I just purchased this vehicle on Saturday. And now my engine light is on. It is blinking. I did my research after getting the car and the code p1326 came up at autozone. After that it showed that code with recalls for 2011 to 2017.

While driving, my car slowed down and wouldn't accelerate pass 35 or 40 mph. I had to turn into a parking lot and restart the car. It drove fine, upon restarting. My obd reader indicated dtc p200a intake manifold runner. Aaa informed me of kia's notice regarding the same issue. This has happened on 4 occasions over the past weekend.

My car started jumping while driving we had put oil in my car 3 weeks prior. It also smelt like my car was burning while the heat was on I had 2 babies in the back seat and I was scared to death. I haven’t received anything in the mail about any recalls what so ever. I had to hear by a family friend the day of the incident that he thinks they’re recalls on my call so I looked it up. My car is currently not working now and I have work and doctors appointments for babies I got to kia tomorrow they’re saying I don’t have any recalls on my car and I looked it up on here and I do. I’m pretty sure they’re just not wanting to pay for it. They said if I have a warranty they could do. I just don’t know what to do I have no car and I Ave 2 children I can’t afford to not have a vehicle.

My kia Sorento uses roughly 2-4 quarts of oil every week or 2. The smell of oil is so strong in the car it’s almost unbearable. Just this week the the alert about a door being open is going off and the locks are malfunctioning. It locks and unlocks at random and it keeps sayings a door is open when it isn’t. The cruise control also stopped working.

I was driving on the highway last night again and my 2022 kia Sorento sx prestige awd lost engine power and the check engine light immediately came on. The truck would intensely vibrate when I tried to push the gas to get over to the highway shoulder. This was extremely unsafe on a highway but I was able to pull over to the shoulder and stop the car and turn it off. When I turned it on, the check engine light remains on and vibrations persist. Even after waiting and multiple restarts. This was the fourth event of this engine issue in the past 6 months. With the same engine power loss and crazy vibrations. The three previous times, the engine light goes off after the first restart and truck drives normal. I even brought it into the dealer and they used the engine diagnostic device that showed no code so they say there’s nothing they can do. But now it’s the following morning, engine light remains on and car is shaking still. I have recordings of this event now bc napleton kia of elmhurst is not believing me. As a traveling healthcare worker, my vehicle is my primary resource. The truck barely has 17k miles on it and all maintenance and care is on point. To shell out over $60k for a ‘top of the line’ SUV that could’ve just ended my life on the expressway is extremely terrifying and disappointing. I urge the NHTSA to please look into these engine issues before someone’s life is ended because of it.

The abs brake light, traction control, and downhill assist lights all came on at the same time. This is being caused by a faulty speed sensor. This item was recalled on the two wheel drive kias, but not the all wheel drive models. . . Hiwever. . Looking for answers in the forums show that there is a systemic problem in the kia system, just google search it and watch all the other car owners stories pop up.

Sometimes the cruise control works. Sometimes it doesn't work. Even after vehicle is warmed up still no resolution. Engine oil disappears without notice or warning.

We were driving on the highway at about 65 mph. Without warning, the vehicle suddenly started to struggle and slowed to about 40 mph. We were able to safely pull over, but we were in an acceleration lane merging onto another highway and didn't feel safe due to the sudden deceleration. This is a plug-in hybrid. We have driven at 65+ mph on long rides before, and this was the first time that we noticed that the battery had completely drained. We expect that when the battery is drained that the car would function like a normal hybrid and continue to function in a safe manner. The car's cluster displayed a message along the lines of "maintaining hybrid mode," although it isn't clear if the speed-limiting behavior was an expected consequence of that. After being pulled over for a bit, the battery level recuperated enough that we attempted to resume driving on side roads. Battery level varied from red to blue (normal) and then back to red, but thankfully the battery didn't fully deplete again and we were able to return home safely. We're waiting on an appointment with a dealership to have the car checked out. It was last serviced 3 days prior to the incident (first oil change, filters changed, etc).

