2008 Jeep Wrangler unlimited, gas tank overflow occurs when filling my gas tank and the pump automatically clicks off. Gas spills all over vehicle, ground and myself. This happens every time I fill up unless I catch it before it is full.
While fueling my vehicle, it overflows gasoline as the tank approaches full and the nozzle shuts off.
Fuel over flow when filling up at a fueling station. This started happening at 48,xxx miles. It happens every time I fill the tank. It does not matter where I fill. Does someone have to burn to death before this is corrected??????.
Gas tank overflow and spray when filling up.
Every time I fill up my gas tank it overflows all over the side of the Jeep, ground, etc. I'm not talking a little drip. It gushes out. I have tried different gas stations. I have tried locking the lever in the slowest position thinking maybe I'm filling it too fast. I have tried positioning the nozzle further in and further out. Nothing seems to help.
Every time I fill up my 2008 Jeep Wrangler, fuel spills out of the filler neck. I took the Jeep to the dealer who told me that the vent valve in the fuel tank is sticking and that I needed to replace the entire tank to correct the problem.
Every time I fuel up my Jeep Wrangler, right after the auto cut off kicks in on the fuel nozzle, there is a surge of fuel that spills out of my gas tank all over the side of my Jeep and on the pavement. Every time no matter how slow or fast that I put fuel into it.
Just recently fuel backflows out of my gas tank after the pump shuts off. It happens even if I shut it off early and pay attention to how full the tank is.
Gas overflow problem when filling the tank. When the gas pump clicks off (when the tank is full), gas splashes out the fill tube.
Every time I fill my Jeep Wrangler my gas tank will overflow. The gas pump will stop, recognizing that the tank is full, but the tank will overflow with about 1-2 cups of gasoline. This is happened at every gas station I go to. I feel that this is a fire and environmental hazard. This problem has been occurring for the past 6 months.
Jeep Wrangler 2008, gas tank overflows upon every fill up, shoots gasoline onto the hands, arm and potentially the face. The occurs every time I fill up my Jeep, and is a potential fire hazard.
Gas tank overflows when I fill up on my 08 Wrangler.
For approximately the last 5000 miles, when filling my 2008 Jeep Wrangler unlimited with gas, about one second after the pump automatically shuts off to indicate the tank is full of fuel, approximately 8-12 ounces of fuel is forcefully ejected out of the fill neck. This occurs at every fill up regardless of gas station brand.
I just bought a used 2008 Wrangler unlimited rubicon with 37,000 miles on 1/21/2011. The dealer offered a free tank of gas with a with the purchase so we went down to the local filling station and he proceeded to fill the Jeep up . I was in the passenger seat at the time and inside the Jeep the smell of gas was very pronounced. As he walked away to pay the for the gas I got out of the Jeep and there was a 2ft puddle of gasoline behind the Jeep. He and I got back in to the Jeep and he complained that the the pump did not shut off and had spilled gasoline on his clothes and shrugged it off. This morning 1/28/2011 I stop by to fill up the Jeep and low and behold the pump clicked off when filling up the Jeep and the all of the sudden the gasoline started to run out of the fuel tank filler neck and once again a 2ft puddle of gasoline, shoes and clothes with gas on them. . . Not a good start to the morning. So came to work and started to search the internet and there is a lot of talk of many of this style of Jeep with the same problem. I am writing you to let you know that I think there is a safety concern with this vehicle and I am planning to take it back to the dealership to have them assess the problem but I think that you should look into this problem as well.
My 2008 Jeep Wrangler sahara has fuel overflow every time that I fill the tank. It spills all over the side of the car, on the ground, and on myself if I am in front of the nozzle. I took it in 2 years ago, and was told that everyting was fine. I have tried filling it differently, but it still spills a little when it is almost full. It makes my hands stink, and my garage. I am affraid it will corrode the paint on my car. I have heard of other Wranglers with the same problem, and my wife has a 2009 Wrangler that has the exact same problem.
When filling up the gasoline tank on my 2008 Jeep Wrangler x 2-dr, the gas pump does not automatically stop and the gas pours back out of the filler hole and runs down the side of the Jeep and onto the ground. This never happened for the first few month of owning the Jeep brand new from the dealer, over time it has gotten significantly worse.
When filling fuel tank, fuel spills/gushes on vehicle and person filling if standing next to fuel nozel when pump clicks off. This has happened multiple times at different gas stations. Spill/overflow ranges from about one quart to a half gallon of fuel and can cause vehicle/paint and environmental damage as well as injury to persons refueling vehicle and is also a fire hazard.
