general problems of the 2008 Jeep Wrangler - part 2

When I fuel up after it stops it will shoot out the filler neck.

When fueling my Jeep the and auto shut off at the pump stops a fair amount of fuel comes spilling out and runs down the side of my vehicle. This is a danger as there is exposed fuel on my vehicle and the ground. This is a waste of my money and a risk to the environment as the spill is on the concrete. When rain or washed this fuel will be introduced into the water system. Also the danger is obvious that there is raw fuel flowing down the side of my vehicle.

While refueling my Jeep the gas spit out of the filler nozzle after the pump had clicked off spilling gas down the side of my vehicle and all over the ground. This is actually the second time this has occurred in as many times as I have purchased gas for the Jeep.

Everytime when filling up at a gas station the nozzle clicks off and then gas spews out of the filler neck approx 2 cups.

Fuel gushes out of filler all over the side of the vehicle and all over the ground. Pump clicks off and 1/2 second later comes out of filler. Happens at every gas pump no matter brand. All do it. Problem with angle? pump doesnt fit properly into filler.

When fueling the vehicle, about a cupful of gas pours out the top after the pump clicks off. This happens at every station, on every fill up. This I believe presents a safety issue as gasoline is now on the outside of the vehicle and on the ground.

When the filling up the gas pump doesn't shut off when full. Gas will spray out about 5 feet all over the vehicle until you release the lever.

Fuel overflow when filling up my 2008 Jeep Wrangler unlimited 4dr. , when at or near full capacity at the gas pump. The gas overflows out onto the side of the Jeep and onto the fender and ground, nearly splashing onto me as I am standing at the fuel filler cap area at the Jeep. This has happened twice in the past two months, November and December 2010 while filling up my 2008 Jeep with gasoline to full level.

When fueling, the pump clicks off but fuel will splash up on me and all down the side of the vehicle. This is extremely dangerous and undesirable. Last thing I need is stray static electricity in the winter setting me on fire!.

When fueling, the automatic shut-off has started shutting off too late, resulting in a fuel spill every time = fire hazard plus paint damage. Multiple gas stations, multiple pumps, different temperatures. The incident date reflects the most recent fill-up, where I started searching for a solution. Searched on-line, and have read that this is a problem that is common with this make, model and model year. (unfortunately, I am just past the 3-year warranty period).

Gas overflows from filler cap while refueling. The last 2 times I have refueled, the pumps have failed to autostop and gasoline has overflowed out of the fillercap. This has happened at 2 separate gas stations which leads me to believe it is an issue related to the design of the Jeeps gas filler cap/tube.

My Jeep shoots gas out when it is full every time I fill it up. This problem has started as the Jeep reached about 20,000 miles. Dealership cannot find a problem.

Fuel overflow from filler tube and sprays onto person pumping fuel, vehicle and surrounding environment. This happen every time we fuel Jeep. We have had the Jeep since 2008 and problem started in December 2010. This Jeep looks brand new and garage kept and never been off road.

My 2008 Jeep Wrangler spills fuel every time I fill it up. Without warning just after the gas pump clicks off gas spills out onto the ground. The amount of gas spilled is about 4 oz. If you are close it spills on top the person pumping. A fire danger no doubt.

Fuel (1/2 gal) sprays out after refueling. Fuel sprays up to 3 feet. Gas goes all over person (got in my eyes!!!) pumping fuel, all over Jeep and ground. Just started doing this.

2008 Jeep fuel overflow when refueling. Fuel comes back out of the hole and goes everywhere. It is an extreme fire hazard and safety hazard.

The last 5 or 6 times I filled up on gas, the gas overflowed and spilled onto the side of the Wrangler and onto the ground. Have make an appointment with the dealer I bought it from to look at it and try to determine what the problem and solution is.

Gas spill on fill-up. This is the 3rd time now with gas running down side of vehicle and on to ground while filling up.

When filling up the vehicle with gasoline the gas will spill back out all over the vehicle, the ground and me.

When filling the vehicle with gasoline and setting the gas pump to auto shut-off, the vehicle will not activate the auto shut-off resulting in gasoline blowing out of the fuel opening. This problem has happened three times so far and resulted in gasoline spilling onto my pants, shoes, side of vehicle, bumper and ground. This problem is dangerous to persons, damage to the vehicle and is an envirnomental issue.

The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that when fuel was added to the vehicle, about one to two gallons flowed back out of the vehicle . The failure occurred a few seconds after the pump stopped. There were times when the fuel would run down the side of the vehicle and into the exhaust. The contact called the dealer who offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 39,000 and the current mileage was approximately 43,000.

I have a 2008 Jeep Wrangler unlimited. Sometimes when I use the automatic shutoff on the gas pump, it shuts off too late and ~0. 25 gal. Of gasoline will spray out of the fill port and spill down the side of the vehicle. This does not happen at every pump, but frequently enough that I can no longer use the auto filling feature. It does not matter whether I set the "auto hold tab" or manually depress the pump handle. This is an ongoing problem and not a single-time event.

When fueling my Jeep, the auto stop does not engage on the gas pump and it causes it to overflow. This has happened 3 times. Now I do not rely on the auto stop and judge it myself.

Gas shoots back out of the filler neck onto me, the Jeep, & the ground before the pump cuts off every time I fill it up. This just started a few months ago. I bought the Jeep from a friend who purchesed it new, & she said that it had just started doing it a few weeks before I got it from them. It never happened untill the Jeep got about 40,000 miles on it.
