Engine Shut Off Without Warning problems of the 2015 Kia Motor Soul

Tl the contact owns a 2015 kia Soul. While driving 50 mph on a two lane road, the contact heard a loud boom and the engine shut off. The vehicle was able to cruise to the destination, which was a short distance away. The vehicle was purchased at emerling Ford (150 s cascade dr, springville, NY 14141, (716) 592-4949) and they quoted $7,000 to replace the engine. The contact found out that the 100,000 mile warranty for kia did not transfer to a secondary owner. The contact was sold a warranty extension by the dealer when she purchased the vehicle. The dealer admitted that they never called the manufacturer to find out if the warranty transferred to the contact. The manufacturer had not been contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 71,300.

While driving loose of power, followed by engine tapping. Check oil very low (just had oil changed, and I double checked after service. ) restarted and tapping turned into clacking engine shut off, not one warning light, unable to brake without pushing super hard and steering became hard too. Had toed to house once cooled down was able to restart drove it maybe 800 feet and it died unable to start. Had it towed to shop was told lower end of motor bad needs new motor. I have read a lot of complaints of similar nature on heat and on carcomplaints. Com. Why no recall this is dangerous. Luckily I'm an experienced driver and not going to fast. Would hate to see this happen to less experienced drive or at a higher speed on a curvy road.

The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road where an independent mechanic stopped by and checked the oil. The technician attempted to restart the vehicle, but was unsuccessful as smoke appeared from the engine. The vehicle was towed to all star kia east (225-490-7679, located at 27700 juban rd, building 3, denham springs, la 70726) where it was diagnosed that there was a hole in the engine. The dealer recommended a new short block be installed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 69,704.

Car is equipped with eco-boost and active "intermittant stop and go" system, which is active every start cycle unless "deactivate" button is engaged. Car has been driven by 18 year old daughter for 3,000 miles in 6 months. The engine has shut down and not been able to be restarted on 2 separate occasions. Both times the isg system switch was depressed, the system was deactivated,and the car was stationary. The second time the car shut down was at a very busy intersection, my daughter is a new driver-she was hysterical. Dealer claims there is nothing wrong with the car, they are saying it is operator error. I have told them that she always deactivates the isg every time she starts the car. She has seen the "deactive" light go out several times while driving the car. This is a very dangerous situation. We were not told by the dealer about the isg system when we purchased the car, if we had known about it, we would not have bought it. I feel there might be a software problem that is causing uncommanded shut down. Dealer cannot find a problem with the car. I am an airline aircraft mechanic with 30 years experience on boeing jets, and have been working on cars for 40 years.
