Kia sold me a 2016 kia Soul that does not have "immobilizer" software. Kia's cheezey solution is a steering wheel lock. Of note, Hyundai is now offering software updates that install immobilizer function. Thought kia and Hyundai are one company. So, I have a vehicle that can easily be stolen if I park it anywhere except in my locked garage. Thus far, no good solution from kia nor from the dealership where I purchased my 2016 Soul. I bought this vehicle in good faith which now is crumbling.
While driving on the NJ turnpike at night time, I went to change from the right lane into the middle lane and the car stalled not able to pick up speed. As the car stalled there was a fast moving truck which was coming and that was able to switch lanes forcing me to move into the last lane which made the cars behind me have to come to a sudden stop. I then had to put on my hazards and slowly move back over to the shoulder. Once completely stopped I shut off the engine. After waiting for some time I started the car again, but nothing changed. I remained in the right lane with hazards on and drove the car not being able to go above 40 mph. Eventually the car got back to driving normal right before arriving home which was about a 40 to 50 minute ride. The car was taken to the dealership and I learned that the catalytic converter needs to be replaced. This is after taking this car to be looked at twice and being told that there was nothing found. Now I find that there is a recall on the car (NHTSA 19v120000), but it says that my vehicle is not amongst the vehicles recalled.
While sitting in traffic my car began to shake and then stalled and turned off. It was able to restart and then later while driving down the interstate it began to stop accelerating when I pressed the gas. Fortunately I was able to make it to the shoulder from the left lane as car slowed to a stop and the break pedal locked up. The car would not turn on any more. After mechanic inspection, they reported that a piston had melted in the engine and because the oil had dried up, even though the car had its last oil change two months ago.
8/1/20 driving on hwy 231 at 65mph when my car felt like it was stalling, pulled over and turned engine off. It would crank but only go approximately 20 mph or rev to about 2000 rpm, then just putter out. At tuffys where it was said "nothing was coding". Said needed knew fuel pump for $1600. That was replaced but was not the issue. He said there is an active recall associated w/ car and to get it to the local kia dealership. I immediately started researching an found recall 19v120000, I called kia 800# and was told there was no recall associated w/ car and that their search is VIN specific and was no active recalls on this car. I continued to research, called back and yes indeed there was a recall. Car arrived there Friday 8/7/20 at 9:30 am. Spoke w/ chuck and was not given any details though I called him daily. Following Friday(8/14/20) I spoke w/ jared who said they wern't sure but it was looking like possibly a recall issue but that they weren't sure and to call back and they could get me set up w/ a rental car because the engine likely needed replacing. An hour and a half later a women left me a voicemail asking me to get receipts of all oil changes done on vehicle. I still had no explanation on what was wrong with my car. Gave 2 receipts but was not really sure the pertinence if this was a manufacture recall. Kia says the only recall was for a system update. When asked him if this had been done he said no. But I had previously been told by robert at 1800 kia that this had been done. I told jared this and he said "we probably just told tech support that" when I demanded to know if system update had been done he put me on hold, then replied '"OH well that was just done". He said but none of this has anything to do w/ ur car. When asked wtf the actal problem was he said engine was knocking due to my lack of maintenance and needed a new engine but in no way due to a recall.

Driving to work from lunch my car stalled and then completely stopped in the middle of the road. The engine light started flashing and then my car started to move again but it was sluggish and slow. It wont go past 45 miles before slowing all the way down. I had got my car recalled three days before, they said nothing was wrong with the engine/transmission at the time of the recall. Now three day later my cars stuck in limp mode showing a p0326 code.
I was driving and everything seemed fine. I parked and turned off the vehicle to pick up my kid from daycare and as I was driving back home the vehicle started to stall and run high rpms. I was going about 20mph but was at 4,000 rpms. I was able to make it home and parked the car and called the dealership to have it looked at. After checking the car they found it had a bad catalytic converter and faulty battery. The converter was covered on warranty thankfully but ended up paying $600 for a battery and labor. Vehicle was purchased from the dealership with one previous owner and approximately 40k miles on it.

I was driving and my 2016 kia Soul stalled in the middle of the highway the car behind me almost crashed into me and begin beeping. When I pushed on the gas it would hesitate giving me just enough to get to the side of the ride. This is the second time this has happened the first time the dealer repaired the long engine block free of charge at 66,000 miles this time the dealer told me it's the same exact thing wrong but I am responsible for the repairs. They also said I don't have regular oil changes but I have receipts from both kia dealerships that I have my car serviced but they only are going by there records from they dealership, I do see there was a recall (sc176)on the engines Feb 2019 and want to know if and why my vehicle is not included in the recall. My first complaint about my engine was 2 months after purchasing it. To have your car stall in the middle of a highway is very scary and a hazard to everyone.
At first there was a gurgle that started when accelerating. Then the vehicle would stall out when put in drive. Following that, when parked if I turn on and off the a/c the car will accelerate itself, I've only let it reach 4rpm before I shut it off the ignition because it doesn't go down on it's own. I've had it looked at and I was told there was an extreme amount of oil inside my engine and it's just a matter of time till it dies. This problem was recently recalled for engines a year make before mine. But I am having the same issues.
My Soul has been over heating, stalling, and back firing, even had smoke come from engine 2 times. Has been in shop over 7 times for thermostat issue, that they said they can not fix . Plus my car has been in a number of times for it not having any get up and go . It has to be really fast to go up hills . On highway or main roads .