Jeep unlimited burps gas out when tank is full or almost full. Gas spillage occurs on Jeep and ground and anything else in the area.
When trying to fill fuel tank, the gas will overflow back out the opening. This happens no matter how far the nozzle is inserted. This can be much worse if the Jeep is pointed slightly downhill versus level or slight uphill. Gasoline will fly out all over the side of the Wrangler and can coat the person pumping fuel. It does not matter where I get the gas. This started at 35000 miles as has gotten worse.
My 2008 Jeep Wrangler jk 2 door sahara overflows while filling up with gas. It happened sporatically over the last 2. 5 years, but in the last 6 months it has happened every other fill-up. The last 5 fill-ups all overflowed spilling gas on the side of my vehicle and on the ground. I contacted my dealer and they ordered a new gas tank and a "tube". . . Waiting to see if that rectifies the problem. Several other Jeep owners, specifically on jk forums have noted the same issue and directed me to this website to file a concern.
I was in the process of filling gas tank of 2008 Jeep Wrangler. As tank filled to capacity, pump shut off, coud hear click in handle, but gas overflowed back out of tank onto Jeep, my shoes and pants leg.
Fuel tank overflows while filling up with gasoline. Occurs each time I fill the tank up.
Every time I pump gas into my '08 Jeep Wrangler unlimited x gas splashes out. I do not "top off" the tank; the gas splashes out after the first click of the gas pump.
When filling up the gas tank, auto-shut-off of the gas dispenser occurs too late. Gas pours out over the side of the vehicle and onto the ground. This has happened numerous times in the past 3 months (at every fill up). To fix the problem, I stop the fill up before auto-shut-off. Jeep / Chrysler says the gas tank must be replaced.
Fuel overflows from the fuel fill when filling up the fuel tank, every time I fill up.
2008 Jeep Wrangler x unlimited. . . . . . Gas spills or "burps" out of the fill almost everytime no matter what gas station or gas pump I use. Vehicle was purchased used, I talked to dealer and they told me I needed to replace the gas tank and wasn't a warranty issue. This continues to happen and gas is splashed out on vehicle, ground and on my person. This is dangerous there could be a fire.
Filling up at the gas station the gasoline overflows out of the tank, it happens almost every time I fill up my 2008 Jeep Wrangler.
When fueling vehicle, the tank appears to overflow and gas pours out when pump automatically shuts off. Approx 1 to 2 cups of fuel leaks out and onto the side of the vehicle and on the ground. This problem started after 30000 miles and happened occasionally in the beginning but now happens at every fill up.
Gas tank overflowed violently when the gas station automatic pump shut off.
Fuel over flow, when filling gas tank . . . All the time.
2008 Jeep Wrangler jk - gas overflow (this issue is the same as that reported in investigation pe10032) when filling up with fuel at the service station, gas overflows and sprays all over the side of the vehicle, the ground, and the person operating the pump. This is a very hazardous scenario and could result in a fire, explosion, injury, or death. This should be considered a recall on the vehicle in question. 1. No events have led up to the failure. 2. This occurs every time when fueling the vehicle. 3. The service department at the Jeep dealership says the only way to remedy the failure is to completely replace the entire gas tank assembly.
The last three times I have filled my tank with gas it has spit a quart or so of gasoline back out all over the vehicle, ground and me. This occurred at three different gas stations at three different times of the day and after different driving patterns. About 1 second after the gas pump automatically shuts off, gas spits out from the fuel tank. I took it to the dealership and they said they have never heard of this before and that they could not duplicate the problem. This is not only an inconvenience, it is a definite safety hazard!.
Starting at 35k miles on my 2008 Jeep Wrangler. . . Each fill up at the gas station, gas would spew out after the gas pump would click off. This is a very hazardous condition. The only way not to have the gas spill out is to not fill the tank up. A definite flaw in design as ive been reading its happening to lots of Jeep owners from 2007-2010.
Please see pe10032. Same issue. Fuel spills out of the filler port during the refueling process. This condition generally occurs when the fuel tank is filled to the full or nearly full level and the gas pump automatically shuts or clicks off. The spilled fuel can splash on me when fueling thevehicle, or on the side of the vehicle and the ground.
When fueling my 2008 Jeep Wrangler fast, the automatic shutoff will click off when the tank is full. Then the tank spits gasoline back out of the filler neck and down the side of the Jeep. A couple times I tried filling the tank at the slowest automatic rate and the valve didn't shut off when the tank was full. This started in early 2010, but it wasn't on every tank fill. Now, it happens every time I try to completely fill the tank. As of today I have under 29,000 miles on the Jeep.