I was driving down the highway on cruise control going 67 on a 65. The car started revving up and then proceeded to go faster. I turned off the cruise control but its continued to speed up. I stomped on the brake 4 or 5 times with no effect. I rammed into the back of a bus at 110 mph.

Dear NHTSA, I am writing to report a serious safety issue with my 2023 kia Sorento, purchased in February 2023 from ken garff kia avondale. In July 2023, I began experiencing alarming issues, including flashing lights, dashboard error messages, and malfunctions, despite the vehicle being unused for several days with no visible damage. The air conditioning system malfunctioned, blowing hot air even when turned off. Upon inspection at the dealership, I was told the front sensor was damaged, with a repair estimate of $1700. However, no visible damage was evident, and I believe this issue should be warranty-covered due to its electronic nature. The dealership noted that 35 others faced similar problems, raising concerns of a manufacturing issue. Despite persistent efforts and a replacement part installed nearly two weeks later, the problem persists. I've incurred nearly $500 in rental car expenses, as the situation remains unresolved, even with involvement from kia corporate engineers. My aim in reporting this issue is to ensure consumer safety and seek a prompt resolution, as I continue to make $1k monthly payments for an unused Sorento. In may of 2021 my 2014 kia sorrento had major engine problems. I brought it to myrtle beach kia immediately and after 5 months of back and forth and paying for rental vehicles, I was told that they would not cover any repairs due to the recall! I then paid $8, 663. 63 for a repair that was never fully completed. Immediatley after receiving vehicale back, check engine light was on. Numerous call to the delearship and I was told dont worry it just needs to cyclwe through. My vehicle has never been properly services by them. I have kept up will all oil changes and maintenance in the meantime. I was told the check engine light codes were po335 & po 0018. I have had the camshaft bank sensor and crankshaft sensor replaced on 7/14 and this vehicle still has same check engine light on and is not receiving proper power while driving. I looked up recalls and found that currently recall 21 v331000 is in effect, this recall is a major safety issue especially being that I have 3 children that I drive around in and there may be a fire! I called myrtle beach kia and the earliest they can get me in to service is a month from now, on 8/11!! I feel that especially after everything I have been put through with this vehicle and the amount of money I have put out, that a loaner car would be offered to me to drive while waiting for them to fix the safety recall. The vehicle slows unexpectedly while driving and will not go above 2 rpm causing me to slow to below 40 mph on the highway without any warning. I took the vehicle to kia for an airbag recall and suddenly I started to have these engine problems. They never informed me there was a recall on my vehicle or that this issue could occur. I am not the original owner and acquired the vehicle from my dad, which he purchased from someone else. I had the vehicle checked out by aaa and the knock sensor was replaced, yet the issue continued to happen. I took the vehicle back to kia because aaa could not figure out why the car continues to have this engine issue. Kia cannot seem to figure out the issue as well but stated the engine needs to be replaced. We asked them about the recall because I suddenly received notice about the class action lawsuit, but the vehicle has 185,472 miles on it and they refused to correct the issue and said the new engine will cost $7200. The issue has almost placed me in several accidents because the vehicle abruptly slows down and I have to pull to the side of the road use a code reader to clear the code in order to drive again but it continues to happen multiple times while driving and I need to get to work. The problem has been confirmed by kia, but they won't replace it. We were encouraged to file a complaint and see if kia will take responsibility for their engine since it has been recalled for this issue and a lawsuit ensued. The engine light appears when the car fails to drive properly.

Both rear speed sensors have gone bad. One under warranty, one outside. This disables safety speed systems and speed control.

My 2021 kia sorrento has shut down and died while on a highway drive 2 days in a row. The engine light comes on, the oil light comes on, and and the phrase “engine off. Shift to n then start engine” comes on. Prior to this, other issues were happening. Originally, my automatic start wasn’t working properly, and a kia service advisor told me to “turn that feature off”. After that, while driving down the road last month, all symbols on my dash began flashing and the phrase “check forward safety system” appeared.

