My wife was driving with my kids when there sounded like an explosion and the sunroof exploded. There was nothing around that hit the glass and we haven't been involved in any accidents that may have compromised the integrity of the glass. The sound sounds like an explosion and luckily when it scared my wife while driving, she didn't jerk the wheel and flip the vehicle. Also, thankfully the sunroof shade was closed otherwise glass would have exploded everywhere inside the vehicle hitting my kids and wife. It appears that it explodes up and in the middle of the sunroof by looking at how the glass was missing. It seems this is a common occurrence with the 2021 kia Telluride. There's no warning, no cracking, no signs of it going to bust; it just does it. I'm going rounds with kia to get it fixed but the keep sending me down an endless rabbit hole, so I have in the meantime I paid out of pocket for it. Because I paid out of pocket for it after I was told I could by cooperate I could and then be reimbursed, which is not accurate, kia doesn't want to inspect the car. The only thing the dealerships tell us is yeah, they've seen this happen before.

My sunroof randomly exploded upward while driving down the highway. No rock or debris hit me. It sounded like a gunshot. I checked my surroundings and no other car pulled over or look like it was affected by any road debris. I have pictures of the sunroof being shattered upward.

My wife was driving 37mph in town at 1:40pm on a afternoon. When she hears an apparent "gunshot", it was not a gunshot. Her forward sunroof had exploded. She had the sunshade closed thankfully so she did not get hit with any glass. Her vehicle was not hit by anything. The glass looks like it was forced from the inside, blowing the glass outwards. We took her vehicle to our local dealership. They vacuumed up the glass shards, and then taped the remaining glass on both sides, and also covered the roof until repairs can be made. Dealership is filing for warranty, but awaiting approval.

Sunroof/moonroof will no longer close. It is stuck in the open position and this will cause water to enter the cabin if it rains. The vehicle was examined by the dealer and they confirmed that a component is fault and will need to be replaced. No warning lamps or additional symptoms were noticed prior to the sunroof malfunctioning. The vehicle only has 44,100 miles.
Sunroof track broken, causing it unable to be closed. Dealer covered with tape until parts able to be ordered approx. 5 days later. Tape flew off while driving on highway with potential for an accident.
Tonight I tried to open my sunroof for some fresh air while relaxing in my vehicle. My sunroof made some weird cracking noises and is jammed open. I only used my sunroof 2 to 3 times. However, it's in the stuck position and sounds like crushing glass when I try to open it. My rear right passenger folds down on its own. My grandson has been folded into the seat multiple times. I contact kia and got no resolution. This is dangerous. I went to retrieve my backpack from my backseat yesterday and when I set the sear back it made a auto sound, it slid completely forward hitting me in my face. The seat ejects by itself often and it a safety risk to my family and I. I checked kia forums only to find this is an huge issue and spoked about hundreds of times involving Telluride and sorento models. I'm afraid my sunroof glass with break.
The panoramic sunroof hinges on my vehicle snapped and a part of the assembly fell and hit me in the head while I was driving.
Went to open the sunroof and the track mechanism cracked. Now it is stuff half open, off the track and dangerous to drive with. It is unable to open/close anymore than it is now. Looking online I see 20+ complaints in two different kia Telluride forums about the same issue, with no apparent reason.
I was driving down the highway at 65mph and my 2024 kia Telluride sunroof violently imploded. I pulled over thinking I was shot at by a gun, but there was no evidence that I was hit by something. It felt like an explosion next to my face. Very loud! I have 490 miles on this vehicle. I have called kia dealership and they are going to investigate and call me back. No warnings went off in the vehicle and I was not harmed but I do have anxiety now. Worried it will happen again once fixed. I honestly felt like this was a safety issue and so I went online only to find this has happened to others all over. Not sure how this has happened to so many others and there is no recalls. Please help me understand. This was very scary.

Sunroof exploded.
The sunroof exploded. I was driving on the freeway and the sunroof glass completely shattered leaving only a few fragments on the perimeter. No debris hit the car. There was no one in front of me and I was not passing under a bridge, etc. The sun shade was closed so most of the glass flew into the air outside rather than coming inside. The shock of the sound was an issue but I maintained control of the car. The glass shards hit the cars behind me but luckily they appeared to be small enough that I did not see anyone have issues from the flying glass. I drove straight to the dealership where my service is done. They inspected the car and, after 2 days, told me that they could not do anything without kia corporate getting involved and approving the replacement. There were no warnings prior to this issue that there was anything wrong with my sunroof.
