I have looked at blogs on the internet. This seems to be a recurring problem. The dashboard is now split on both sides of the passenger airbag. It cannot be repaired because it might affect the integrity of the airbag. This feels unsafe to me since I feel that the air bag could deploy at any time without impact.

Passenger side dashboard has cracking around the airbag system. I took it to three independent ulpolstery shops and they all decline to perform any repair due to safety/liability concerns. They say it is fairly common for my year/make/model vehicle. I'm fearful that this presents some issues with airbag deployment, or may simply be a design flaw by landrover.

This is what I sent to Land Rover USA last night. Have not heard from them yet. "my 2004 Range Rover suddenly accelerated at a very high speed for a few seconds while I was parking causing damage to the car and property. Also none of the airbags deployed even though the impact was severe. I would like to be informed of any such issues and what steps were taken to correct them. I would also like to know what recourse I have. I will be contacting the NHTSA to get their input. " after the shock wore off I had a closer examination of the incident and I am now positive that the acceleration was not by me. There is evidence(skid marks) to show that brake was applied from the very beginning. I would appreciate it if the NHTSA can further investigate this incident. I have the car at the place of the incident and nothing has yet been touched. Thank you.
