I was on a two-hour drive when the car started making odd noises and the automatic gears did not seem to be syncing/shifting correctly with my acceleration. I had to pull over off the highway several times. Then the check engine light came on. That's when it started to get really bad. I was over an hour away from home driving up to a courthouse to file a petition that was on a deadline. So I called the local kia dealership and explained what was happening. I asked them if it was safe to keep driving and whether the engine was going to blow up. The man with whom I spoke said he knew what was probably wrong with the car because it was not "uncommon" but he could not tell me any details because of the "warranty. " however, he said I was safe to keep driving. I was not, in fact, safe to keep driving. The transmission died when I was going 75mph on the highway. The car is now in the service department at the kia dealership in burlington, nc, waiting for a new transmission that is now on backorder. This was a brand new car, and it literally almost killed me. The man at the service barely batted an eye. You would think I was getting my oil changed. I could not believe how matter-of-fact he was when he described how "common" this problem is in the new kias. This should not ever be a "common problem" for any brand new vehicle. This is absolutely infuriating and completely disturbing. I don't even have any paperwork on this. The dealership had me picked up by enterprise and gave me literally nothing. I will be calling them tomorrow morning when they open to request this documentation.

November 25th on my way to work I started hearing a rattle while driving on hwy 30. About a mile from my house. The noise didn't seam to be present while rpm was under 3,000rpm so I decided to be cautious of rpm and not push my car too much that morning. As I pulled into the parking lot the engine stopped, and the oil light flickered. I started the car and parked it. After work the car started fine but as I pulled into the road I heard the rattle again so I went to the nearest place I could to buy oil. Before checking I purchased a quart and found out I had enough oil in the car. The rattle was still present so I purchased oil, filter and decided no harm would come from refreshing the oil in the car. I kept my rpm under 3,000 on my way home and experienced some sudden speed shifts while using cruise control, but kept a slow and steady pace. At the top of a hill near my home the engine made some louder noises and stopped that is the first time the check engine light came on. I bumped the car into neutral and costed into my driveway. I later towed my car to it's parking spot, not wanting to make a potential issues worse. After consulting with a mechanic, he. Suggested an oil change may be the first action to fix the issues. I changed the oil in place and recorded my attempts to start the vehicle after. Mechanic consultant said the first attempt after oil change sounded like a knock that he did not think would be a long term issue. But the second attempt started into a lower rod knock and advised to not attempt to start the car again until it's in a shop with proper diagnostic equipment.

When I accelerate my car makes a loud humming noise and will not shift - then when it finally does shift it fluctuates speed and doesn't maintain speed. It's not safe gettin on the expressway or when you change lanes and try to keep up with traffic around you. At first it would be sometimes. Now it is more constant.

When using the auto start and stop feature when releasing the brake and the engine cranks back I hear a strange noise that sounds like a cat squalling when the engine starts. This doesn't happen when your not using auto start. Plus when you shift into park while stoped it doesn't make this noise. My wife also has the same issue with her car same year modle and make. No clue I fear this maybe related to the transmission. As when placing in park it doesn't make the noise when you release the brakes. My wife's car has less than 12000 miles and mine has 6000 miles and it's starting to make the noise. Seems to happen more when hard braking occurs . Sound is comming from the drivers side of the car.
I was driving home and car was making a noise. Sounded like a truck. I check the oil and it was very low and dark. It had recently got an oil change. I put in 3 quarts and then it was at the right level. It stopped making the noise. But I smell gas from the tailpipe. This was before it sounded like a truck. I stepped on thee gas and the car barely moves. Then the check engine light showed up it was misfire codes multiple cylinder. I hear a loud hissing sound like a turbo or some sort of exhaust leak. Bad mileage burns a quart of oil every two days. The transmission does not shift too and it misfires.

My kia Soul is having identical issues to NHTSA campaign number 19v120000which led to recall sc176 by kia which only covered the 1. 6l models, not the 2. 0l which is the vehicle I drive. I experienced a loss of power and loud knocking type sound while driving. I was traveling approximately 30-35 m/h on a city street. I did not notice a check engine or oil light during this event. I checked my oil level and I had no oil showing on the dip stick. I filled the oil reservoir with the correct oil type and drove home less than a mile. The vehicle would not accelerate as normal. No smoke was noticed coming from the engine. I contacted kia customer service and was given a case number (13392784), and directed to bring the vehicle into the dealership for a diagnostics check. A similar incident occurred one other time where the engine again burned all of the oil, with no signs of a leak on with the engine of the ground where the car is parked. The oil has been monitored regularly since this first incident. The oil has been changed on several occasions and no oil leaks has been noticed. From my research into this issue these symptoms line up with what the affected vehicles experienced before they were recalled. The loss of power, engine noise and shifting difficulties first occurred on October 13, 2019. I asking this case be looked into and see if the scope of the recall did not cover all vehicles potentially at risk. The milage is approximately 74,000 miles.
