Passenger side running light and side light stopped working. Changed the bulb and didn't fix the issue. Also found the back running light to work so know it is not a fuse. Appears to be fauly wiring or a bad ground. Has never been off road with this vehicle and only 42k miles.

2008 Jeep Wrangler has had several issues with tipm. Wipers will come on, horn will sound, washer fluid sprays, and transmission will not shift (when the vehicle is in motion and this happens) intermittently and will sometimes create a no crank/no start condition after the malfunction happens while the vehicle is in motion and has been shut off. Defect has been traced back to tipm and tipm was replaced with an aftermarket remanufactured tipm. Problem resolved and now has reappeared with additional symptoms, such as when vehicle is put in reverse wipers will go off and engine will rev to higher rpms than necessary to allow for acceleration. The tipm defect creates a significant safety hazard when it interferes with the shifting, acceleration of vehicle. Most recent issue was 11/09/2020; issue has been ongoing since 06/2019.
2016 Jeep Wrangler 4x4 experiencing electrical issues. The wipers stay on at all times, wiper switch does not work. Lights stay on at all times, switch does not work. Horn does not work. Blinkers do no work. High/low beam also inoperable. Dash lights extremely low, can barely see them and we are 35 yr old owners with good 20/25 vision. For lack of better words or mechanical terms, having a vehicle with this specific issue is like driving something possessed. Tipm on this vehicles are known to be faulty and fca has agreed to recall certain vehicles with similar issues. The vehicle was stationary when issued came to light.

Tl- the contact owns a 2019 Jeep Wrangler. While driving, the contact heard a loud popping noise and the entire console screen went black. The contact stopped and restarted the vehicle, but the entire console screen was still black. The contact was still able to drive the vehicle. The contact called cherry hill Dodge Chrysler Jeep ram (1708 w, NJ-70, cherry hill, NJ 08002, (856) 471-1058) and they asked when she could bring in the vehicle. In the interim, the power steering seized. As a result, the vehicle veered off the road and crashed into a telephone pole. The contact's son was medically checked out with an ice pack to the face but no ambulance services were needed. The front of the vehicle was damaged and it was towed with the rear wheels being locked making it difficult to tow to a tow yard. The manufacturer filed a case # and will send out an investigator to look at the vehicle that was at a tow yard were the it was currently sitting until 08/07/19 went the manufacturer inspects it. The manufacturer stated it would take two to four weeks until they have some findings on the issue and had not offered a loaner vehicle. A police was filed. The failure mileage was 848. Tf.

My reverse lights no longer come on when I have the vehicle in reverse. The backup camera is also suppose to engage when the vehicle is placed in reverse and the screen just stays on the radio screen and does not switch over to the backup camera. I took it to a repair shop and they could not figure out the issue either. We did a soft reset and also unhooked the battery for 15 minutes.
The head lights have stopped working. They flash when I start the Jeep and when I turn on the light switch. The problem started when I changed the battery. I can't drive it at night anymore. The web is full of this same complainant. I had the system scanned and get codes b162f & b162b. How can this problem exist? I'm talking about head lights. The running lights are not affected.

Driving in a wyoming snow storm, our led head & driving lights completely iced over -- after cleaning them a bit, they iced again. Saying this was a problem is a understatement! we have owned a jk 2014 & 2017 with regular lights & never had a problem. Not sure what we're going to do --.
The lights intermittently turn on and off either stationary or while driving. The blower motor, flashers, interior lights, horn, and the wipers come on and off intermittently either stationary or while driving. Either the battery needs to be disconnected or the fuse box under the hood needs to be jiggled before it would stop. Scheduled to go in the shop Friday for the repair. Oddly enough the dealership has never heard of this problem. This will cause a serious accident or worse if this issue is not resolved.
Takata recall- a few days ago my airbag light started turning on and off each time I started my car and now the light has remained on.

First the windshield wipers stopped working (changed motor and controls) then the horn stopped working, then the blinker and lights along with the instrument panel. Switched the panel and finally the tipm which fixes all issues. Vehicle continued to run but parked it until after reinstalling the tipm.

Takata recall - bought my vehicle, no light was ever on. About 4 months after purchasing vehicle till present - airbags light comes on with dings, stays on. Electrical is failing, can't seem to find the reason for the electrical malfunctions. Cruise and trac control kick on and off whenever they want to, that has been scary (moving all 4 times, 4 on interstate, 1 as I was turning a sharp turn after I had slowed). In the date slot below, I will put the 1st known time it happened to me, as there has been several.

