Tipm should be recalled. Front wind shield wipers stopped working in a snow storm and now several of the electrical components are acting funny. Could be a serious safety issue - no lights on the dash working. Need to replace the tipm and was told this is very common problem and the part is on back order - total cost $1200 repair.
Jeep had random "jolt" while driving down the road at speed. Then a really hard jolt in February that stalled the engine while driving down the interstate at 60 mph. Would not start for 10 minutes, then did. I have taken to two different dealers who say that they can't replicate the problem. Not safe and they should have to figure out the problem and fix it.
This is a known problem and yet still not recalled the tipm just failed in the Jeep (second one in a month) this time it did it while driving. The Jeep went all ape shit. Alarms going off, trying to restart, the speedometer wouldnt work. I thought I was going to crash and die. Happened on the highway and continued when I got on to the city streets the dealer mech said it probably went bad again(in less than a month) I see many people with the same issues(other suvs from same company have recall on the part, just not the Wrangler).
My vehicle clock spring has gone out. My vehicle has 45000 miles and is a model year 2012. Other years, specifically 2008-2011 have been recalled for the very same thing. Also 2012 rhd models have been recalled for the very thing. My airbag light chimes and is illuminated when driving the vehicle, whenever I turn left, right or stop or accelerate.
The vehicle power abruptly drops while driving losing anywhere from 100 to 500 rpms. If the vehicle is stopped at a signal or traveling at lower speeds the power drop will shut down the vehicle. The problem is random and very unsafe.
The manufacturer of my vehicle, fca has issued a number of recalls eg s33 covering Jeepwranglers built 2007-2010 and recently s40 covering only right hand drive Jeeps built 2022-2016. These recalls are for clock spring failures resulting in compromised airbag circuits which will not deploy. The clock spring fails because dust gets in it. My Jeep is a 2012 Wrangler with about 10,000 miles on it has had this failure. It has been driven extensively without windows in the desert. I have discussed this problem with fca without success . What is my recourse???.
Tipm went out lost all control of the vehicle while traveling 55 mph! could have be a deadly situation! Jeep needs to have a recall ASAP. . . .
Windshield wipers stopped working on the highway in the middle of a thunderstorm, creating a hazardous situation. Took the vehicle into the shop, had the fuses checked, wiper motor replaced, windshield wiper switch tested, and nothing fixed the issue. The issue turns out to be a faulty tipm (totally integrated power module), and will cost over 1200 dollars to replace. This appears to be a widespread issue with Chrysler vehicles.
July 26, 2016, we took our 2012 Jeep Wrangler to the dealership after the abs and trac lights came on. The dealership showed a c102a code and a u140b code. They replaced and programmed the left rear wheel speed sensor, feeling that would solve our problem. On August 18, 2016, in stopped traffic, on a major state highway, the car lost power. We were able to restart the vehicle, but by the time we got it to the dealership, no codes were evident. On September 18, 2016. Driving 60 mph, on another state highway, the vehicle lost power. Fortunately it was a Sunday afternoon and traffic was light. We were able to coast to a side road and after about 4 attempts were able to get the vehicle restarted and drove about 2 blocks to a safe place. We had to contact a tow truck to carry the vehicle 10 miles to the dealership. The service technician was unable to get the vehicle to recreate the code, so he took it home for about 3 days, finally having the vehicle lose power and was able to get it coded. The diagnosis was a tipm shorting out. There was also a damaged clockspring. Both parts were replaced. Total of both invoices = $1,752. 25.
Wipers turns on automatically when in the off position, same with ac, stereo resets by it self. This happens no matter what the shift position is. No matter if the car is running or in parking mode.
The fuel pump relay on the tipm module failed (total integrated power module). This for the 2012 Jeep Wrangler unlimited isn't part of a recall and it isn't something covered under the power train warranty. The Jeep started turning off at low idle. This happened for backing out of a parking spot or at a stop light. It now happens when going down the road where the vehicle turns off at random. It isn't safe to drive until it is repaired. I am working on the repair now.
