Received a recall notice from kia dated 4/8/20 stating hydraulic electronic control unit, which controls esc, tsc and anti-lock brake system, remains energized when vehicle is turned off and an electrical short circuit increases the risk of engine compartment fire even when car is turned off. The parts are not currently available to fix this. In the meantime, I am to park my vehicle outdoors away from other vehicles and structures. I called my local kia dealership to inquire if they knew when the repair would be available and they did not even know of its existence. The service department said kia blows things out of proportion and scares people and they have no idea when and if the repair parts will be in. This is an unacceptable response. Kia needs to communicate with the dealerships about this problem and they need to fix it as soon as possible to avoid injury to consumers. I am left with a van that has the risk of catching on fire. I do not know if it is only when the vehicle is turned off or I am at risk when I am driving the van. Due to being laid off from the current covid 19 crisis, I am not in a position to buy or rent a new car. Also, there is no place to park my car in my home where it is not near another vehicle or structure. I also tried calling kia's consumer assistance center, but the number listed on the letter connects me with roadside assistance and there is no connection for recall information.
Recall on vehicle with no remedy in the foreseen future. Kia dealership said they don't know if it will get fixed. This recall could cause the vehicle to catch fire and they recommend parking in a place that's safe for this to happen.
Tl the contact owns a 2017 kia Sedona. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. Neither the manufacturer nor the dealer were made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

My abs / traction control light has been on for about 4 years and the diagnostic system gives a warning about it. See picture. I have not fixed it because it just reverts back to regular brakes. However, I know that kia has had recalls on the abs / traction control computer board. But my model year was not included in the recall. My mechanic says the issue is my abs / traction control computer board and not a sensor on wheel. I would like my model year to be investigated to see if it can be included in the recall as I plan on keeping this vehicle for many years. Yes, I can make it available for inspection. Safety is loss of anti-lock brakes.

Our vehicle has the electronic stability light, abs, light on. It over heats if sitting still. The cooling fan is not working replaced the fuse relay. For the cooling fan, still no cooling fan. Constantly filling the coolant. It seems to be electrical but I decided to wait for a pro to see if it is recall related. When the light first came on while the van was in motion 55 mph, the lights came on and went off three times for staying on. " abs, electronic stability control, this is when the overheating problem started while idling.

Check bgd warning light came on screen while travelling at 40-45 mph on a straight stretch of city road. Car immediately slowed down. Lost power brakes and power steering. Other dashboard lites came on - -check engine light, etc. I brought vehicle to stop and placed transmission into park,. Vehicle did not restart and the transmission was locked. . Dealer retained vehicle for 28-30 days and was not able to repair it. Dealer subsequently repurchased the vehicle from me.
The contact owns a 2003 kia Sedona. While driving 35 mph, the brake pedal seized halfway down when it was depressed. As a result, the contact swerved onto the sidewalk and stopped 30 yards in a parking lot. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the electric computer braking module did not allow the brakes to stop completely; therefore, the computer reacted as if the vehicle were traveling on ice. The dealer (moritz kia hurst, 110 ne loop 820, hurst, TX 76053, (817) 591-7063) stated that there was no recall for the failure. The manufacturer stated that they would have the dealer inspect the vehicle for free. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 115,800.

Brake pedal soft, brakes fade in panic stop , at vehicle stop brake pedal fades to floor.
Stop lamp switch was replaced in 2013 due to safety recall 13v114000. At present the esc light is malfuntioning and the vehicle will not shift out of park. Took the vehicle to our kia dealership and the service department determined that a faulty stop lamp switch was the cause. The switch was replaced and vehicle operates as normal. A request for reimbursement has been submitted to kia for the cost of the repair. This is a major safety concern and I feel it is the responsibility of Kia Motors to issue another recall.
Abs(automatic breaking system) and esc ( electronic stability control) lights both came on at the same time on the dashboard as I was driving on the PA. Turnpike. Took car to service station for inspection and it was checked, they said it was the abs pump. Took car to abeloff kia dealer who ordered, replaced and repaired the problem at $2,863. 00. Car still at dealer waiting pickup.

I had issues putting in park and then getting out of park. Disconnected battery cable to turn off vehicle. Battery seemed dead but had battery checked out it's fully good. Now my abs, battery, brake, esc lights all came on and vehicle has no power. Seems like it could be brake-tramission shift interlock problems?.

