Driving on interstate during a partly cloudy day at 53 degrees going 65 mph. There were vehicles approximately half a mile away in the front of us and approximately 2 car lengths behind us with no noticeable debris on the road. Moon roof was fully extended and the moon roof exploded without warning (not due to rocks). It sounded like a gun shot went off and we were covered in glass.

Pearl white paint has suddenly begun flaking off from roof of my 2019 Sorentosxl. It is running above the length of the driver side door. Paint should not be doing that. Looks like a factory defect. Noticed many other complaints for the exact same issue. Kia defers to the warranty but kia should fix this regardless of warranty timeline since this is not as a result of external forces or owner error.

The paint on my 2015 kia Sorento (snow white pearl) is peeling off large sheets, exposing the metal underneath. This is a know issue affecting many kia and hyndai vehicles. I am concered it will lead to rust, safety issues, and reduce visibility. A piece laded on my windshield blocking my view. Kia has denied repair and has a case pending more research. Case number is 25399760. This is cleary a manfacturer defect happening to this color only. It is peeling on the hood and doors and back side. I am the original owner.

I am writing to bring to your attention a concerning issue regarding the instrument panel of the 2016-2020 kia Sorento. My car - 2017 kia Sorento. In approx. 2021, I noticed a small 2 cm crack resembling a razor blade cut on my instrument panel (part number: 84710-c5000wk, also 84710-c6000wk and 84710-c6001wk). At the time, I did not find this defect alarming as it was minor and located far from the airbag area. However, over time, the situation has deteriorated significantly. The small crack has now developed into three substantial cracks measuring between 6 to 8 inches, with some of them encroaching upon the airbag area. I am increasingly concerned that these cracks may impact the airbag deployment mechanism and potentially result in fragments from the panel flying out during a collision, an issue that has been documented in other vehicle brands in the past. After conducting some research, I found that this problem appears to be common among the kia Sorento models manufactured between 2016 and 2020. Numerous sources online indicate that these dashboard cracks pose a safety hazard. I have made attempts to address this issue directly with kia. However, I was informed that the initial inspection fee is $150, and the estimated cost for part replacement and installation is approximately $3,959. This amount is quite significant. I urge your organization to investigate this matter further and consider providing a remedy for affected customers. Thank you for your attention to this important matter.

I purchased my kia Sorento in August of 2024 in April 2025 my kia went into limp mode p1326.   it was determined to be part of the ksds recall but all they did is replace the sensor.   something caused that sensor to go off and I feel they just masked the problem.    at the same time in April I was told that there is a severe case of oil consumption that the kia dealership requested information I do a $700 engine cleaning but actually made the oil consumption worse.    also just in the last 11 months ive had excessive paint issues where overall there's random chips, then peeling on the hood, side of the windshield and top of vehicle.   I messaged kia USA where I was informed neither situation is covered under warranty.    my thoughts on oil consumption is I myself and the previous owners via carfax show consistent maintenance which in turn make it seem to be a manufacturer issue.   I'm in imperial mo 63052 USA  not sure if your company can help or refer me to someone who can.  .

Hey I’ve recently wrecked my vehicle due to malfunctions this year just a few months ago & I reported it to the dealer before I crashed it. That something was wrong with the engine and also sent the dealership I purchased it from videos before hand but nobody would listen to me. Now my car is sitting in a lot engine blowed and I can’t afford another one. I have proof , names and also couldn’t get my car fixed because I only had liability insurance only. No report was filed because me and the other vehicle was transported to uab hospital.

Snow white pearl paint is not bonding to kia Sorento roof.

The panoramic sun roof opens but will not close. It takes 6-12 attempts to get it to close, it will move to where its an inch away from closing then reopen. Kia has recalls for this make and year but says my car is not affected. Attempting to get it to close is very distracting and frustrating taking focus away from driving.

On March 19 I completed my 8,000 mile oil change and then drove to florida. I had a warning light to change my oil since the company did not reset it. Unsure of the other warning lights. As I was driving in florida on the interstate the car started having issues. It was making a noise, then started smoking and by the time I got off the exit and got out the front right of the car was in flames. I was transported to the er with smoke inhalation. The car in still in clermont, FL with no resolution. The car has been inspected by the insurance and a third party inspector. The last I was told the inspection report is with the kia engineers. I am unaware at this point what the failure was that led to the fire. No response from kia for over a month.

Severe paint delamination has occurred on my vehicle, causing the clear coat and base coat (snow white pearl color) to come off on the side of the hood, pillars, the doors, and the hood of the car. Not only does the peeling paint create an airborne/debris hazard, it also risks exposing the vehicle to premature rust/corrosion. This issue slowly began not to long after I bought the car in November 2024, and has only gotten much worse. From the information I have gathered online, this is a widespread issue affecting this particular model/year/color of kia. We need something done about it ASAP!.

The paint on our kia sorrento is chipping and flaking off.

