Carrier/rack Problems of Kia Motor Optima

Been having issues with the driver side window for some time. When pushing the window up, it keeps going back down. After mentioning it to the kia dealer they said there was nothing wrong. Well, just yesterday the entire window made a cracking sound while trying to roll it up while driving. Then the entire window just fell all the way down and now it won't go up at all while driving on the freeway. Not sure if it came off the tracks or if it has something to do with the motor. After doing some research I have noticed that a lot of kia owners have or had that same issue. This is definitely some kind of defect/problem if so many have the same issue and it should be recalled since it seems like a problem with the manufacturer.

Driving home on the highway on a Sunday evening on may 19, 2019 in oakland, California, my sunroof (specifically, the middle panel of the three glass roof panels on the kia Optima sx 2013) suddenly and without any warning cracked, letting off an ear-piercing pop. I drove to a safe place with my hazard lights on, hearing pieces of glass fall off of my car into the lane behind me. The sunroof was closed at the time of the incident, and fortunately, the fabric sun shade underneath was closed, so I was spared from the shower of glass and injury other car owners have experienced during this explosion of glass. There were no other vehicles around me at the time of the incident and no debris, and I was driving straight on a smoothly paved road. When I inspected the sunroof, there was a huge hole in the center of the glass panel and the broken glass around the hole was pointing upward into the sky. The entire glass panel was shattered but still in place. There was no debris or a rock inside the sun shade underneath that could explain the hole. It was altogether eerie and very frightening and traumatizing, and I was grateful I wasn't killed by any potential accident that could have been caused by this unsafe sunroof explosion. I am in process of getting it repaired at the dealership where I bought the car used, and I have made a claim with both my car insurance company (geico, who has not been very helpful in acknowledging this as a manufacturing defect), and with kia consumer affairs. Kia also has not acknowledged that this is a defect, and none of the kia dealership service representatives or managers I've spoken with (six of them) have heard of this before.

I was driving on the freeway in the state of utah. I was going 65 mph on the freeway when the car started shaking, followed by a stall on the engine that forced me to slow down and park on the side of the freeway. I have no idea what happened but I heard cracking noise coming from the engine. Now the car won't turn on.

In August 2018 I noticed that the camera on the front grille of my 2016 kia Optima was producing a blurry image. It did not do this the night prior when I used the camera to park in my garage (where I did not hit or bump anything, I was not even near the wall at the front of the garage). The lens had a crack. Some context: this happened before in 2017 and the kia dealership in mcdonough, GA repaired it as a warrant item. I took the car to the dealership, where the service representative named jose camacho said they they would cover it as a warrant time and that I would not have to pay for it. They just needed to order the part and would call me when it arrived. I never received a call, so when I called the dealership in September 2018 I was told that the claim was denied as a normal wear and tear problem and that they should never have replaced it the first time. I was told that if I wanted to disputed it, I would need to call kia consumer affairs. Kia consumer affairs told me that they would check with the dealership and after a few weeks, I called them back and they said the dealership wanted my to come back. I called the dealership and they asked for me to bring the car in so they could take pictures. While I was there I ask what the odds where that the camera lens would crack twice with no visible damage to the camera unit, the grille or the bumper, the service manager justin, told me it wasn't likely. I notified them that there was a 3 page forum on the internet where other kia Optima owners have reported the same problem, in fact, if you do a simple google search for kia Optima cracked lens, it is the first search result. I asked why this is not a recall item, and they shrugged there shoulders and said they didn't know why. They then said they would submit the pictures and I would get a call back from kia consumer affairs. It was denied, no reason.

Coming off an off ramp on greenbriar south in chesapeak virginia, I heard a cracking noise from under the car. There was nothing in the road nor was there any pot holes. The vehicle then started pulling to the right and when I started pulling the steering wheel to the left I continued to drift right. I then landed into a guard rail at approximately 15 to 20 miles per hour. There was a witness behind me that can attest to this incident. The tie rod end had broken clean in half as if it was cut with a pair of siccors which caused me to lose all steering capability then ultimately caused me to collide with the guard rail. Basically destroying my front end and the front right side of the vehicle and the drivers air bag was deployed. I was making a slight right hand curved turn on an off ramp. Off highway 64.

Took my car in for an oil change and they stated that the oil pan drain plug is cracked.

Shortly after getting onto the freeway on my way to work in the morning I heard a loud pop followed by what sounded like light rain hitting the car and the roar of the freeway. We quickly pulled the car to the side of the freeway and upon looking at the roof of the car there was a huge hole in the center of the car's sun roof with sharp shards of glass tilted towards the sky and large cracks extending from one side of the sunroof frame to the other. Conditions were raining, 7:30am and about 50 degrees f outside. The canvas screen was closed to catch the falling glass so no glass fell into the passenger compartment of the car. There were no injuries, and no debris or other cars in the area.

I was on I-40 going about 75 mpg. Temp was about 75 and the driver side window cracked a little. The shade was not down on the sunroof, but the sunroof was not lifted. I was about to pass a vehicle to my right. All of a sudden there was a loud bang in the back of my head. I was so thrown off, I almost let go of the wheel. It echoed in my head. I panicked and pulled over on the interstate and flagged down a state trooper. The trooper checked. . . My car was not hot. Nothing flew in my car. Nothing flew out of my car. There was no other damage besides the hole in the sunroof. But you could tell that the explosion came from inside the car. The trooper was speechless. I was terrified to drive the car anymore because I didn't know what caused it. We concluded that it had to be some kind of air pressure that caused it. Again, I'm not an expert but I do know that I didn't do anything to cause this. I keep my car in great condition. After seeing the other reports, I'm glad I heard about this site. Please mandate a recall or rebate for people who have had this issue. The is extremely dangerous. My hearing in my right ear was "fuzzy" for a few hours, I had a massive headache, my ear is sore, the whole right side of my body hurts. Thank god I didn't have any cuts or bruises, but it felt like it (weird). I could have caused a horrible accident if I took both hands off of the wheel. And it's sad that kia has not addressed this with so many complains. We shouldn't have to pay a deductible for a manufacture flaw.
