Radio/tape Cd Player Problems of Kia Motor Optima

Car stops, losing all power and function without warning while you're driving it. At the time this happened, the car was in motion, but moving slowly to a stop on a city street. After several attempts to restart, it did and I brought it to kia dealer. I bought the used car 60 days ago. It had been in an accident but seemed fine. From a dealer. I am terrified to drive it any more, because this could cause a fatal collision. Took it to dealer and they cannot find anything wrong. Other issues that happened just before this happened: just 5-10 minutes before this happened, I'd inserted a phone charger into the usb port and the radio went out, but a minute or so later, started working again. In the prior two week period, the car did not respond to sta rting, no sound, no anything. Then on the repeat attempt to start it, it did. I cannot drive this car now, particularly since I typically have passengers whose lives are also risk.

Vehicle was in motion and stalled during a drive and was unable to start. Interior lights and dashboard turned on along with radio and windows but battery was damaged. After getting the vehicle inspected from an auto shop, it was evident that there was engine failure. This occurred while turning into a parking lot from a main street.

On may 21, 2020, I'd taken my 2013 kia Optima ex for a simple oil change at hawkinson kia, matteson, IL. The service dept. Tech conducted add'l inspections, as they usually perform, made recommendations, including serpentine belt replacement. I'd agreed to belt replacement. My camera display was working prior to this visit. No report of any camera problem was indicated on the inspection or recommendation reports or receipt. Afterwards, my camera display ceased operation, only displaying a black background with guidelines. Several times afterwards, I'd contacted the service dept. To complain of the issue. They'd suggested bringing vehicle back for diagnostic, which I complied and paid its fee on June 8, 2020. Dealership service dept. Then said it wasn't an issue they'd created/wasn't caused by installation of belt and that it recommended replacement of head unit [radio system] and camera at a cost of approx. $511. I'd complained several times to kia's corporate customer service but did not receive any consideration nor resolution: only to be told my vehicle's warranty has expired. The dealership service dept. Had several opportunities to visually notice any camera defect as it's tech(s) operated my vehicle by driving in and out of its service garage as the camera display is actived when vehicle is in reverse. Since issue with the rear-view camera was a 'known issue,' at least according to kia's technical service bulletin [grp. Ele, no. 077] issued in 2014, the camera, etc. , should have been recalled and replaced at kia's expense! I'd discovered that a host of other kia owners had experienced and complained of similar rear-view camera issues when I'd conducted a web search about this defect. The rear-view camera is a safety feature! and should always work properly!.

Antenna fin blew off while driving. . And broke my back window too. I took to dealer wont cover under warranty yet I see all complaints that this needs to be a recall . Dealer wants 450. 00 to replace has to be full unit although radio works fine I need this replaced at kia costs or I will open a class action case for defect. It has happened to much and 2016 got the recall it's the same antenna shark fin cap.

The stereo system makes beep sounds when you push the buttons but the music sounds, radio, and phone won't come through speakers at all. I do know that the kia soul had this same problem and was recalled for it our car has 95,000 miles on it so I don't know why this has happened.

Seat beat sounds off while driving and seat belt is fasten. It dings as if the seat belt is not on. Secondly, radio plays but no lights no camera works from time to.

The ignition switch won't turn, car seems to be on even though lets aren't in ignitiinnswitch, radio comes on but car let stick in on position and won't turn. . Doors won't lock unless key is used.

The radio is no longer functioning and I have seen other videos where people are having the same problem with my same type of vehicle.

Engine ( and electrical systems ) shut down (3 times) completely and unexpectedly , while car was in motion at highway speeds( twice) and once while at tolls. Also noticed that when you turn key occasionally , its like battery is dead. I believe that first and second times I was flashing hi beams at highway speeds. After these events happen , the mileage guage resets, and clock is wrong. Also notice that the radio flickers,, and or turns off on its own. Also, not able to reset trip mileage, and noticed that shifter button intermittently will not depress.

My satellite radio has been cutting in and out ever since I bought the car. Dealer says antennae was replaced. Problem still exists. I have brought car back several times and they were not able to duplicate.

My 2013 kia Optima's brake and gas pedal will vibrate/grind while driving in wet conditions. It started the day I bought it. While I was signing papers, it started to rain. During the drive home (immediately) I noticed vibrations through the pedal. I asked about it and they stated it was normal. Since it did it immediately, now I see similar complaints and no longer think I am crazy. I have had this vehicle since October 2013 and the issue persists also my backup camera sometimes does not engage. A few times the radio system gets stuck on stupid (wont turn on), but this only happens when the back up camera has issues. And this week 7/2015 my jukebox stopped working properly. Luckly I found the the reset switch near the volume control. And it works again :).

The contact owns a 2010 kia Optima. The contact stated that when inserting a cd into the cd player it became extremely hot to the touch and he was afraid it could start a fire. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer who informed him that it was normal. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 54. After buying the vehicle from a auto dealer between July 2 and July 5 . . . This vehicle began to have many problems like the audio receiver switch from radio to cd on its own,doors locks on its own,rpm runs to 4000 going 45mph after a hard jerk assuming that I was hit by a other car the air bag light came on after that 2 hard jerks while driving,,(they didn't even deployed) can not pump gas due to fuel keeps over flowing when its barely empty . . . . Its been a living ?!@#$% and I'm still paying for the car. . . . Is it legal for a dealership to sell a vehicle like this.

The contact owns a 2007 kia Optima. While driving 40 mph, the passenger side air bag light remained illuminated. The dealer reprogrammed the switches, but the failure recurred. The light dims when the vehicle is shut off and restarted. The vehicle will be taken back to the dealer for inspection. He also stated that the radio antenna was malfunctioning and the radio stations have a lot of static. The manufacturer stated that the antenna was not the cause of failure. Radio turns off and stays off during daylight hours of normal driving on regular paved road ways. The unit is still powered on itself but no audible sound not even static can be heard from the speakers from the cd, cassette player or radio. It was taken to an authorized dealer and he stated that he didn't want to keep wasting their time (radio is no longer covered by warranty) and that I should purchase a new radio because there was something obviously wrong with the output on the factory unit. He also stated that it would cost over $1000 to purchase a new factory unit.

While driving my 2002 kia Optima, my stereo,headlights,dashlights would cut out while driving. I took it in to a kia dealership, the instructed me to get a new battery. I did, and that did not fix the problem. On Saturday, January 1rst,2005 I was driving down the freeway doing about 60 mph, my car lost all power and stalled in the middle of the freeway. I could not warn other drivers behind me because my hazard lights would not turn on, I had no electrical power to my car. It almost caused people behind me to slam into me. Since the dealership was closed on Sunday, I took the risk of going to the store, and once again I lost all power to my car hitting a near by garbage can and denting the front left side of my car. I took it into kia of tacoma, they told me to get a tune up. Not liking that answer, I had it towed to kia of puyallup. . They are unable to find the problem and want me to come pick the car up and drive it around again. After researching this on the internet, I found there are many other people that this is happening too, and there has not yet been a recal on this car. This car is a danger to my life, and others around me. Something needs to be done about this right away before it costs somebody their life.