We have a 2016 kia Sorento that has the snow white pearl paint. Our vehicle has a tad over 100k miles and the paint is peeling. We take care of our car and always have it clean and do not understand why this is happening. Paint is flaking / peeling off in large amounts exposing the primer underneath. I had a body shop look at it and they say it looks like something went wrong with the painting process when vehicle was made. I have a 1997 Ford ranger that has 280k miles on it without this issue so I do not believe that this is a mileage / age issue. I did reach out to kia but had no luck with this problem. The rear glass panel on the panoramic sunroof shattered without being bumped or hit, the gar is garage kept and in a treeless parking lot in day. The loud noise as well as damger of glass falling into back seat of car is dangerous. Am taking it to dealership this weekend for them to diagnose a cause but were unable to see us for three days.

I have the snow white paint, and it is peeling in several areas. Hood, roof, and section that goes from fender to roof.

The Sorento is coated with a "snow white pearl" paint that started delaminating rapidly. I took it to the dealership at first for a pen touch up, but it started chipping and peeling exponentially quicker lately. This is a serious issue as the paint is the only protector of the body from rust and wear.

Paint on our pearl white 2016 Sorento is beginning to delaminate on the front of hood and the two pillar posts. It began as a small bubble and continues to spread and chip off. Several quarter-sized spots now and two hand-sized places.

There is delamination of the snow pearl white paint. It has been reported and noted at the kia dealership. Starting on the hood and passenger driver side door. It is literally falling off after a bubble formed under the paint. Kia has pictures of this.

I have a 2013 kia Sorento with severe paint delamination. The paint is chipping across multiple areas of the vehicle, and I need assistance resolving this issue with kia to secure coverage for a complete repaint.

The paint on my vehicle has started to peel and is increasing getting worse. Will kia repaint my car. It's looking very bad.

Vehicle has paint that is delaminating in numerous places. It starts as a raised area then the paint just flakes off leaving bare metal exposed. My vehicle value has gone down and the cost to repaint is over $4000 because the damage is not isolated to one area, but is scattered across all sections of the car body. The paint color code is swp, snow white pearl. We have been to the kia dealership where the car was purchased new. They said we would have to call kia corporate, which we did, but their answer was for us to pay out of pocket for repainting and then try to get reimbursed from them. Corporate told us they were not taking any action for paint beyond the 3 year / 36k warranty period.

2018 kia Sorento. Snow white pearl paint started delaminating at about 45,000 miles. Now it has 51,000 miles and I have multiple spots where it is delaminating on the hood, front bumper, and fender. Also, where the paint is delaminating I am also starting to see small chips on the paint below since the clear coat is gone. I cant believe my car paint is having issues and it only has 51,000 miles on it. It has been stored in a garage for the life of the car.

My pearl white 2019 kia Sorento lx is peeling terribly. It's very ugly and is causing my car to rust in spots.

Reason is unknown, was driving down road and car yanked to the right cause family to wreck in to a guard rail, no lights appeared before wreck, it was not raining and was not speeding. Clear sunny day. Police report has been made and has made several attempts to contact kia, car has been in body shop since July. Wreck has happened in July. Car is still at body shop kia told body shop there was no time line on getting any parts to repair, they do not know if it will be this year.

Infotainment center continues to have issues/restarting as if the car was just started. Attempted to resolve with kia after ongoing issues but they do not feel that this is a safety concern or feel it needs to be investigated appropriately. This occurs when driving typically on the highway because most of my travel is highway. When this occurs it is a distraction for the driver. It interferes with the ability to use hands free/calls/gps. Timestamped photos and video available.

Paint has peeled off and continues to peel off from many places on the vehicle. One large spot is on top where no debris from the road hits. Since this has started it has only gotten worse. I believe the entire car will be paint free if this situation is not rectified. Currently there are five different locations where the paint has peeled off. Color of my vehicle is snow white pearl.

Above the windshield on the driver's side, paint is progressively peeling away with regular operation of my pearl-white 2017 kia Sorento. What began as a very small and barely noticeable chip in the paint has progressed to a large paint-less spot. On the hood and surrounding areas, paint chips are appearing as well. According to the auto body repair shop I received an estimate from, this is referred to as "delamination" and is a result of poor quality paint or craftsmanship in the manufacturing process. The auto body shop said this is a recurring issue in white kia Sorentos specifically. Many other owners of white kia Sorentos have reported this same issue.

My vehicle's snow pearl white paint is flaking off in large chunks on the windshield pillars (both sides), as well as chipping all over the body. The chipping began in 2018 (2 years after purchase) and the large chunks began in 2022. Paint chunks have flown off my car while driving on the highway. Missing paint is now leading to the body of the car rusting. My car is available for inspection. The dealership has inspected the problem and informed me I am not the first person they have encountered with this same problem. It is specifically common with snow pearl white paint. Bubbles are forming under the paint in other spots now, and I am worried about the possibility of it coming off in larger chucks on the hood- which could possibly create a projectile/vision obstruction. I have provided photos to the manufacturer in 2022 and started a case number. I have not heard back since.
