On August 12, 2008 I picked my to young children up 8 and 4 from the babysitters. Both the driver and passenger side sliding doors would not close, it kept opening and shutting on its own. They finally latched after 5 minutes of trying. When I left and the first right I came to, the drivers side sliding door flew open while I was driving!!!! I instantly pulled over and stopped traffic for this. It took me to turn the power button off and shut it manually, however that still didn't work. The door continued to come open until I got it home. I called kia the next morning my car was towed to kia, later that day I picked my car up with them replacing the passenger side sliding door, the other part was on back order. Then on September 3, I took my car in to have the driver side sliding door replaced along with the upkeep of misc. Items to my car. Here it is on September 8th and the driver side sliding door would not close again. I video recorded and called kia again. My car can not bee seen until wed. It is Monday. I believe kia needs to review there policy and procedures for recalls on safety issues. I work in the automotive industry and can honestly say that just one notification of doors opening is 1 to many. I hope the kia is not waiting for a death to take place before they correct this serious safety issue. I am disgusted with this happening again even after this part was replaced on 9/3/08 and it is 9/8/08. Not only am I filing this complaint on the web site but I will be contacting the manufacturer as well as contacting my local tv station so that this serious safety issue is addressed.

I own a 2007 kia Sedona minivan. I contacted the dealer concerning the rear sliding passenger doors. The doors had opened on three separate occasions during a family trip to and from ohio in which my two granddaughters were riding in their safety seats. The van was taken in to the dealership and I was told they had no complaints concerning the doors but that they would check the doors. The dealership stated they made door adjustments to both doors. Again the doors opened and I took the vehicle back to the dealer. The gentleman stated he knew what the problem was and he would insure it was corrected. This time I was told it was a sensor. Again the door opened when I took the van back I was told "mrs. Davis we can not find a problem with the doors I don't know what to tell you. " I was so upset by his response that I contacted kia corporate which they asked that I take the van back into the dealer. I was the modules would have to be replaced and that they will take a week to get the parts that they are working with a tech from kia. The modules are replaced in both doors. Again I have another event of the door opening on the passenger side. I also discover my tailgate door only opens manually even though it was to be powered. I take it back to kia and they state they had the wrong modules put in and replaced them with the correct modules. They doors opened twice on my return trip from oklahoma on Saturday November 22, 2008 again I had to stop and close the doors. This vehicle is a real concern as I purchased this vehicle in April 2008 and I have only had it 8 months. It has placed me in fear of transporting my grandchildren who live with us. They are 5 months and 2 years of age.
I have a 2006 kia Sedona. It was bought used in 2007. Approximately one year later both sliding door latches broke. Once opened in normal everyday use the doors would no longer latch closed. The passenger side sliding door was the first to go. After closing the door repeatedly and having it bounce back open we finally got it to latch shut. We then tied the door shut until we could get it in to be serviced. While driving through a parking lot the door again bounced open as far as the rope would let it. On the day before we took the kia into be serviced the driver side sliding door did the same thing. Thankfully the kia was parked in our driveway when this happened. Nothing we could do, other than tying the door shut, would get the door to latch. This is a 2 year old vehicle. The latches should not be having problems. Thank god no one was injured or worse, however if the doors had fully opened while going down the road at normal speed someone could have easily been injured or fallen out.
The contact owns a 2005 kia Sedona. While the vehicle was parked and the key was still in the ignition, the doors automatically locked. The engine was still running. The contact was unable to access the vehicle without calling for auto assistance. The contact was displeased to discover that there was an automatic door lock mechanism. He was concerned that if there were a baby or senior citizen in the vehicle when the failure occurred, they could possibly be injured. The VIN and failure mileage were unavailable.

Power side passenger door opens without warning when in motion. Does not do this all the time just out of the blue no warning. The vehicle has been in the shop several times for the doors and as well as other problems. My main concern is the doors. I have 3 children 3, 7 and 10 and use the vehicle as little a possible and no longer take their friends as well as our dog in this vehicle. I purchased the kia Sedona ex in July 14,2006 and it has only 15,165. 00 miles on it. I have no confidence in the service department and I don't believe they understand the seriousness of my problem. I have done some research online regarding similar complaints in chat rooms, is anything being done about this issue? I am currently working on a case through the lemon law.
