Brake light illuminates when car is off, I have to push up on brake pedal to turn it off. While driving it seems like the brake engages causing the car to lose power, I have to step off the gas, and reapply and sometimes it still feels like the brake is still engaged. This issue does happen at least 3 times daily. Pushing up on the brake pedal does get it to stop until I have to brake. While driving my traction control light will illuminate. I have replaced the brake light switch twice in 2021, thinking this would fix the issue and it does not. Has been an ongoing issue for the past couple months.

My brake peddle began to stick. I would have to tap on the brake peddle to get it to unstick. I took my car to the kia dealer near me. They told me it could be due the the brake stopper recall. They wanted to do a diagnostic test then. Which I could not afford at that time. The problem got worse. The brakes actually started engaging on their own. One time I was on the hwy and had to pull over and tap on my brakes to get them to unengage . I took my car back tp the dealer had them do the diagnostics. They told me my master cylinder needed to be replaced and brakes front and rear needed to be replaced. So I called kia corporate afyer reading the diagnostics report. I was hung up on twice! I then took my car to another place and had them do their own diagnostics. I had to come out of pocket to replace a repair the entire abs system on my car. It was due to a defect inside the master cylinder. The maater cylinder was comming apart from the inside. The peices were clogging my brake lines. Yet kia only dyood behind a warrenty not the product . I have and live on a limited income due to my physical disabilities. I bought this car in good faith that kia was a good and loyal consumer. I am still stuggling to pay for the repairs. My neighbors kept knocking o. My door one morning to tell me my lights on my car were on. I went out to check and it was in fact my brake lights. I had to tap on my brake peddle to get them to turn off. It ran my battery down. I had to call my maintenance manager for a jump start. Kia even had to nerve to charge me for a loaner car to drive while they conducted the diagnostics. I do have all reports and paper work and receipts. I was so proud of my new car. Now I am financially strapped due to this major defect that was in my 2013 master cylinder. This would happen on city streets, the hwy and parked, turned off with no one in the car.

All of the sudden my traction control is showing to be off and my brake lights are illuminating even when my car is off. It doesn't seem to be driving any differently or braking any differently. However, my 2 year old was able to start the car and shift it into reverse without having to use the brake pedal when he got in the car while I was trying to figure out how to turn the lights off because it is killing my battery. Luckily no one was injured. I see that there is recall 17v773000 on 2012 models which seems to explain my issue exactly. Why is my 2010 not included?.

My brake lights would not go off last week and I found that the stopper was defective and that the only way to turn them off was by removing the brake switch behind the brake pedal. This item has been recalled (17v773000), but my VIN is not included in the recall. How do I get my VIN included in the recall?.
Rear break lights don't work when lights are off, but the third brake light does. When lights are on the rear break lights are on, but don't get brighter when the brake is used. Only the third brake light works lights on or off.
The brake lights stay on even after the vehicle is shut off. Forte brake pedal stoppers and switches could be faulty. The material for the stopper can fall apart over time and allow the brake light switch plunger to remain extended when the brake pedal is released.
Brake light stay on all the time even when the car is shut off.
My brake lights stay on at all times while car is turned on.