Was driving at 11mph and car would not accelerate almost causing and accident issues with engine sparking flames fuel system problems, transmission issues when putting the vehicle into park. Engine problems check engine light keeps blinking on an off system says park vehicle do to diagnosed problems. Suspension issues afraid to drive vehicle do to so many safety problems.

Cruise control works erratically when turned on at times I can't set the speed, othertimes it won't cancel using the cancel button the only way to cancel it is to tap the brake pedsl or turn the cruise off, sometimes it will not turn on and at other times it works as it should.

My car went into sudden unintended acceleration when I shifted from neutral to drive. I was in a gas station that was perpendicular to highway traffic. When I attempted to come out of the car wash tunnel to get my car dried off, the car accelerated out of control, the gas pedal was stuck and the brakes would not engage. The car flew out of the tunnel and into traffic. The car hit a curb before entering into traffic and went airborne. I in the third lane of southbound traffic. The vehicle then continued on through a grass median and across three lanes of northbound traffic, hitting another curb. At sone point during this accident, three of the tires popped and drivers side airbags did deploy. The popped tires appears to be the reason why the car finally came to a stop. It is only by the grace of god that I made it out alive. The airbag burned my torso. This accident occurred on 5/19/2023 at approximately 4:15 pm. X-rays and cat scans revealed no additional injuries. Currently, I am waiting to be seen by an orthopedic doctor for pain in ankles, lower back and stiffness at base of neck. My insurance company concluded the car as a total loss.

I was backing up a residential driveway. My backup camera showed my wheels were in line. My steering wheel turned and my car had a sudden unintended acceleration. My car destroyed a double steel garage door. Pushed a parked vehicle forward approximately 10-12”. The vehicle crushed a riding lawn mower, pushing the mower through a sheet rock wall. If anyone had been in this area of the garage, they could have possibly suffered serious injury or even fatality. I am trying to arrange to have my vehicle taken to local kia dealership for diagnostic testing. At this time, the vehicle has not been inspected. There were no warning signs that appeared and I did not hear my backup camera alert.

The contact owns a 2023 kia Sorento. The contact stated while driving 70 mph the vehicle slow down without the contact pressing on the brake pedal and the transmission error warning light illuminated. The contact was able to push the vehicle on the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was contacted but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 12,000. The VIN was not available.

Car was traveling from atlanta and the speed odometer on the car showed it was dropping then knock noise pull over then I made to exit and check oil guage the sensor lights never showed when I had picked up the person house I took to said it was crank sensor and started it heard knocking sound and I call NHTSA reported incident and was giving a claim number haven't heard anything since I no its recall on engine cause I had received paperwork that it was and also saw report on news.

I was driving my car on the highway and entered a ramp to another highway and as I began to accelerate again it was like my engine shut down and there was no response to the gas pedal for throttle. I pulled my car over to the side, sat for a moment, and then turned the car back on. I was able to accelerate, but if I accelerate too fast the engine would shut back down. I contacted kia and they said all recalls have been processed for my vehicle, but now out of nowhere it's hardly driveable. I am still forced to use this car for short distances under a couple miles for work, but the vehicle's engine will try to shut off over 2k rpms. I have maintenance records for every year with this vehicle and I don't get how this just happens. My mechanic says a knock sensor is telling the engine to turn off and my local kia store said there wouldn't be anything to do without a recall.

Doing speed limit of 70 lost power for no reason had 3 mo left 500 minutes from home on vacation towed home thank god was able to get off the free way . Tried getting kia to fix said since it was 3 . 3 engine not 4 cylinder the couldn't fix it. Same problem metal in oil and on dip stick see now 2017 3. 3 same problem someone going to get hurt or worse now I need a lawyer. Left no car and disabled.

It won't catch up speed it slips on the freeway. Once I pass 60 miles per hour it excelerates very high and rpm get stuck after I hit 50 miles per hour. There's a knocking noise coming from the engine and burns oil fast.