The persistent problem that we have had with our vehicle is the engine shuts down while driving, causing a serious safety hazard. The safety hazard is serious in that, while the vehicle is in motion, power steering shuts off and the brakes are slow to work. Each occurrence has happened when the vehicle is in drive and moving at a speed of approximately 20-25 mph. This has happened 3 times: - January 29,2017 - January 30, 2017 - February 16, 2017 the circumstances in each instance included driving and maintaining approximately 20-25 mph. Other factors are unknown. Fortunately, in each instance, I was able to pull safely to the side of the road and assess the vehicle. The first two occurrences, I pushed the start button and it was evident the vehicle starting system was acting unusual as it tried starting. The vehicle eventually started and I was able to continue driving. The third occurrence on February 16, 2017, I took kia's advice and did not attempt to start the vehicle and contacted kia roadside service. The second event occurred the next day on January 30, 2016 under similar circumstances. Again I was able to pull over without the power steering system functioning properly to a safe area and re-start the vehicle with the same uncommon sounds from the starting system. I called joe myers kia in houston, texas and explained the occurrences. On January 31, I drove the vehicle to joe myers kia for troubleshooting and repair of the vehicle. The vehicle has been to the dealership two times to address the safety defect. The first time was January 24, 2017 for 8 days. The service department could not duplicate the concern. The next time, it was towed on February 16, 2017 and it stayed there for 41 days. Kia did install a flight recorder to record all systems the second time the vehicle was brought in.
While pulling into my driveway going between 5-10 mph I applied the brake and the vehicle lunged forward into my garage door which was closed and damaged another car parked in the garage. If the other car was not there to stop it I may have been killed. I reported this to kia and the investigation only showed a blown fuse when they connected it to the tester. There are two other accidents that I know of with similar circumstances, please check into this before someone is killed or loses money due to something that was not their fault. By the way I was turning right into my driveway and my husband was backing out in his car when this took place and he saw the whole thing.
My daughter was driving when this incident occurred. While in heavy traffic, she had come to a stop. After stopping then resuming a very slow speed (5 mph or less), while her foot was on the brake pedal, the vehicle lunged forward in to the vehicle in front of her, causing significant front-end damage and air bag deployment. A few weeks prior to this, I was in the vehicle in my front yard at a stand still, engine running and transmission in drive because I was going to be moving it slightly, and it suddenly lunged forward while my foot was on the brake. At the time I thought I had done something wrong, but now with a similar thing happening with a different driver, and such extreme damage, there must be a bigger problem.
The contact owns a 2010 kia Sedona. While the vehicle was operated, it experienced unintended acceleration after the brake pedal was depressed. As a result, the vehicle crashed into a tree. The failure occurred without warning. A police report was not filed and there were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and repaired. Months later, the failure recurred. The contact shifted gears and the engine revved. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 90,000.
The contact owns a 2008 kia Sedona. The contact stated that the key fob failed to open and unlock the doors as well as turn the alarm off. The contact stated the rear driver and passenger side windows failed to open all the way, and the passenger front door failed to close correctly as the chime and dome light remained on while driving. The contact stated to remedy the door failure her spouse placed a piece of metal between the door and the sensor to correct this issue. The rear passenger side sliding door also failed to connect with the sensor correctly as the door chime and dome light remained on. The check engine light would illuminate while driving at various speeds. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure cause was unknown to the contact however, the contact stated that she was informed that the battery, air bag sensors, and four catalytic converters needed replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to a radiator shop where the failure cause was diagnosed as a relay that needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that they had a smog test completed and was informed that only one catalytic converter had to be replaced. The catalytic converter was not replaced due to the cost. The contact stated that while her spouse was driving approximately 30 mph, the brake was depressed and the vehicle failed to stop as the brake started to pulsate. The contact stated the vehicle collided with another vehicle. The contact stated that no injuries were sustained in either vehicle. The contact stated the California highway patrol was contacted and was on the scene however, a report was not filed. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnoses or repairs. The contact stated that she received notifications of NHTSA campaign number: 20v088000 (electrical system, service brakes, hydraulic) in January of 2021. The dealer was notified and stated that the parts were not available as they had to order them. The contact stated that the dealer.
A year ago I do receive a recall letter notifying for rusty lower arms wheels to be replaced but such thing never happened. The dealer just apply more rust inhibitors but procedures was not the appropriate cure for the problem. When the vehicle is on motion a very disturbing noise came just under the wheels. See pictures they are more self explanatory just the driver side it's shown due to file limitation.
The electrical doors stopped working and do not latch, the door fly open when we turn a corner. The esc light is on. My brakes and transmission has malfunctioned. . Malfunctions in SC 134. Sc133. Sc098. The ;suspenision and clicks and clutters. Since this year alone my van has malfunctioned in all the areas, u can see when looked at. . . The doors alone are dangerious.
With emergency brake the van rolled away.
This vehicle has 65,000 miles on it and yesterday I did the third break job this van has had. No vehicle should go through breaks as fast as this one does. On top of that, my airbag light has been on since 20,000 miles and all kia dealers I have brought this van to refuses to look into it. Now that I am no longer under warranty with kia I plan on bringing it to another shop.
On 05-10-16 my 2008 kia Sedona was parked in the drive way. It was not on. It had not been driven for more than 24 hours. The key was not in the ignition. We were removing one of the back passenger seats on the driver's side. The side door had remained open. In the past we had problems with the driver's side sliding door, it wouldn't open or wouldn't close. While removing the seat the open door indicator (buzzing) came on. Did not know why it came on, the car was in park and was off. A couple of minutes later the smell of smoke was coming from the car. Did not see where it was coming from at first and then smoke was coming out of the engine area. The hood was opened and there were flames on the driver's side behind the steering wheel. The fire dept. Was called but we were able to put the flames out before it became dangerous and cancelled the call. The battery had to be disconnected to avoid having the flames start up again. The vehicle was towed to a kia dealer to investigate the cause. After a few days of waiting the dealer concluded the abs may have caused the fire. The fire had burned the wiring harness and fire wall. The car was totaled due to not being able to confirm the actual cause of the fire. To date we do not know what actually caused the fire but we had to buy another car. I want to point out if you have a problem with the door system be alert. If your car is in park with the key out of the ignition and you have warning buzzards go off check the current status of the vehicle, possible relay over load to door connection. Not confirmed, but was the only power operating part to the vehicle that was in use when the fire started.
I was driving the 2014 kia sorento on us27 in cincinnati, ohio (55mph zone) and all of a sudden the vehicle slowed (I wasn't pressing the brake pedal) and the vehicle stopped in the middle of a busy roadway. I had to floor the gas to get it to move to the side of the roadway. There was a odor of something burning when I finally got out of the road. The traction control light was illuminated during the time. The vehicle had to be towed to a local kia dealer. They said it had 5 major codes on diagnostic, they couldn't duplicate the problem that lead me to the dealer. But they wouldn't return the vehicle due to safety concerns.