While driving, the horn, lights and wipers randomly go off and spray fluid everywhere. Nothing can be done to stop it and even turning the car off doesn't. It can be very dangerous to me and other drivers since they do not know why my horn is going off for minutes at a time. I don't want to be behind someone at an intersection with my horn and wipers going off. Looking online I can see that this is a common problem with this model and should be fixed before someone gets hurt.
Signal safety: my complaint is the poor design and serious safety flaw of the front-end side markers on all 2007 to present day, Jeep jk/u Wrangler models. Although these vehicles have lighted front-end side markers, they do not have a turn indicator feature installed, creating a serious hazard to drivers when changing lanes, merging into traffic, or simply turning. Other vehicles and/or pedestrians that are along either side of the vehicle and are unable to visually see the rear or front of the vehicle, have no indication of the driver's intentions when performing any of the actions mentioned earlier. Although federal and most state laws require lighted front and rear warning/signal indicators, I am unsure what is required for side/abeam signals. This is the first modern vehicle I have owned that does not include this simple safety feature and it is one that should, similar to [euro] repeaters, be on all u. S. Driven automobiles and trucks to avoid collision, or possibly loss of human life.

Car at random will not start, lights will not work or radio will stop working . . . Check engine light stays on without any engine issues . . . To pump fuel it takes 20 minutes to fill it up you can't walk away or it will over flow . . . Jeep left me sit the other day and no garage can tell me whats wrong with it. . . Its not the starter . . .
Was driving in the city around 3pm and at random, all on its own, tmy Jeeps horn started blaring nonstop, wiper fluid was spraying everywhere uncontrollably, wipers were going off on their own but werent functioning properly and the lights were on without being turned on, stayed that way about 5 miles until we got home and disconnected the battery since that was the only way to turn everything off. Next day, around 10pm, driving on the highway I had my beights turned on, after about 30 seconds, all of my lights turned off and the wiper fluid started spraying, wipers were going off, horn started blaring again non stop, disconnected battery again. This is all coming from a defective tipm (totally integrated power module). This is my daily driver and is putting me out of work and money to repair this if Chrysler does not issue a recall. This is a huge safety issue that already got Chrysler a lawsuit and is probably going to lead to another if they dont fix this and recall these systems. I couldnt see anything while driving either time, especially at night. This could easily kill myself, any passengers or other drivers. I am also afraid that if the battery stays connected it will cause a fire under the hood since I can hear the cracking sound of electrical wires as the lights go crazy without being turned on.
The first of many times happened one morning as I was getting into vehicle. The horn, windshield wipers . The wipers sprayed all the fluid in the reservoir. I could not turn these off. After disconnecting the battery, the engine would not crank for some time and the horn no longer worked. The dealership diagnosed the problem as a faulty horn and replaced the clock spring, horn and a fuse. A few weeks later, while driving, the horn, wipers and lights all came on and I could not turn these off! even after removing the key, the engine and all the above would not shut off! once again, I had to disconnect the battery in order to shut these components off. This has happened numerous times since! the dealership is now saying the problem is with the tipm. But, in the meantime, is this vehicle safe to drive? today, I called Chrysler customer service and they told me that they would document this. Not good enough! in the meantime. . . . . . . I am somewhat fearful of driving my Jeep for the simple reason of the unknown. Not to mention the embarrassment that this brings when stopped at a busy intersection and my horn and wipers start blaring uncontrollably. This must be stopped and Chrysler should declare a recall! please help my Jeep is my only means of transportation and I'm very scared of driving it as I'm scared of the unknown that'd it stall or possibly go crazy on me again. This has happened more than roughly about 18 times in the span of 2 months.
Tipm is bad. Door don't open or lock at times. Sometimes when Jeep is turned off the Jeep radio will not turn off. Airbag light comes in at times.

Vehicle, in motion, on highways, and streets, shuts off. The lights go out, sometimes the radio turns off, the steering goes out, the gauges fall to zero. . . Then, the battery light comes on, and the engine begins operating as usual. It feels as though someone has turned off the key and then turned the key back on.
For the past 3 months I will be driving, in a pretty average way, not speeding or braking to hard, when all of the sudden my horn, alarm, wipers, windshield wiper fluid, and lights will go on and wont stop for up to 5 minutes, it has done this when the Jeep is stationary, in motion, or even without the key in the ignition.
Clock spring broken with no pertinent damage to vehicle or pertinent events, woke up one morning and the entire steeling column didn't work electrically.
Lights went out while driving at high speed at night making it very hard to handle car and pull off the road. Als olet me stranded in the dessert (pump would not pump gas).
This problem started in mid auust 2016 and is still going on . . . . Wipers going off n on by themselves, horn blaring, lights blinking on n off, signm=al lights not working at times, Jeep wont move forward at times, steering gets hard to manage, check engine light goes of and on all the time. . . . . This happens at anytime or anywhere. . . . Can go on for about 2-3 minutes. . . People start staring as if I am crazy blowing the horn at them and my lights flashing through out. This should definitely be a recalled issue based on the 2007 Jeep Wrangler having the same issue. . . For all I know the 2008 Jeeps were probably intalled parts from the line from the 2007 Jeep Wranglers which had problems with the ticm. . . . . . I am trying to get estimates right now but the tcim part alone costs $425 or mre plus labor and additional for programming. . . . . . This is ridiculous!!!!! sometimes it happens when stopped at the light with vehicle on and sometimes when driving. . Hard to manuever car when driving due to difficult steering.
Tl-the contact owns a 2009 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the headlamp housing glass was distorted. There were no warning lights illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 117,000. Ap.