While driving at highway speed, the battery light and oil light came on and the throttle became unresponsive. The driver pulled over safely. The vehicle had to be restarted before the throttle became responsive again. The vehicle was taken to maguire kia service (ithaca, NY), where the engine was subsequently replaced.

I have owned my 2012 kia Sorento since 2014 and thoroughly enjoy my car. After 9 years of satisfactory ownership which include dealer servicing, my car scared me and now I question my safety. On Friday 24th, 2023, I pulled into my driveway and the car suddenly accelerated out of control. The brakes did nothing to slow its acceleration. By the time I reached the key and turned the car off it had accelerated thru 130 feet of a very muddy back yard. (the all-wheel drive is very effective) fortunately, I just missed a huge 100-year-old pecan tree and stopped just short of the tree line in the back. This ripped the tire off one of my rims and I had a mechanic change the spare so we could retrieve the car. I am taking the car to the kia dealer on Monday morning 27th. To find out what happened!!.

While driving with cruise control enabled, the cruise control suddenly disengaged and became inoperative, and the following warning lights (icons) and warning messages displayed on dashboard: > “check forward collision-avoidance assist system” warning message > master warning mode light > abs warning light > forward collision assist warning light > electronic stability control indicator light, and > auto hold indicator light. Vehicle continued to operate normally except for those error warnings; cruise control remained disengaged and inoperative. After pulling off the roadway, turning the vehicle off and restarting engine, vehicle operated normally, cruise control could be re-enabled normally, but eventually the same warning lights and warning messages displayed on dashboard and cruise control again disengaged and remained inoperative. This happened multiple times over a number of days. This error happens randomly, at various speeds, but only after cruise control has been engaged. After pulling off the roadway, I took pictures of the dashboard showing these error messages and warning icons to show dealership at appointment that has been scheduled later this week. On 02/03/2023 and once before, I stepped on brake to come to a stop and car accelerated to the point that braking took more distance to come to a stop. I called the kia dealer today and got an appointment which is scheduled for 02/09/2023 to have them inspect vehicle for problem. I read an article published 11/23/2021 by maeve rich on the motorbiscuit website that states the problem is with an issue with the throttle contol system. This problem nearly caused my to crash into car in front of me and could have been catastrophic if I had been going at a higher rate of speed and had to stop quickly. Resulting in loss of life or injuries to myself and others. My veehicle is available for inspection upon request. There were no warnings. The floor rug was not jammed under accelerator. The first time it happened was also when coming to a stop. At that time I wasnt sure why it happened. This time myself and my passenger both heard the engine revving while I was trying to brake.

I dropped my daughter off school, upon leaving and heading toward the freeway, I was unable to accelerate past 20mph, had a vehicle behind me almost hit me and my child because I lost forward acceleration and was unaware and could only use my hazards to signify that something was wrong and I wouldn't be able to make it up the hill. I then turned the vehicle off when I reached a safe place to pull over. Let it sit for 5 min, as this happened last year and was informed it was the throttle body, which was replaced. Upon turning vehicle back on, all seemed well, I drove toward the freeway again amd within 3 minutes the check engine light turned on and I lost power again. Was unable to drive more than 20mph we recently dealt with this exact issue with our 2013 kia optima and it was due to a recall and they replaced the engine as it was malfunctioning.

More often than not I’m finding I have to add oil to the car. It gives no warning the oil is low, no light, no smoke. The car starts to run a little hard so we check the oil. Each time we check the oil is low and needs more. We have gotten oil changes on the recommended schedule. Yet the problem still persists. Also I notice at times when pushing the gas to accelerate it almost seems hard to do.

