the hoses , where the clamps were too close to the bend in the hoses. It cost me over $100. 00 to have it fixed.
Vehicle stalls out in traffic, despite battery being fully charged. With a restart, the battery symbol remains illuminated, and eventually the vehicle will stall out again. Occurred in heavy traffic creating traffic hazard. Remains a recurring problem that is only remedied by completely shutting off engine and waiting several minutes, then restarting it and checking to confirm that the battery symbol is no longer illuminated. Sometimes a battery jump-start is required. One dangerous alternative is to turn off the ignition while vehicle is rolling, restarting the vehicle, but obvious hazards of locked steering wheel, loss of control and possible crashes would result.
I purchase a new 2007 Jeep Wrangler, at 50,000 miles the engine started making a knocking sound. I then checked the oil and discovered that there was no oil. At this point I put oil in but after 5 days the engine stopped running. I since contact Jeep but haven't heard nothing back. I have never had any problem in the past with the oil running low.
1. No incidents leading up to failure of the vehicle being able to drive. 2. This is the 1st occurrence. A local mechanic verified a cylinder was dropped and advised to return to the Jeep/Chrysler dealership for warranty work. The vehicle is a Jeep Wrangler x unlimited 4-door 4x4. 3. 2 days later, Jeep says there is "engine failure" when they saw that the vehicle would not accelerate over 30 mph (2 days prior).
I have a 2007 Jeep Wrangler with a 6 speed manual transmission. I have had several instances that while starting from a stopped position such as at a stop sign the transmission suddenly pops out of first gear. It actually happens so much that I am having to start in second gear as to avoid the loud horrifying sound that it makes and, more importantly, avoid sitting in the middle of an intersection trying to get it back in gear so I don't get killed by oncoming vehicles. The problem with starting in second gear is #1 I shouldn't have to and #2 sometimes it wants to stall starting in that gear especially if you are starting on a hill. I have taken it to the dealer for repairs 2 times, but they tell me that they have never heard of this ever happening. I guess they never look on this website. I called Chrysler to complain, but I never heard back from them. This is a serious problem that NHTSA needs to investigate before someone gets killed if that hasn't happened already. How many people have to die before something gets fixed? the word safety is in the title. Be proactive not reactive for once and investigate this serious problem before anyone dies.
My wife and I have experienced at least five (5) incidents where the vehicle engine stalls/kills and either restarts itself or has be manually restarted via ignition key. The symptoms mirror exactly those described in NHTSA action number pe07027. (driving on highway when vehicle dash lights up as if freshly started, and sometimes needs to be manually restarted, and sometimes has restarted itself) the first incident was experienced by my wife in August of 2009, and the vehicle was subsequently inspected by Jeep dealer [xxx] motors of minocqua, WI, who after inspection and road test reported "no trouble found. " (per my invoice dated 8/24/09) at that point the vehicle was under warranty with 33,054 miles on the odometer, and I was charged $35. 25 for that service item. The most recent incident occurred October 14, 2013, and was witnessed by my son. In that case I was driving approximately 75 mph on I-70 approaching I-15 in utah when the engine stalled. The vehicle needed to be manually restarted via key. That was the 3rd incident I've experienced in the past 5 months.
The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that when driving at various speeds, the vehicle would jerk violently. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostics or repairs. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance. The failure mileage was 20,000 and the current mileage was 43,000. Updated 07/20/lj.
Starting off in 1st gear, my Jeep suddenly popped out of gear as I was entering roadway. That was the start of a problem that I still have today. Dealer has said it is normal and can't duplicate problem. I notified Chrysler of the problem, but they failed to respond to my investigation request.
At a complete stop when you stick your Jeep in first gear for a manual transmission and go to accelerate, the Jeep will make a loud pop/bang sound as the stick pops out of first gear in a violent fashion. I have come close to an accident twice where I was attempting to cross multiple lanes of traffic. It only happens in first gear and it only happens once in a while. Jeep won't fix it because they can't replicate it. My Jeep is now out of warrenty and they now acknowledge the problem, but want me to pay to have it fixed. This problem is dangerous and will end up killing someone if it hasn't already happened. Jeep needs to do a recall on this issue. Many people are posting this problem on the internet and Jeep is not being upfront about it.
I was driving with friends when I noticed that the vehicle was not functioning properly. Overheating, ac stopped working, and an odd speed fluctuation. I informed the people I was with that I was going to drive to the main road. Before I got there, about 50 feet, the whole vehicle was engulfed in flames. The flames went over the top of the Jeep. Luckily the flames died down briefly enough for me to jump out out. I lost everything in the Jeep and the Jeep itself. Upon contacting Jeep, they said it wasn't their fault rather it was my fault. Clearly something malfunctioned and I almost lost my life.
Driving down the highway normal traffic conditions. Vehicle shut off at 65mph on highway with loss of all electrical.