Head lights and interior dome lights go off and on . Car is not running. Key is not in ignation. While driving clock goes dark and comes back on spontaneously. While parked overnight battery is drained completely. Difficulty starting car need to turn key to off position and lightly push on gear shift leavor, then vehicle will start. The all happens when vehicle is either running or parked in off position.
On 04/09/16, the wipers stop working while driving, and drivers side headlamp stays on continuously, and on high beam. Have to unhook battery terminal in order to get light to go out. Was told the tipm totally integrated power module has failed.
My airbag light keeps going on and off and chimes with ever time it is engaged on the freeway. I believe my airbag system is malfunctioning which is a safety concern.
Vehicle upon leaving a store, (just began to rain hard), the lights, wipers, cruise control, horn, and all functions on the steering wheel and left and right stalk stopped working. I assume the airbag is also not functional. No codes were registered in the vehicle for malfunction either. It has been a week and it is still not functioning. Possibly the clock spring which was recalled for 2007-2012, but 2013+ vehicles were excluded even though it is the same part used in the later model vehicles. Huge safety hazard!.
Tipm failure. Failure also affected starter and steering module. Initially vehicles lights and horn would go on without vehicle turned on. Doors lock and unlock by themselves. Ac and heater would shut down and restart. On these instances, dealership was advised, I was told that it was a code problem and codes were reset. Lately vehicle would downshift to first gear at both high and slow speeds causing a hazard in traffic. From a start position vehicle would not shift out of first gear. Vehicle engine would die out in traffic or turnover then die out as if fuel pump was failing. Instrumentation panel would flash and malfunction not allowing driver to see what gear indication was showing. Vehicle power steering would fail at various speeds causing dangerous situations. Last instance the vehicle was towed to dealership due to the unsafe conditions. Dealership and Chrysler advised. Remedy from each is "we are looking for parts, do not know when or can give you a repair date. Vehicle has been at dealer since being towed in. Chrysler refuses to give any assistance. Initial cost of repair quoted at $1100. 00+. Owner refused to pay this amount since it is a known problem with Chrysler products. Dealership will lower costs to $250. 00. Still unacceptable due to chryslers refusal to admit a problem that they are aware of and have had a previous recall for only after threat of lawsuit. But they have limited it to only specific models and years. Problem goes back to 2007. Vehicle in with this problem is a hazard and dangerous to drive at any speeds. No offer of vehicle assistance while waiting to see when vehicle can be put back into use.
Yesterday when driving my Jeep to the gas station all of the warning lights started turning on and the Jeeps battery light turned on. Knowing that it could be a problem with the alternator I headed home immediately. A block from my house in the middle of an intersection the battery finally died thankfully someone was able to push me out of the intersection because it was dark out and I didn't have any lights. I had the car checked and it is the alternator. I searched online and found that there is a recall for a pentastar 3. 6 l v6 alternators but I'm being told that my vehicle is not included in the recall. By specifically excluding my vehicle from the recall they have risked my safety and the safety of those around me.
The vehicle would not turn on I would have to continuously turn the ignition and finally it will turn on. The vehicle has recently began stalling and turning off when I would be sitting at a traffic light and vibrating very scarely. The check engine light came on so I took it to my machanic who stated it needed to have a tuneup because it was misfiring on five cylinders instead of six cylinders. The was done but five days later the problem returned and this time the taillight on the right side of the vehicle alone with the right side signal light were both out. I then took the vehicle to Jeep who charged me $140 just to tell me that it would cost me another $870 to replace the tipm. I don't understand how this could be happening on a vehicle with 72,000 miles if it was not defected to begin with. Barbara king.
While driving or when no one is in the vehicle. The wipers start going, windshield washers start and stop, horn starts blowing, lights start flashing off and on, all dash instruments go off and on and the horn blows intermittently. The door locks engage when the car is sitting with the motor off and no one in the car.
Vehicle when parked and / or while driving will start blaring the horn, spraying wiper fluid, wipers engage, lights go on and off / then off and the only way to make it stop is to battery or give the tipm an easy tap on the top. I have taken it to dealer and they want to start replacing electrical components starting with the cheap one at 350. 00. This started happening at around 40k miles and at the time there were not any modifications on the Jeep. . Read more...
