1 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/27/2023

(1) since October, I have had airbag failure in my Wrangler rubicon. The failure is the 2nd time for the same defective parts. Jeep has failed to repair/replace the parts. I've been waiting for two months. I cannot drive with no airbags. It's a death sentence and suicide to drive without airbags. There is a recall on this same defect issue, yet Jeep has continued to ignore this issue. (2) Jeep repaired a recall on my sidemirror defrosters a few years ago. After their repair, the defroster never worked again. (3) my heated seats failed to work, due to known defects. I've been without the deated seats for more than 2 years now! Jeep refuses to fix their defects.

2 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2023

The check-valve nipple on the gas tank of my 2011 Jeep Wrangler is broken. You can see it and smell the gas vapors leaking from this nipple. The vehicle has 86k miles. The Jeep failed our delaware state inspection because the check engine light came on. The Jeep smells like gas and in addition to harmful vapors, it is a serious safety issue and an explosion danger. Two service stations attempted to fix this without success. The error code is p0455 for an emissions leak. The most recent service station ordered several previously-owned Jeep gas tanks but they all had this same failure. They next ordered a new gas tank from Jeep which was out of stock for several months, indicating they can not keep up with the demand for these failing nipples. When the new gas tank finally came in, this same nipple was broken and this was a brand new gas tank. If you go on line, you will see this is a common problem and a safety issue. As a former engineer for Ford motor company, it is clear Jeep has a design flaw that will break and cause a safety risk to customers. The material is wrong for this application, and there is not enough strain relief where this nipple is located. It will inevitably break on all Jeeps at some point in time causing this safety risk. I told the service station that there is no reason to replace the gas tank because this nipple will simply fail again. They have other Jeeps they are working on with this same problem so had no problem canceling my service request. Please address this problem with Jeep before someone is injured or killed.

3 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/10/2023

Jeep Wranglers have a common problem with the fuel inlet. It clogs over time then will cause fuel to spill over or click off constantly while fueling the vehicle. This gets worse in cold months. I have spilled fuel hundreds of times over the years while fueling. Jeep forums and youtube talk about the widespread issue. No warranty or recall? perhaps after a gas station goes up in flames.

4 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/09/2020

When filling up with fuel, the gas will spit back and spill fuel on the side of Jeep and ground, even after the automatic shut off of the hose engages. Has happened several, maybe 5 dozen, times since I've owned it. It us well documented from thousands of owners of this style Jeep having the same problem.

6 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/12/2019

When filling with fuel, gas will spit back from the filler neck and all over the side of the Jeep right before the fuel nozzle clicks off. This has happened 3 times now in the 3 weeks since I bought this vehicle from a dealer. This creates a fire hazard in the event gas hit a hot spot or a spark caused by static, etc. . .

7 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/23/2019

On going issue of fuel back splash when fueling. After pump shuts off fuel pours back out on to the vehicle and ground. On going issue.

8 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2018

My check engine light is on. After taking it in for a diagnostic test, they said my pcm failed. My Jeep will not pass emissions the computer is not opening and closing my egr value.

9 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/28/2018

When I fill up at the pump gas overflows - tried different stations and setting on the lever.

Failure Date: 03/21/2018

My Jeep overflows gasoline everytime I fill up at the pump.

11 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/22/2018

Gas shooting back at me when I fill up. Horrendous and a safety issue. All over my child next to me. I want to sue Jeep.

12 Other Fuel System problem

Fuel spit back, airbag malfunction, tire pressure sensor, navigation system freezes.

13 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 07/22/2017

Fuel keep's spitting out when I fill-up with gas.

14 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 07/03/2017

Bought Jeep new. Has always needed oil between changes. Constant ticking sound started a few weeks ago while engine was running. Mechanic says engine needs to be replaced.

15 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/27/2017

I was driving at under 10 mph, on a texas state road when the plastic fuel line which is connected to the underside of the body with some type of adhesive failed. This dropped the fuel line directly on the catalytic converter, which melted the fuel line causing a fire that spread to the engine compartment. Apparently this is an issue on the 4 door model Wranglers as the 2 door Wranglers have a plate preventing this. This issue should be looked at on all 4 door models, ranging from 2008 through at least 2013. I have looked at other 4 door Jeeps and see that they have the same potential issue there is nothing that prevents the fuel line from coming into contact with the exhaust and potentially causing a fire.

16 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/11/2016

Nearly every time I refuel my jk, within one second of shutting off the fuel nozzle, approximately 3-8ounces of gas is forcefully expelled from the fuel inlet on the Jeep. Several hundred jk owners have reported similar problems with their jks on a number of internet fora additionally, there are several you tube videos documenting this problem. The problem spans all model years of the jk, both two and four door. The vehicle is stationary. I've reported the problem to Jeep and they claim it's not their responsibility since no recall has been issued but I find this to be a safety issue and a potential hazard.

17 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/03/2016

When you fill the vehicle, at time of automatic shut-off at pump, fuel spurts out of fill. This is not an isolated condition but continuous.

18 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/26/2016

Fuel overfill shut off not working resulting in large spray of fuel.