We purchased a 2007 kia Sedona brand new off of the showroom floor and we have had problems with the power sliding doors opening all the time we would be traveling at 65mph and the doors would come open on us with children in the vehicle. It was brought it 6 times for repair and continued to open at any given time.
I am an employee of Kia Motors America. Please look into this very dangerous issue. The power sliding doors on 2005-2008 kia Sedona Mini vans open by themselves while the vehicle is in motion. There are many cases reported to kia customer relations department however kia has not made it public. Kia is testing a few updated parts to correct this issue. Most without success. Kia motors has a lot of these cases and may be attempting to cover it up. This is a very dangerous issue given the fact that a child may fall out of the vehicle while the car is in motion. These defective power sliding doors can open at any speeds, on the freeway at 55 mph or driving around town. Please look into this! this is not a joke or a scam. This is a very serious issue that kia may be trying to cover up due to the cost of repair and or not having the correct countermeasure. Customers must be warned and the power sliding doors must be turned off and a manufacture recall issue. Please address this issue immediately. You do not want to read about a child falling out of a Sedona Mini van on the freeway. The VIN that I listed is used just to get this complaint into the NHTSA however all Sedona vans are affected.
The contact owns a 2007 kia Sedona. While driving at any speed, the vehicle hesitates as if it will stall. The check engine light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they performed a diagnostic, which produced misfire code numbers p0305 and p0300. The vehicle was been to the dealer approximately 4 times with no resolution. In addition, both sliding power doors were unlocking and sliding intermittently on their own. The current mileage was 22,560 and failure mileage was 19,582.
Both passenger sliding doors fail to latch in the closed position when closing electrically. Have to manually shove the rear end of the sliding doors into the flushed position. Happens about 10 % of the time.
I have owned my 2006 kia Sedona since August 2006. During that time, the power sliding doors have proved to be extremely unreliable and potentially unsafe. Most of the time, the passenger side sliding door will not close properly. It will power to the closed position, continue trying to close (making a grinding noise) and then either pop open a couple of inches or power open again completely. It will then beep three times. This happens on flat surfaces and even slight inclines. The door has opened whilst driving on the highway. I have been to two dealers (many times) who are unable to replicate the problem or have tried making "adjustments" to them. I keep on being told that the door is operating as per design. We avoid using the passenger side power sliding door when we can. This problem has recently started happening on the driver's side door as well. Judging by the number of complaints about this problem on both the 2006 (and later) kia Sedona and Hyundai entourage (exactly the same vehicle) on the odi website, and numerous internet newsgroups, this is affecting a lot of people. I love the van, but am completely fed up with the power sliding doors and want them fixed.
I need your help to resolve a serious problem. I have nowhere else to turn. My daughter is the owner of a 2003 kia Sedona. Within a three month period, three of the door handles have fallen off this vehicle! after each handle fell off, she reported it to the local kia dealership. She learned that door handles were not covered and that she would have to pay $250. 00 per door to have them repaired. The cost to repair this vehicle is now $750. 00. Kia does not consider defective door handles a safety issue so there has never been a recall. I believe that this is most certainly a safety issue. If my family was involved in an accident, my four little grandchildren would be trapped inside this vehicle. Since I began researching this problem on the internet, I learned that there are many people who have experienced this same problem with their kia Sedona van. Their complaints are the same¿door handles that have fallen off and kia refusing to fix them. This is obviously a manufacturer defeat. I know many people who own antique vehicles¿all their vehicles still have their original door handles. I have never heard of door handles falling off a vehicle, let alone three! I contacted both our local kia dealership and the kia corporation. The kia corporation of America¿s (800-333-4542) consumer affairs assistant sounded like a robot. She told me that this was not a recall item, the time for reporting a manufacturing defeat was over and that nothing would be done! she did say that if we wanted them to look at the vehicle we could bring it into the dealership, pay for diagnostics but they would still not pay to fix this problem. This is just throwing good money after bad! why would I pay them to tell me again they are not going to fix this vehicle? when I spoke to the kia dealership in st. Augustine, they were sympathetic, however, they cannot absorb the costs of the repair. Please help all these kia Sedona owners with this serious problem.
