Land Rover Range Rover owners have reported 4 problems related to check engine light on (under the engine and engine cooling category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
I bought a 2010 sports range roover from autobaun in san diego calif 92120. I day I took possession of it severely over heated without any safety lights coming on. We pulled over then slowly advanged the car to the dealership three miles away. At the dealership and beyond it was confirmed that the engine and the coolant system had blown and the cost of repair is $35,000. The sale man has a felong conviction for roll backs and also for drug laundering so he should not have been allowed a dealers license. Then engine is blowns trottles blown and there is some coolant sibsatance noted in the coolant system. No warning lights went on. Dealer amar sold me a warranty representing it would fix anything for two years. The warranty service said he sold me a limited warranty and that since it happened on day one and there was a mickey mouse repair of the coolant system attempted that the dealer knew about the problem. Also the fax report shows a different describtion of the vehicle them the one sitting in my driveway. Owner refuses to refund money, send me registration nor invalid warranty money. Car engine is shot. No warning lights re hot , need for service or engine light ever came on. My son's friend had only been driving the vehicle one and one half hours when he they noticed steam coming from the front of the vehcile. No check engine light came on. Nothing until the steaming. The car was being driven for the first time on the interstate at appropriately 60 mph when it started steaming. Has there been a recall of the car for no warning lights, coolant system or engine or trottle problems? I later obtained information that this car was sold as a grey color yet the car we have is white?.

Check engine light is on. Took truck through inspection and it failed. Took truck to Range Rover dealer, paid for diagnostic test ($120. 38) and was told there was an air leak. Paid $723. 53 drove about 1 block and the light came on again. Turned around and took truck back to dealer. They said they did something to fix the problem. The next day, the check engine light came back on. Have been to the cherry hill, NJ dealer 5 times, spent hours waiting and can't drive my truck because the check engine light is still on and my inspection sticker has expired. Won't be going back to the cherry hill dealer. Took truck to the shop recommended by the NJ inspection department and was told the catalytic converter at right front weld is cracked . I have paper work to show it was still under extended warranty for 11 yrs/120,000 miles. How can this issue be resolved? please respond. Thank you.

While driving locally, in the neighborhood engine check light came on. Called dealer who told consumer to bring the car in. Was about 4 miles from home and the temperature gauge registered hot. Stopped immediately, called aaa and had it towed. Was told by dealer that the number one engine cylinder dropped into the piston because it moved, allowing anti-freeze to get into the engine.
