1 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/21/2021

I had my kia for 32 days when I was leaving the dealership from picking up the tag from southeastern auto, the check engine light came on all of a sudden. We were going down a very curvy highway running 45 to 50 mph. Mind you, no problem until then. We made 5 miles when it lost power. It wouldnt go over 35mph. We called the dealership and was told to stop and turn it off and back on, as it may be in limp mode. After we did that we were headed back to the dealership when it completely lost all power, then it sounded like grinded up metal and spit it out. Then it shut off and would not crank. We were right on the road, in a curve that was up hill. Where traffic was very flying both directions. It was terrifying waiting for the tow truck the dealership sent. They sent it to their mechanic in wilkesboro, who determined it threw a rod threw the motor. Now it's being towed to a kia dealership where they are supposed to put a new motor in it for $300bfrom.

2 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/20/2021

The flashing check engine light came on my 2017 kia Sorento, the car went into limp mode, and would not drive over 20 mph. I was driving on an interstate at the time, and it was extremely dangerous to cross two highway lanes at 20 mph trying to pull over to the shoulder. The car was towed to burns auto shop. They pulled up code p1326 and said this was a known kia issue and a kia dealer should fix it for free. My car has 35,000 miles and is still under the 10 year/100,000 miles kia warranty. The car was towed to fred beans kia dealer in langhorne, PA, who refused to check it for 10 days. Kia refused to pay for a rental car (even retroactively) until the mechanic checked it - a huge inconvenience to my family of 6 who had to use 1 car for 2 weeks. When fred beans finally checked the car, they claimed to not be able to see the code. They conceded that what happened is a known kia issue and could happen again at any time. It's terrifying to know my car could at any time slow down to 20 mph on the highway. Despite kia's claims that the car could drive up to 55 mph with the code on, my speed plummeted to 20 mph within seconds and would not go up despite pressing the gas pedal for several minutes. Kia said my car's VIN was not among those affected by the recall. Yet, since the p1326 issue did happen to my car, my VIN should be included. Despite knowing of the issue, kia and its dealers refuse to take my family's safety seriously. They both suggest I keep driving until it happens again. After reading online reviews, it's clear kia and its dealers routinely try to avoid fixing problems covered by warranty. Kia claims they have no control over their authorized dealers. Yet, it's kia's responsibility to pay for issues covered under warranty. I'd like kia to fix the known code p1326 problem, so I can enjoy full use of my car without expecting it to malfunction at any moment.

3 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 05/10/2019

Check engine light started flashing and engine speed became restricted. Took to kia dealership and said kia agreed to replace engine under warranty. 2 months later ive gotten no info from kia as to when to expect a new engine. It was 3 weeks then 6 weeks may be as long s 4 months.

4 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 02/14/2019

I stepped on the accelerator to increase speed from 45 mph to 55 mph, but the car lost power & the "check engine light began flashing rapidly. I was nearly rear-ended, & went toward the curb, but did not want to wait for towing there (isolated: rt. 183 schuylkill ounty, PA) & felt some power engagement, so put on "emergency flashers" & called dealer who'd just had this car in < 3 wks previously, for the 3rd time for my objection that " this car w/ < 15 k miles on it hesitates when I step on the gas", starting 6 wks p new car purchase & Jan. 26,2019 for a "product improvement" recall. I needed to drive 10 miles to my dr's appt & my car did lurch thru traffic light, but did not turn itself off. When the "codes" were read p flatbed towing to the dealer (savage kia), I was told that kia hdqtrs would decide b/c savage didn't recognize the codes. Sat. Am, 48 h p my car's self-destruction they called wanting to send my engine to kia hdqtrs & place a rebuilt engine (of indeterminate milage prior to its retooling) in my car w/< 15 k mi. Of wear on it. I noticed the ongoing class action suit wrt kia's design flaw in Sorento engines & see no value in driving that model engine that the boobs kept insisting was perfectly fine til the recall notice came, then whatever they did was ineffective & the engine's rubble less than 250 miles later. I've forbidden the dealership to take apart my car or alter the codes while I learn more from independent sources. I want a full, not a partial refund of all money, as kia holds the lien on this defective, inadequately serviced item & they can study it, but not @ my expense. . .

5 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 12/06/2018

I was driving my car going 50mph or 60mph and all of a sudden the check engine light came on and the car slowed down while I had my feet on the gas pedal all the way down to the floor causing me to have to pull over immediately when in traffic. I cut the car off and let it sit for a couple of mins and when I cut it back on it sounded like the car was idiled to high. I tried to driver again only for the car to jerk and seemed like it was driving itself only to slow down again to only 10mph with my feet all the way down on the gas pedal.

6 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 10/27/2017

On four different ocasions this vehicle completely died each time while going different speeds. One of these times I was in high speed traffic on an expressway, almost causing a wreck. The first time it died I was on a road going about 40 miles per hour, the second time the check engine light came on and it started making a surging sound. The third time I was in high speed traffic going 65 and it completely died, the fourth time I had just started driving and was going about 15 mph when it died.
