Took vehicle to dealership for recall, wiring harness. When done, the horn, left rear door lock switch and the radiator fans stopped working. All these worked prior to the recall work. And these items do work when bypassing with a battery, hooking them directly to power.

First, the air bag light for driver stays on, then cruise control quit working, now the horn quit working. I took it to a garage and was told it was a faulty clock spring. I looked up and see that other models of kia's have been recalled for faulty clock springs; but not the Sedona. I believe this model should also be recalled as it is a safety hazard not to have a working air bag and horn. I was told by two different garages that it will cost $350 to replace the clock spring. I cannot afford to fix this so I will drive with no horn or air bag. If I should be injured or die in a crash due to either of these items not working I have instructed my wife and children to sue kia for not recalling all the clock springs, when its obvious that more models have problems than what has been recalled.
The contact owns a 2003 kia Sedona. The contact stated that while parked, the vehicle caught on fire from under the driver's side dashboard area. Prior to the fire, the horn activated independently. The vehicle was destroyed and was not inspected for the cause of the fire. The failure and the current mileages were 115,000.

Problems: air bag light on again. Has been repaired by dealer several times. Ac does not blow cold continually and has been repaired several times. New compressor, additional freon, etc. Horn malfunctioning again. Transmission problem - the vehicle "bangs or slams" when you come down a hill to a stop. When slowing down to a stop light it actually has a surge or acceleration. This vehicle only has 64000 on it and the brakes have been serviced several times (front and rear). Now when I am driving I get a terrible grinding feeling - and at a higher speed on the highway when you go to slow down faster it vibrates terribly. Also the braking is terrible at higher speeds. Also had problems with the actuator repair/replaced several times, horn not sounding properly, air bag light (repaired several times), cruise control issues (won't maintain speed - accelerates or decelerates), battery or electrical issues (told to replace battery which I did & paid for), headlight issues (have replaced lights several times), vibration on highway (new tires and tires have been rebalanced. Alignment done). After reviewing multiple websites on kia reviews, these above items are very common experiences for kia Sedona owners. I wanted to make you aware of these items since I feel that if consumers do not notify the authorities nothing will be corrected or known. I have really noticed in the last few months, almost immediately after passing the warranty mark, the vehicle has taken a turn for the worse and problems seem to be escalating.
2006 kia Sedona. Horn failed to operate. Clockspring and hi horn found to be defective and replaced by dealer.
My kia Sedona is in the zieser service center again. I had to take it in for the horn and other concerns. The horn does not always work and this is a safety issue. The dealer said they can not duplicate, but when my husband and I drive the vehicle it does not work on a consistent basis. They have had to replace parts on this horn already on several occasions. And I have had to bring it back on several occasions since they can not duplicate at first. On my last visit the service dept turned the rotors for the brakes. I told them that it is now squealing since they did this and I wanted to know why. When they called to tell me my car was ready, they said I owed $25 to look at the brakes. I ask why and dave in service said that their tech took over 2 hours to look for problems and no one was going to pay them (meaning kia), so I needed to pay. I told them I wanted to know why I did not have a squeak before and then after they did some warranty work on the van I did have a squeak. I also stated that I have a safety concern about the car feeling like it is being pushed when you are slowing down and you get to 30-35 mph. He said this is normal. Lastly, the cruise control does not decelerate when going down hills (even a slight grade). It does not do this on a consistent basis. They told me this is normal, but when I drive it accelerates and if I have it set at say 40 mph I have to apply to brakes because I have had it accelerate past 60 mph. Again, I am very concerned about my vehicle and the fact that there are safety issues that I feel need to be corrected. Even though they state that the horn is working correctly, when I was driving this weekend, I was cut off by a car and when I went to honk the horn it did not work. And when I tested on several occasions, it did not work. My husband also was cut off (there is in intersection that is notorious for this by our home) and he could not get it to work.
- the contact stated that while driving his 2005 kia Sedona with a failure mileage of 23000, at 40 mph another vehicle pulled in front of him and his horn failed. He took the vehicle to the dealer and they replaced the clock spring . After the repair the horn worked intermittently. Updated 02/22/07.
The contact owns a 2003 kia Sedona. The vehicle was trying to start by itself . The windshield wipers were on and there was smoke in the vehicle and flames on the driver's side emergency brake. The contact's husband put the flames out before the fire department responded. The fire was first noticed from the drivers side where the emergency brake was located. The vehicle was not operating unusually before. The vehicle had been parked for about two hours before the fire was noticed. The dealership told her husband at this point they believed this was started from the low jack installation which was installed by the dealership. The police reported to the scene, and after arson was ruled out they handed the situation over to the fire department. The contact going there tonight to pick up the fire department's report. The horn did not work.
