Windshield Problems of Kia Motor Sorento

The contact owns a 2021 kia Sorento. The contact stated that while having the front windshield replaced at the glass center, the contact was informed that the sensor did not fit in the bracket. The local dealer was contacted, and an oem windshield was ordered, but the sensor failed to fit in the bracket. The dealer referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline to report the failure. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was unknown.

I purchased my 2022 Sorento brand new in Dec 2021 and by end of January 2022 a small crack appeared near the top left corner (driver side) of the windshield near the edge; note the windshield is frameless/no cover or border on the glass. There is no indication that anything caused the crack; there is no indention as if anything hit it. I park in a private temperature controlled garage at my home. The crack has grown diagonally across the front of my entire windshield at this point since the dealership refused to help and I was quoted 1,300 to replace which is unfair.   I am driving a 2022 which is visibly unsafe and who has an extra $1,000 to fix a defective windshield on top of paying a car note. This is a inconvenience and a safety issue because of my increased risk of crash or injury. I have seen numerous posts about this problem which indicates this is not just a me problem. I believe my windshield cracking is a defect caused by the manufacturer and I should not be responsible for the repair.

On Monday 7/26/2021 I heard a popping sound and discovered that the windshield of my 2021 kia Sorento sx sustained an approximate 2–3 inch starburst sized crack that proceeded to spread overnight while parked in the garage. The crack increased to about 6 inches long. The crack is topmost more on the driver’s side, initiating a pinpoint exactly on the edge of the middle black patterned grid directly to the left of the rear view mirror mounting. While inspecting the crack this morning , running my fingers along the damage glass both inside and out, I could not feel any divots. The glass to the touch was as smooth as silk. I am concerned about the possibility of a factory defect due to the recall of 2019 kia telluride windshields. This car is only 6 months old.

The contact owns a 2011 kia Sorento. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph, she heard a popping noise and the rear windshield shattered. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and they were in the process of diagnosing the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact owns a 2006 kia Sorento. The front window continued to develop frost in the passenger compartment. The contact noticed stress fractures on the windshield from within the vehicle. While making a right turn at 5 mph, the contact noticed additional cracks in the window. The contact is unable to see out of the front window due to the damage. The insurance company will authorize that the window be replaced. The dealer diagnosed the failure twice and charged the contact $50 per visit. They also stated that the windshield was not covered by the warranty and she should have done her research prior to purchasing the vehicle. The contact lives in a state where it snows frequently. She is currently unable to drive the vehicle when it snows due to the linkage between the steering and rear end of the vehicle, which prevents proper traction.