The sudden failure of turn signals, windshield wipers, headlights, taillights, brake lights and all controls on the two stalks and the steering wheel. I do not know when it happened and realized it when I noticed the lack of sound and blinking dash light on using the turn signal. No fuses were blown. I do not drive in the dark much. I am having it repaired today. The service writer said it was a computer. How can Jeep tie so many essential controls together? if it had occurred at night in the rain it could have been catastrophic. Perhaps it has already happened to someone.
Air bag light came on while driving down a local city street. Took it in to the dealership and it was diagnosed as a faulty clock spring rendering the air bag inoperable. My complaint is that NHTSA already has 2 recalls on this problem but for right hand drive Wranglers only. My Jeep has the same problem, concerning the same parts, for the same reasons the right hand drive air bag failures occurred. Jeep refuses to cover my Jeep under these recalls. Nhtsa campaign number: 13v176000 and NHTSA campaign number: 11v528000.
On 04/09/16, the wipers stop working while driving, and drivers side headlamp stays on continuously, and on high beam. Have to unhook battery terminal in order to get light to go out. Was told the tipm totally integrated power module has failed.
I was having electrical issues with my 2012 Jeep Wrangler. Specifically my windshield wipers were not working. It was snowing outside and they just wouldn't work. I had to manually get out of my car several times to clear the snow before I made it home. I got the motor replaced but it they still were not working. I took it to the dealer and they said that my entire tipm (totally integrated power module) "went bad". They told me that the could not order the part because its on back-order. I called Jeep and they said that the part was on back order with no estimated time of delivery. The tipm controls all of the electronic controls on my vehicle and I can not drive without it. It is a 2012 so I am surprised that this part is failing, let alone unavailable from the manufacturer. Furthermore the part alone is $850 and not covered under warranty. I did some research online and it looks like there was a class action lawsuit filed against Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge for this part being defective but it only covered certain makes/ years.
Air bag light and warning is going on and off when turning the steering wheel. Dealer says the clock spring needs to be replaced. There is a recall on right hand drive vehicles and numerous reports of all clock springs failing.
The tipm unit went out, causing lots of issues. The issues we¿re aware of are: the doors wouldn't lock, shifter was stuck in park, radio/cd/bluetooth wouldn¿t work, and the front headlights wouldn't turn off leading to a complete drain of the battery. Thankfully, the vehicle was parked and this didn't happen while we were driving it (it could have been very dangerous if it did). It cost us $1100. 00 to replace the tipm unit, which was a huge financial burden on us, but even worse was that we had to go without the Jeep (one of our main means of transportation) for almost two months because there's a waiting list for the replacement part. We checked with 3 different repair shops just to be sure, and all said the same thing: 1. ) that there's a waiting list at least 40 people long for this tipm unit, and 2. ) that they've been seeing Jeep Wranglers left & right for this same exact problem, and there¿s a waiting list because the part can't even be manufactured quickly enough to keep up with the demand. I know the tipm unit has been recalled for Jeep cherokees, but why not Jeep Wrangler when this is clearly a major issue for it as well??.
Faulty tipm. . Having trouble with vehicle not starting. The starting issue started in 10/2015 but wasn't a regular issue til 01/2016. Brought to dealership as is is a newer model with only 27000 miles on it. They replaced a sentry module. . Problem persisted. Now being told it's the tipm. Apparently this is a wide spread issue and was told to report it. . Still waiting to see if covered under extended warranty. .
While driving straight on my residential street my engine stalled and I lost all power to the vehicle. I had no power for lights, flashers, turn signals, interior lights, etc. Basically, the vehicle was totally dead. I was close enough to push the Jeep to my residence and checked the battery and I had full voltage. I had the vehicle towed to the dealership and it was diagnosed as a faulty tipm. Fortunately, I was not on the interstate doing interstate speeds at night. . .
Vehicle engine light came on after starting engine and driving 30 feet from initial parked location. Vehicle was stopped and explosion occurred under the hood while driver was still in vehicle. No previous indication there was any issue with vehicle. Upon driver emergency exit of vehicle, further explosions and large flames engulfed the vehicle resulting in a total loss of vehicle within minutes.
