In 11/04 my abs lights went on in my 02 kia Sedona. I took the van to get new brakes and was told that I needed to take it to the dealership because the abs sensor was broken in pieces on the driver side wheels. In 8/05 my air bag light came on in the dash and stayed on. Before I could get my car in to dealership, I was driving home from work in early 9/05 going ove an overpass when my car just died and lost all power. I was told that my master flow sensor went bad and needed a new one (warranty). They also replaced the seat belt sensor in the drivers side to take care of the air bag light. 2 days later my airbag light came back on. In 12/05 my abs light came on again along with the warning beep. I called my dealership and got appt. Following Tuesday. I was told it should be safe to drive until then. Both headlights also went out. Now when applying brake my brake goes down grinds, adjust then goes all the way down . Got car to dealership tues am. In the afternoon received call 1 yr old battery is leaking acid due to faulty alternator (sending too much power out. Was told must replace battery so that dealership may complete diagnosis. Was told by dealership kia only warranties main issue not any additional items damaged by main issue. Received call a little while ago, told bad altinator needs battery faulty seat belt sensor now in passenger seat belt (3 months ago was drivers side also my headlights are both blown - yes faulty altenator most likely caused this. I was also told that my new brakes (replaced in Aug 05 at less than 3000 mi ago) are wore thin and need relacement along with rotors which now have grooves in them and they are also to thin. I have now replaced the brakes 4 times on a vehicle that is 4 yrs old and being told must replace once again.
The contact stated while driving at 3 to 5 mph the contact's vehicle was hit on n the side by another vehicle pulling from a driveway. The driver and passenger seat belts failed to lock when the impact occurred. The contact sustained injuries to the nose, requiring surgery. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer. Today, the dealer placed the vehicle in an accident simulator in order to test the seat belts. The results showed the seat belts were working properly and did not lock because of the speed at the time of the accident. The dealer determined the seat belts should have locked at a speed of 25 mph.

We were going east on a county road(219th), at about 40 mph. The passengers front tire crossed the white line and slipped into the ditch. Van continued east into a telephone pole, breaking it in 3 pieces. The van then slide sideways and came to rest southbound after hitting a tree. After van came to rest and the driver checked family's safety, it was then discovered that the air bags on both sides had not deployed and that the auto lock feature of the seat belts had not engaged either. We were assisted from the van and contacted the police. Van was towed to wrecking yard (not drivable). Notified kia service manager of failures and he told me to contact kia. He gave us the number and said we need to contact them ASAP and they will contact him. Kia took our information and told us to send pictures and a legible copy of accident to the main office in CA.
We own a 2002 kia Sedona minivan. We bought it new in October of 2002. Since 04/03 we have had to return the car for airbag/seatbelt fault indications four times. In every case the front seat belt buckle sensors have been found to be defective. The dealer mechanic has told us that the air bags would not deploy with this fault indication. With each failure they have had to wait for back ordered parts, and the mechanic says this is a common fault with theses cars. Since they are always waiting for parts to repair this defect, it leads me to believe that there is indeed a widespread problem of this nature. In researchuing past problems on your web site iit seems that air bag/ seatbelt problems are a recurrent kia defect. This is an apparant engineering design defect that puts owners of these vehicles at serious risk. Seatbelts and air bags are a federally mandated safety feature that consumers should have confidence that they will work when needed. Our car is now past it's milage warrenty and now kia insists that we pay for the reoccuring repairs to this important safety system. Consumers should not have to subsidise kia's failure prone system.
While driving 50 mph vehicle was involved in a collision. Upon impact, dual air bags did not deploy, and seat belt broke. According to the consumer the seat belt retractor did not lock during the event. Driver sustained neck injuries during the rollover crash. The back seat had become dislodged during the accident. Recall#03v135000.
Left middle rear seat will not lock child safety seat in place. Seat belt should lock in place once seat belt is in use and fully retracted however it does not. Seat belt has been replaced three times with same result.
Consumer states the seat belts does not latch. Dealer has been notified. Ph.
While driving with child restrained properly in a booster seat, seat belt twisted around child's waist. The more the child moved the tighter the belt wrapped around her. Jlg.