I got into an auto accident a year ago and the airbags did not deploy but the vehicle was considered a total loss. I discovered that my vehicle was still drivable because I can't afford another one. Well just the other day my inside dash lights and brake lights , well basically all lights started flashing in and out. Made the car break down in the middle of the road. I bought a new battery. New fuel pump, checked starter and alternator. All of those are functioning properly. But my car is still broke down on the side of the road.
When driving the brake lights continuously illuminate. The bulbs in the tail light burn out frequently on average of 60-90 days. .
Tl-the contact owns a 2012 kia Forte. The contact stated that while stationary and driving various speeds, the traction control light illuminated. In addition, the brake lights did not illuminate when prompted. The contact stated that upon depressing the brake pedal to shift of the park position, the shift lock release had to be engaged in order to shift out of the park position. A dealer was not made aware of the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 90,000. Ad.
During month of December 2017 discovered all brake lights (total of 3 bulbs) burned out. The center top brake light assembly discovered melted (self replaced with new ones). Three weeks ago, right brake light assembly and bulb both burned out and melted. I replaced the light bulb and used electrician tape to hold socket and bulb in place.
The brake light on the car goes out often since I bought it, more commonly the right side. I have repeatedly checked and replaced fuses and bulbs. Sometimes the light won't last a month before someone tells me my brake light is not working. This is a hazard. I have not found any issues with the wires or fuses, but through research found earlier models of the kia Forte had a recall for the same issue. The problem being the brake light switch by the pedal. Kia needs to find a fix for this and do a proper recall.
The contact owns a 2010 kia Forte. The contact was pulled over by the police because the passenger side brake bulb failed, was not properly secured within the holster, and had fallen into the trunk. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the stop lamp switch had failed and needed to be replaced. The independent mechanic made the contact aware that the vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 13v114000 (service brakes, exterior lighting). The vehicle was repaired, but the brake light failed and the vehicle would not maneuver from the park position. A tow company was called, but the vehicle was not towed. The tow driver showed the contact a trick to get the vehicle to move out of the park position. The contact then notified universal kia hickory hollow (5406 target dr, antioch, TN, 37013) and universal kia rivergate (1536 gallatin pike n, madison, TN, 37115) of the failures. The dealers confirmed the recall and stated that the vehicle had already been serviced under the recall, but the remedy failed to repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was contacted and did not assist. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
When car is really cold, the brakes when applied get stuck down. I have to physically disengage the brakes. . Even when I park my car at times the brake pedal will be down and only way I noticed is the brake lights in the back or on. . Only time this happens is when its cold outside. . Dealer took 2 times and decided not to take it any more because they advise they can't find the problem. Seems they had other years of recall and seems from this site that it is happening with this model too. . This happens mostly in the morning or late evening when temperature below 40 degrees.
Brake lights stop working took it to the dealership they said they would fix the brake switch but I'm responsible for the bulbs and the relay and also have to wait until Tuesday for the relay. What's the point of paying for a warranty.

I was pulled over by a leo and was informed that my brake lights were not working. I took it to the dealership and had them look at it. They told me there was a recall for that exact problem on 2009-2010 models but there was not one yet on 2012 models. My tail lights work, but my brake lights do not illuminate when I press on the brake.
Car would not come out of park. I had no idea at the time what the issue could be because in the kia owners manual it does not state that once the brake lights go out, you can not take it out of park. Car would not go into gear until I used the shift lock release to take it out of gear. Drove it home and found a blown fuze (brake light fuse) . . Replaced it and drove fine (while it was doing this the electrical suspension light came on also). Fast forward 7 days, was driving out of town and the suspension light came on while driving down the expressway and I knew then the issue was back. Sure enough. Had to take it to a kia dealership out of town . . They replaced my fuze, brake light bulb and brake light assembly switch. Fast forward a week and a half and the problem is back . . . Kia is telling me over $1000 and I'm not going to be guaranteed that this will fix the problem. I'm a single mother and purchased this car because I felt it would be a safe car for me and my son and now I'm stuck with a car that is not safe . . . No brake lights are seriously not safe at all!!!.
Kia Forte ex 2014 esc light came on and my brake lights wont light up when steping on the brake. The brake pedal feels stiff when braking to a stop. Checked all pugs and bulbs and they all are good, called dealer and was told it might be the brake light switch and will take me in on Monday.
The exterior lights on this vehicle need replacing every few weeks along with the cruise control not disengaging when brakes are applied and gear shift does not engage. The brake lights will light when the interior light control is in the off position but when the car is on and lights have been turned on, the brake lights do not light. When it first began happening the car was taken to earnhardt kia in phoenix and they said they could find nothing wrong with the lighting system or electrical system. In the course of three years there have been 12-15 lightbulbs replaced including a headlamp.
Esc light stays on, brake lights don't work, and cruise control works sporadically, all fuses are working, a quick google search reflects that the a faulty brake light switch might be the cause, which in fact it was.
Upon parking my vehicle, I could not shift out of drive or neutral, resulting in an inability to put my car in park and remove my keys. As I was unable to do this, I could not leave my vehicle and feared it could roll from its parking spot. At this time, the rear brake lights were not coming on when I would press the brakes. Also, my esc control lights came on indicating this function was no longer working. When talking with the dealership, I learned there is an identical problem with other models that has resulted in a recall. However, my Forte was not included in this recall. After many attempts to restart my vehicle over fifteen minutes, I was finally able to put the car in park. However, my esc light remained on after this.
While driving from my kids pediatrician office. I noticed the traction control stayed off and would not turn on. That affected my brake lights. I noticed that same part is put as a recall for the sorento and soul but not for the Forte. If it is the same recall the Forte should be included. For the vehicle being only two years old it should be covered as a recall and due to the safety impact that it may cause rear end collision due to the driver not noticing that the tcs affects the brake lights.
