1 Service Brakes problem of the 2010 Kia Motor Sedona

Failure Date: 02/03/2025

My 2010 kia Sedona has a major problem with the brakes. I had a problem with the brake pedal sinking too far. I took it to a local mechanic. This mechanic installed a new master cylinder. Two days later the brakes started to grab. The brakes were activating without my foot on the brake pedal. I had the kia towed back to the local mechanic. The local mechanic said the master cylinder was working properly. This mechanic told me to take it to the kia dealership to reprogram the abs module. I have had the kia at the kia dealership three different times for this same problem. The first time the kia dealership did do some reprogramming. They also said there was rust in the master cylinder reservoir. The kia dealership has driven the car several miles. They claim they can not duplicate the problem. So they have given the car back to me without doing anything. I have had the problem with the brakes grabbing on three different occasions. Each time I have had to have the kia towed. This problem with the brakes grabbing is extremely dangerous. I am barely able to pull off the road and get the kia towed. The car will slow down considerably. The car will be hard to control. All four rims have been very hot each time when I touch them with my hand after pulling off the road. The left front rim had smoke coming off it the first time this happened. I have to put on my hazards lights as I can not keep up with traffic when the brakes grab. Also, the first time the brakes grabbed, the abs and esc warning lights came on. The last time the brakes grabbed the esc off light came on. The kia dealership has told me that there are no codes stored in the computer. I am afraid to drive the car. It is sitting in my driveway now. The kia only has about 19,000 miles on it. I am trying to find a brake specialist locally that can inspect the vehicle brakes. Not sure what to do now.

4 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Kia Motor Sedona

Failure Date: 10/15/2024

On [xxx] at [xxx] the following incident happen with my 2019 kia Sedona. The abs and traction control warning lights came on when I applied the brakes when approaching a 4 way stop sign intersection, I heard a loud grinding sound from the back of the Sedona. The Sedona took longer to come to a stop, a full vehicle length past the stop bar. I was put at risk by the Sedona being in the intersection, instead of stopping at the stop bar. After clearing the intersection, I pulled over the Sedona, turned it off and then restarted it. Both the abs and traction control lights came back on. I called the jackson kia dealer in cocoa florida and got an answering machine for the service department. I left a message letting them know about the alarm lights and that I had already has at least 2 abs modules replaced. I asked for an appointment as soon as possible to fix the problem. I had been told previously by kia that it was safe to drive, but that I would have manual brakes in the rear and to apply breaks earlier, plus get the Sedona in for repair at the next opportunity for an appointment. As of yet the dealership has not seen the Sedona to diagnose the exact problem and cause. This is when these systems first appeared, and I had no other indications of a problem. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

6 Service Brakes problem of the 2016 Kia Motor Sedona

Vehicle shut off while driving for no apparent reason. Vehicle had plenty of fuel and battery measures 12. 8 volts with engine off, 13. 8 volts when vehicle is on. No error code. Steering and braking stopped working correctly. We were traveling through a parking lot at the time so luckily not at high speed or this could have ended deadly. The vehicle would not immediately start back up, we put it in park, turned the key and the engine would turn over but not start. After 4 or 5 tries it did start, and the only fault to appear was the abs light which came on and stayed on solid. After parking and shutting the vehicle off and restarting it the abs light went away. No other fault codes are or were present.

On or about April 26, 2021, [xxx] heard a loud noise coming from the driveway and went outside to investigate. The van was engulfed in flames, mainly in the engine compartment. He attempted to put the fire out himself. His neighbor called the pinellas park fire department who responded and put out the fire. The vehicle was a total loss.