19 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/10/2015

My Jeep Wrangler 2011 spit back every time me or my wife refuel the vehicle getting gas over me and the floor . If we park the vehicle inside the garage the odor of gas is very strong we decide to keep the vehicle out side . I call the authorized dealer they tell me that are not any recalls regarding the fuel system,. The main concern of this situation are if that situation can initiate a fire or the fumes can be a hazard for the members of the family .

20 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/25/2015

Every time I fill up my vehicle, the fuel spits up out of the filler when the nozzle shuts off. There is consistently about 1/4 gallon of fuel on the side of my vehicle and on the ground, at every fill-up. I have been to several different gas stations, and this occurs at every station.

21 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/24/2015

Every time this vehicle is fueled up, the gas will come gushing out before the pump shuts off. I just bought this vehicle and was completely soaked with gas the first time I filled it up. I do not top it off and it is on 10% ethanol 89 octane gas. This is a serious issue. From what I read the NHTSA has looked into this and dropped it???? someone is going to get hurt from this.

22 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/04/2015

As I pump gasoline at different gasoline stations; the gas pump doesn't shut off and fuel spit-back onto the floor, hand and clothe. The smell of gasoline will be throughout the cab and in my hands and clothe. This is a health issue, because inhaling the fumes. Also if I don't have access to soap and water I must stay with gasoline in my hands and clothe.

23 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 12/30/2014

For the third fill-up in a row, when the pump shuts off an additional amount of gas spurts out of the fill up tube and down the rear left side of the Jeep. The Jeep is not obeying/monitoring the level of the fuel being pumped into it and when it rises to a normal cut off level the Jeep ignores it and allows more fuel to enter the vehicle. It's too late to shut it off each time. Each time it has done this it burps up about 1/2 a gallon to a gallon of gas. It's discoloring the plastic fender and causing a mess. I have never had a vehicle do this before. Every vehicle I have owned shuts off correctly, they have monitored the fuel intake level and signaled full before the overflow happens. Like how it should work.

24 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 12/18/2014

Gas pump won't auto shut off, tried several different gas stations.

25 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 12/16/2014

When fueling, with the gas pump locked, the filler tube burps/spits gas when the nozzle shuts off. This event happens when the gas pump is filling both slow and fast. Gas spits out onto the fender and all over the paint under the fill tube.

26 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/06/2014

Everytime I fuel up, fuel spits out all over the bumper, wheel hub, ground, and sometimes me. This happens even after the fact the pump shuts off. Not only is this expensive after a while, it's dangerous and has the potential for greater risk.

27 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2014

When filling the car with gas the car does not shut the pump down causing gasoline to shoot out of the fuel filler.

28 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/27/2014

Really annoying and very dangerous!! each time we fill up our 2011 Jeep Wrangler with fuel, just as the pumps automatic shut-off clicks, fuel will blow out and all over whoever is holding the pump handle. There is no indication that this is going to happen, except for the click from the pump handle a split second before you get doused. We checked with our Jeep dealer to see if there is a recall, and they said there was not, however it appears to be a problem with the "inlet check valve"; a mechanical item that appears to be defective, and a severe safety concern, but is somehow not under warrantee. We went on-line to research and found similar issues with other Chrysler vehicles, including 2007-2009 Jeep Wranglers. Really aggravating to find out there had been previous complaints about this issue, Chrysler knew what the issue was, but because there are not enough documented complaints for the 2011 year, it was not considered a real concern.

29 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/03/2014

Using my 2011 Jeep Wrangler (right hand drive), I deliver mail for the u. S. Postal service. Was delivering mail on my rural route. Date was 4th of Feb. 2014. The problem was a fire in the engine compartment. Causing damage to the wiring harness , many other wires, compartment plastics ,and gas line. The cause appears to be hot oil from the transmission dipping onto the engine and transmission . I only see that the fill tube on the transmission was the leak. I heard a fire ignite , open the car hood and seen the black smoke I then put out the fire. It is now the date-March 18 ,2014. I have no support from Chrysler corporation for repair of my problem. Their investigation stated an investigation into the incident found no manufacturing defect that caused the incident on 2-3-2014. I have now turned this over to my car insurance company . They say I should use the lemon law. This vehicle was repaired for a bad transmission in Nov. Of 2013. I do not see why I should of had more problems. The insurance company cost to repair is $5000. If the transmission is bad I was told by the dealer for the Jeep ,a new transmission would cost me personally $5000. Thank you.

30 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/30/2013

Every time you fill up the Jeep, gas spills onto the side of the Jeep and all over the ground. It seems a lot of Jeep owners have this same problem. Is it going to take someone being hurt or catching fire before this becomes a recall? seems there is at this point enough complaints about this year model for something to be done, before a lawsuit is filed!.

31 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/14/2013

Fuel spills/splashes out after pump nozzle shuts off automatically.

32 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/11/2013

For several months thevehicle has been spilling fuel when filling up, and today it would not accept the fuel.

33 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/16/2013

Fuel spills/splashes out after pump nozzle shuts off automatically. This has happened four times in the last month at two different filling stations (four different pumps). The fuel spalshed down the rear and side of the vehicle and once all over my shoes.

34 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2013

Fuel spits/sprays back when refueling.

35 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/17/2012

While refueling, the pump clicked off, and fuel spit back out onto the side of the car and my feet.
