Paint Problems of Kia Motor Sorento - part 2

On Thursday October 15, 2020 I was getting in my car and saw something on it. I thought it was a leaf and realized the paint was peeling off. I touched it and the paint kept peeling. Upon doing research I saw where this problem was happening in kia cars 2014 and others that were the pearly white color. It looks terrible and according to other car owners of the kia pearly white it is going to get worse. It was not due to weather like hail or any particular issue. I called kia local dealers and they had heard of it but said they couldn't do anything so then I called corporate and was rudely talked to stating they knew their was a problem but it was over 36k. I am disabled and don't drive much. This car only has 46,339 miles on it. I am wanting the entire car repainted because what I see on the complaints it is going to get worse.

Paint chipping defective paint both sides of front windshield also had the top of the car paint chipped dealer fixed that patch when bought the car then both sides of the windshield started to chip going all the way down to the hood of the car.

The paint is peeling in large pieces from the hood and doors. It happened both times just driving down the road. There are several spots on the vehicle that are bubbling and will eventually peel as well.

The paint has chipped off in a large portion of the hood. It is not a normal paint chipping but rather a large piece/section just came flying off during driving time, approxiamtely 50 miles per hour.

Pearl pain is peeling and chipping. Went thru car wash and it chipped hood car wash paid for it to be repaired. Then on 9/15/20 it was raining and the rain chipped the paint on the door frame. Nothing hit it or damaged it I was driving but the rain peeled my paint. That's when I decided to do some research because there is no reason why my paint should chip like that and found out that the paint is faulty. I also discover there was a recall due to faulty break lines and leaks and I believe I may have a break leak because everytime its time for an oil change the break light comes on and once they put fluid in it it goes off. My upkeep has been immaculate since owning this car and all of these issues I believe are due to factory defect.

My engine is burning a large amount of oil. I take it in to do regular changes. I have a 2013 kia Sorento. It has 136000 miles just recently the oil light started coming on, checked the dip stick and it registers none. Its been taken for regular oil changes but burns up the oil before its time for a chsnge. I don't understand. Also ive seen numerous white Sorentos on the road and most of them have the same paint problem on the roof right above windshield. Its peeling off and getting worse. Also cracking around kia symbol on rear hatch. It started with rust spots then, cracking then paint peeling. The engine problem seems to be a wide spread problems with kia owners and the paint obviously is a defect from the factory. Love my Sorento but need these issues fixed.

The paint started peeling from the hood of my car 2 years ago. It started as small cracks, so I ordered paint repair pens from kia and tried to repair it myself, but it did not work. Now it has expanded to bigger areas. Afraid to wash the car because all the paint may peel off.

The pearl white paint is chipping off of my kia Sorento on the windshield pillars, above the windshield and the hood and various other locations. . . . The paint finish is faulty and was not properly applied.

My pearl white paint is peeling in sheets on the rear quarter panel on the drivers side and is coming off all along each side of the windshield and in spots all along the car.

Snow white pearl paint is falling off the car. The most noticeable areas are behind the sunroof and over the driver's door.

Paint chipping on the hood and top of my car/ color is white.

Kia Sorento pearl white paint peeling chipping and delamination. Paint on roof of car has been rapidly chipping peeling away and is now rusting. The streak has grown about 2 inches in the past week and a half. Concerned that it will not stop and is defective and have seen several complaints for kia Sorento pearl white paint.

The pearl white paint on my 2015 kia sorrento is peeling off. Small areas around the windshield started at first and now the sides of the windshield are coming off in larger sections. All of these areas are starting to show signs of rust as well. Additionally, there are several small spots on the hood of the vehicle which are showing signs of rust as well. This is progressively getting worse over time and I am not doing anything to the vehicle (not even washing in fear of more coming off) at this point.

The paint chipped off the roof of my pearl white 2013 kia Sorento and now it is delaminating from the primer. This is causing rust. When I drive the paint is coming off.

I have paint peeling from just above my windshield and along the side of the windshield.

The pearl white paint is peeling off around the windshield front pillars and hood while driving down highway.

The paint is pealing off of the body of the car in multiple locations, most notably on either side of the windshield. This is causing the the body to rust in those locations which compromises the integrity of the vehicle.

Rapid paint peel due to delamination. It started as a tiny do then rapidly begin to peel on the panel next to the windshield on the driver's side.

This paint is peeling off in large sheets on the passenger side, starting on the windshield support and now above the second row door on passenger side.

My 2016 kia with pearl white paint is peeling very badly on my hood and roof. This is obviously a major problem or defect with the paint. I thought at first it was a rock chip but it was not. It is spreading all over the hood and roof.

The paint is delaminating and quickly chipping away in multiple areas of the car, but started on the windshield pillar. The body shop informed me they had seen this exact thing on other kia Sorentos and suggested I contact kia. They estimated $2,700 to repaint. My body color is pearl white.

Started in February 2020. Paint is chipping terribly and starting to rust. Top of windshield and front of car are the worst areas.

I began noticing paint chips in 2019 on a 5 year old vehicle. These spots have become larger and larger in various locations on the car primarily the hood, a frame, and roof. I have also noticed this same issue with other kia Sorento's that are also pearl white. There seems to be a defect in the paint. I know that alone may not be a huge issue but what if it contributes to another issue? there are already several serious recalls. If there is a defect in the paint, what happens if it gets too hot or something?.

Paint chipping away and rust underneath. Appears like no primer was used. This occurring still above windshield and across left to right of top cabin, at least 8� up. Started as 1-2 small spots. Kia service blamed it on being hit by something and wouldn't go further in 12/2019. I told them it was from wind shear from driving. At the time car has just over 30k, out of paint warranty. . Now it's 20 times worse. Auto collision shops agreed it's a paint defect. I went to corporate complaint and was shot down saying it's up to local kia judgment. Paint is delaminating and peeling at the top and side of the windshield. So badly that I'm afraid to wash it! it's starting to rust now from it. It is consistently getting worse without me even touching it.

I have had the vehicle for about 6 months, and have been noticing the paint is flaking off. It's just beginning for me, but I did some research and noticed that all the people complaining about this issue on various kia models had tri-coat pearl white paint. The paint on the top of my car started chipping started as a spot then spread it seemed to bubble up and blow off in the wind had it fixed - now the pain on my hood is doing the same.

Out of no where paint started chipping then peeling off on driver side upper panel above window . Then it started to peel off on front end driver side. The car has rust spots and chips. Looks like the roof will be next. The paint in continuing to peel. It's extremely thin paint and seems very dry. The car also molds easily in the trunk area.
