Vehicle Shudder Problems of Kia Motor Soul

The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but did not assist. The failure mileage was approximately 123,947.

Tl-the contact owns a 2013 kia Soul. The contact stated while driving 55-60 mph the vehicle was shaking and failed to accelerate. The check engine warning light was flashing. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where informed there were grooves in the engine block. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted however no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 190,000. Ap.

In July 2020 I was helping the national guard in the covid-19 response and on my way to the unit, I drove for about 3 minutes on the highway and then my car stalled. I was going 63 mph and then 40 mph. I had to pull over and was a little stunned as it was very dangerous to do so. I eventually was able to pull over safely. I towed my car to firestone and they said the exhaust manifold had to be changed. I paid over $800 for this. On September 7, 2020, my car stalled again. I was driving on the masspike on cruise control at 65 mph and when tried to increase my speed to switch lanes, the car did not accelerate. I then, let go of the pedal and tried to press it again, except this time, my car accelerated but the car was shaking. My engine light was blinking and then when I got to a point to stop, my car shut off on me. In both scenarios, I got my oil changed right before the issues. In July I did the oil change and three days later my car stalled. In August I got my oil changed and my car stalled two weeks later on sept. 7th. Now my entire engine has to be replaced and that costs over $8000! this is ridiculous and I will never buy a kia again. They wont even tell me how it happened because they don't know how it happened. So the cause is unknown. I cannot believe this happened. I bought the car used in 2018 at 35,000 miles and now it is at 125,000 miles. It looks like the only option is to fork out $8,000 or to throw out the car! kia will not cover anything wrong with it and they say it has nothing to do with the recall but the symptoms of the car are an exact replica of what is happening with the recall. Maybe they just do not want to admit that the engines are defective. I have seen so many complaints about this and nothing good happens. Kia, you should be ashamed of yourselves for allowing this to go on for so long.

I was having issues with a prior recall, concerning the catalytic converters and overheating. (potentially leading to a stall / engine fire) I took my car to the shop and was told they had ran the upgrade and my car was mechanically sound. Throughout the following year, I had contacted kia over my car acting strange and not allowing me to accelerate while going down the road on several occasions. The car maxed out between 25-35 mph on major highways 4 times to date. I kept taking it in and they done inspections, the car appeared in good mechanical shape. Exactly 2-3 days after picking my car up, it stalled on me again, resulting in 3 semi trucks almost colliding into me. My speed went from 75mpg down to 30mph on a 70mph interstate. After the upgrade, my engine would randomly start making a chirping sound / ticking sound. Several misfire codes presented themselves throughout this time and yet nothing was found stored in the cars computer. Kia stated it was recall related at one point and when the engine stalled the last round, the engine and car started shuddering down the interstate and now the engine has a loud knocking noise coming from it (threw piston / rod) and kia will not assist in the inspection of this safety recall issue. Kia has had me pay several times for inspections and towing to date. Hundreds of other owners have experienced these problems after they received the ecu logic upgrade and also prior to receiving it. Kia stated they were not exactly sure about my issues and that they have not received any other reports from owners concerning these matters. However, bbb and several online sources can confirm that others have experienced these exact same problems. I almost lost my life on 4 different occasions due to these safety issues. I went to start the vehicle up on March 2, 2020. I turned the ignition, car turned on and started to violently shake the entire vehicle. I turned it off, check oil level (it's a new vehicle and just had an oil change) oil level was good. I turned it on again, car went to 1. 5 rpms, then died (0rpms). I took the key out, waited a while, and started it back up again. Turned on just fine, but this time with the check engine light on. Had kia road side service tow it the following morning to hanlees in davis. I haven't been given much information as to what was wrong with the car. After 2 weeks of them trying to figure out what was going on, I got a call saying that kia has authorized to drop a whole new engine in the vehicle and my car would be ready in a week. I called today, March 19, and they still haven't received the engine, so I'm still without a vehicle. I am moving across the us in a week from now, and have to cancel the move because my car is still not ready and the dealership will not ship my vehicle once it is finished. It has been almost a month, and I'm stuck in this lease for another 3. 5 years.

When placed in drive, and gas pedal is depressed the car jerks forward and back and will not accelerate. It shakes the whole car. . Does it if car is cold or hot but seems to happen more when car is not full hot. Unsafe when pulling into traffic.

Had the transmission serviced after having vehicle in multiple times for the engine vibration on 8/18/2018. Car continued to vibrate. Took car to another dealership to have it looked at. The recommended fuel injection and oil change. I had this work performed in September 2018. Drove vehicle and my oil light came on. Pulled over and noticed car was extremely low on oil. Added oil and drove to find a parts store to have put on a machine and never made it. Car started hesitating and squealing and I pulled over and had it towed. Service mechanic said no way should it be that low on oil after just having serviced a month ago and that oil was very black even after he added some indicating work the last dealership said they did had not been performed. Now needs new motor and unsure where the oil that was in the vehicle went to. Left me on side of road with children and no help yet from kia other than you need to figure out how to get it to a dealership per their consumer affairs person jacob! this was on highway 74 east right outside of sylva, nc.

At 10000mi, this car lost pick- up, then charging outlets failed. By 30000mi, the brakes were mushy and weak, the engine makes noise, steering issues and weird smells started to occur. By 45000mi, the brake light failed, vibration/shaking, hesitation and lurching (on its own), gas millage was cut in half, rmps/idle unusually high, faulty/ failed sensors, fuel gauge failure, heating/blower failure. Dealerships will not look into anything without a "code" tripping, and I was told by their mechanic that kia corporate will not allow any investigation of issues without a diagnostic code, so my warranty woun't cover the high price of finding the issues. I get in the car, start it up and the noise and rev is not normal. I drive 10 feet and the car starts shaking and making noise. When I tried to turn on the heat, loud noises started under the hood, and the engine would rev, when the car revved, the heat would kick on for 2 sec then fall out again. It now doesn't perform at all. When I accelerate after a stop light, it won't move for several seconds, then putters and goes. I have almost gotten into many accidents because of this.

My car hesitates when I round a corner or turn on to a highway one day a truck was behind a 18 wheeler scared me and my passenger. Now for the last few months this car is shaking all the time not only when I stop but even when I am drive kia in athens GA say they can not do anything about it. They say this is natural to happen . No this is not natural it is embarrassing and scary. I do not want this car anymore and I really do not like putting other people lives in danger in a 3 year old car. I have tried talking to them -they are not listening they keep saying it up to the company in atlanta. If anything happen to me in this car I told my family to suite the socks off of kia.

The vehicle was taken again to the dealer where it was diagnosed the fuel injectors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 14,000.