While driving the car it failed to accelerate while pressing gas. It has happened 3 times. In each case it happened within approximately 5 min of driving, twice after idling for 10-15 min. The 'hybrid system warning-safely stop and do not drive' light came on but not immediately. The engine display in the car seemed to show that the engine was not sending any charge to the battery which was rapidly depleting. Stopping and restarting the engine clears the problem. A car that won't accelerate randomly is clearly a safety risk. I have taken it in to be checked, no resolution found, unable to reproduce the problem as it is very random. First time was probably 2-3 months after purchase. My son was driving so I didn't see first hand. Second time was about 3 months after. I did have kia check for codes after that event. Nothing found. And then about 3 weeks ago. Had kia check again. Error codes not saved in the system when car is stopped. Kia maintenance can take no action at this time. They requested I try take a picture of system activity next time it happens.

Headlights continually need replacing. We must replace headlights every few months. We have tried several brands of lights and regardless they go out. We have had all the lights go out at once while driving at night. Cruise control no longer works. I had the clock spring replaced but this did not fix the cruise. Seat warmer driver side seat warmer no longer engages. When the button is pressed, the indicator light flashes as if it will come on but never does.

To whom it may concern: I am sending this email as an owner of a 2019 kia Sorento for just 15 months, yet I am already experiencing significant mechanical issues. 3 weeks ago my car stopped accelerating while driving across a bridge, began shaking a making a weird noise once idle, and as expected my engine light came on. After calling endless kia dealers I was able to get it towed 2 weeks later to my local kia. To my surprise it was a high pressure fuel pump issue which seems to be a common issue amongst kia Sorento’s. After only having this car for 15 months it should not be costing me $1,700 in repairs. I am requesting that this issue be looked into further and that kia provides me with assistance.

10/25/2022 started the SUV at a wal-mart parking lot and as I drove out of the parking lot onto a street my SUV made a motorcycle sound then it started to loss power with my foot still on the gas pedal. SUV came to a complete stop and was towed home. 11/03/2022 picked up SUV from kia dealership. Drove 43 minutes home and parked inside garage. An hour later started the SUV to go pick up kids from school. The SUV wouldn't reverse out of the garage. I restarted the engine 4 times then it finally reverse out of the garage then when I put it on drive. There was no power to drive. I restarted the engine again 2 more times then it finally drive and I parked it back inside the garage. 11-04-2022 I attempted to drive SUV to kia dealership for help. I made it onto the freeway with a speed of 74 mph for about 8 minutes then my SUV started to loose power with my foot still on the gas pedal. I almost got rear ended by a big rig before I can even put my hazard light on and pulled safely to the side of the freeway. My SUV was towed into kia dealership that same day. 11-12-2022 picked up the SUV from kia, drove it 43 minutes then stopped at chevron to top off gas. When restarted the SUV my engine light came on the dash board. I drove it back to my house. I notified kia ASAP with a picture of my dash board and it's been in my garage since yesterday. Today is 11/13/2022. All incidents are not able to be duplicated by the dealership's mechanic everytime they had the SUV. No actions were taken. I showed them videos and picture of the proof that I do have but because it's not happening for them while they have my SUV. They can't fix my SUV problem. It's an accident waiting to happen and I already had a near miss on the freeway. An extremely concerned 2021 kia seronto owner.

Warning lights go crazy. Power steering goes out for several seconds. Rpms and speedometer go nuts or lay on zero. Sometimes I can’t shift into drive for several minutes. Sometimes it sounds and feels like (under the pedal, in acceleration) it’s losing power for a few seconds, almost like a slipping feeling but in power. The clock and profiles have reset overnight before where I had to reset clock and presets. Kia has had my car for many weeks already in January at just 2-3 thousand miles I’d say (I bought it brand new in October 2022). My dash cam was plugged in. They tried so many things…the “remedy” was to not use the dash cam a while to see if it happens again. After a few months, I plugged it back in. Issues returned. Took back to kia who said they’ll need it to do it again without dash cam in so I unplugged it that night. Issue has returned at least three times since then. I’ve sent video to kia and I guess I’m still waiting for them to get an extra loaner because they’ll need to keep it…when I went up there a couple weeks ago, I was told they didn’t have any loaners available so they would call me when they did.