Tpim module has failed causing several strange issues with the car. Most notable for safety is the front windshield wiper pump will not work.
Basically going 80 mph on the highway my car decides to shut off, endangering the lives of myself and my passengers. Forcing us to stop at the side of the road and call a tow, keep in mind this all happened at 2 am in the middle of a dark empty highway. I take it to the dealer the next day and after running the diagnostics they tell me it is a faulty tipm. Now they are trying to charge me a $1,000 in repairs to replace a part that comes faulty from the factory.
Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Jeep Wrangler 4x4. The contact stated that his vehicle that the windshield wipers and turing signal will independently activate and all interior lighting will fall to illuminate. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage 31,000. VIN was not available. Az.
Since I have owned the vehicle the windshield wipers will come on every once in a while when I turn on the left blinker. I also have a problem with the tailgait. After about 3 years of ownership of the vehicle the tailgate hinge did not stop the tailgate from opening up a full 180 degrees causing the elbow joint to come completely out and my right tail light to be shattered. I was told by the dealer ship that this was common issue, but they would not return my calls/emails to get it fixed.
Several problems occurred electronically with my Wrangler in the past 2 months. 1. Headlights turned on when I came out of the store 2. Check engine light came on (4cyl. Misfire) but cleared itself after 100 miles 3. While sitting idle at a red light, the dash warning light lit up and flickered as well as chimed for a minute. 4. While cruising on the interstate about 70mph, the Jeep shut off for a few seconds and turned back on before I was almost rear ended by the vehicle behind me.
Tipm failure while driving in traffic vehicle stalled creating a very dangerous situation.
Just over a month ago I was going to work, and noticed that my turn signals were not working. I tried moving the turn signal up and down to no avail. I also noticed that my headlights would not come on. I pulled over and thought maybe a fuse went bad or something and found every single fuse to be fine. I then also noticed that the digital compass readout on the dash was not functioning, and I could not scroll through the menus with the main computer using the steering wheel controls. The hazard lights would work properly. . . And the lights would flash properly when I locked the doors with my key fob. . . Which told me that the circuit was still working. After about 25 minutes of fiddling everything suddenly started working again. The next day, while at work I went to lunch, and when I returned to work as I pulled into the parking spot, my windshield wipers randomly turned on without me turning them on. . . And I could not get them to turn off. . . Even with the engine off. I had to disconnect the battery to get them to go off. I took it to the local Jeep dealer and they found that it was the tipm I figured well. . . Now I do have a new unit and should be fine. That fantasy was destroyed yesterday when I went to go home from work, and suddenly my lights would not turn on. . . Then got stuck on and couldn't turn them off. . . And my windshield wipers would not turn on at all. . . And the turn signals would not function. . . All while going down the interstate. I live in virginia, and we are in the middle of a huge rain event, so the wipers and lights for sure needed to work in order for me to drive home. I had to disconnect the battery to get everything to turn off. After doing that. . . The headlights will not turn on. . . And the wipers remain the same and not working. Needless to say I had to get a ride home after I made it back to work. . . Having to leave it at work.

2012 Jeep Wrangler. Consumer writes in regards to parts not available to complete recall #14v-631 repairs. The dealer informed the consumer the parts were not available. However, Chrysler group recall assistance center stated the parts have been available for the last six months.
We have had multiple times where the engine will stall at idling or low rpm's. We have had the vehicle at the dealer 4 times now and of course they cannot diagnose the problem. Yesterday, they car would simply not start at all and it only has 28,000 miles.
Vehicle stalled (engine quite running) then jerked back on. At first it would only do this occasionally. Now it does it frequently in all gears (six speed manual).
Windshield wipers came on by themselves, headlights started flashing, the dash lights all came on and the vehicle stalled.

While driving, the engine, power steering and power brakes all went out. The first dealership said it was defective battery terminals, the next 2 agreed it was the tipm for the vehicle. When the start/run relay is moved at all, the vehicle shuts down. Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep have reported the part on backorder and have no estimate as to when it will be available.
Jeep. Consumer writes in regards to no repairs performed on vehicle for the heated power side view mirror wire harness recall. However, he was given a document to sign.
