I made a call to Lexus dealership of sacramento and spoke to representative she had also confirm the recal on my car and booked me an appointment several days later. I went to my appointment and was denied my services, they told me it had expired and that I had to pay for all my repairs. I was never notified about any recalls. I feel like I was rip off for being 17years old kid. I felt cheated.

To make matters worse my ac is on and I can't turn off because of the buttons are not working. Very frustrating and I'm freezing.

I have a 2006 Lexus when I checked the VIN it shows a recall for the air bag but online also shows if the car is 10 years older the repairs will have to be made by the owner meaning I have to pay for it. . This is a safety issue another thing I notice is the interior door panel is sweating something and gets hazy and wet looking when my nail hits it it leaves a mark. I normally have kids in the car the air bags is a big problem if not fixed soon and it hits 2017 I will have to pay for repairs. . My dash on my car is shiny and sticky from the defected meterial it is made out of and causes glare from the windshield when driving. Door panels are also leaving sticky residue behind on my hands when I touch the door panel. The contact owns a 2006 Lexus is 250. The contact stated that the dashboard and the all the door panels melted. In addition, there was a black rubbery substance on the surface. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 43,745.
The dashboard over the instrument panel and the front and rear side door panels are melting, cracking and deteriorating which causes dents in the material to the touch. All of the material is discolored and sticky or melting. This needs to be replaced immediately and a recall needs to be dictated by the NHTSA ASAP. Lexus notified me of the problem almost a year ago, and when I called they told me it would take another 9 to 10 months before they could replace the dashboard and side door panels. So, it would be over a 1 or more years since the original Lexus notice that they maybe can fix the problem. This is unacceptable and this is why the NHTSA needs to demand Lexus initiates a official recall for the affected vehicles with the melting dashboard and side door panel issues.
The dash is melting. And the door panels are releasing black tar like materials.

The panels of the doors and the board of the car are melting with the sun. Moving and parked.
Melting dash - I have the Lexus "melting dash" problem on my Is250 and have waited for 1 1/2 years, with no resolution. My local dealership says they have not received any dashes for over 6 months and have no idea when they might arrive. My dash has melted into a slick blob and that become a significant safety hazard. When driving during the day, the sun reflects on this melted surface and blinds the driver. I have notified cerritos Lexus and Lexus corporate of this safety issue. Forcing customers to drive unsafe vehicles with no expectation of when a solution is available is unacceptable. This should be listed as a recall due to the driver/passenger safety concerns. What am I supposed to do? I'm telling my wife not to drive unless it's an emergency.
I noticed a black spot in my rear view mirror one day and did not think anything of it, however the one spot turned into multiple streaks. It's getting harder to see out of the mirror which to me is a safety issue. I noticed that there are many complaints on this issue and there should be a recall on this defect as well. I have to make an appointment for the recalls on the melting dashboard and doors and engine. Lexus should really take care of this problem. I have purchased several new vehicles however I have had more problems with this car than I did with my other cars.
On Dec. 2, 2014, I was entering a walgreen's parking lot in my leased 2014 Lexus is 250, which I had owned for only 4 months with 1740 miles. Moving at 5mph or less, I turned the wheel to enter a parking space, when the car suddenly accelerated and took off. I pressed the brakes to the floor and nothing happened. The car jumped up over a planted median filled with bushes, trees and a phone pole. The front tires became lodged in mud and that stopped the car. I missed the telephone pole by less than 1 foot. Luckily, I had an individual witness the entire episode. I telephoned Lexus emergency services and Lexus customer relations immediately. The car had to be removed from the median by a tow company and was taken to the dealership where purchased. After examining the car from Dec. 3-Dec. 10, the dealership claims there is body damage but no mechanical problem with the car. The dealer called on Dec. 10 saying the car was ready to be picked up. I noted inaccurate data in the service report from what I told the service manager originally, and I was given no information as to follow-up on this matter. I was simply told that Lexus corporate had been out to see the underside damage to the vehicle. (front bumper, paint, cracks on base of bumper), and that I would hear from them in 10 days. I called Lexus corporate and was told that the matter is now in the legal dept. And that it would be far more than 10 days for a response. Rather, I could expect a call in 4/6 weeks or longer. I am now driving a leased vehicle that I am very scared to operate, not knowing when a similar incident could occur where I could be killed or injure or kill someone else. Lexus, particularly the dealership, appears to be wanting to distance themselves as far from possible from finding a suitable resolution.
The contact owns a 2006 Lexus is 250. The contact stated that the dashbard melted and became sticky and shiny. As a result, the reflection of the sunlight caused a glare on the front windshield. The glare distorted the contact's visibility when driving. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.
Approximately 2 years ago my entire dash board and side panels started to melt. I have contacted Lexus and they continue to say they are waiting on the manufacturer for parts. I live in marrero louisiana with extremely high humidity and temperatures. This has been a safety hazard. When the sun hits my windshield, the glare from hitting the melted dash completely blinds me. I have to lean to the right side just to see out of my windshield. It is melted to the point of it being untouchable without getting sticky glue on your hands. Anything that rubs against the side door panels creates grooves and marks because it's like clay. Now theres a recall with the takata inflators in the front passenger airbag which really concerns me because its affected by high temperatures and humidity causes degrading of the part. Since my dash board is completely melted to the consistency of hot glue, I can't imagine that helps with my airbag situation either. I have been contacting Lexus for the past 2 years with no luck. If I should have an accident due to the dash glare, I will expect to have the production company held accountable. Any help you can offer with getting this message across to anyone at this point would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
We recently bought a used Lexus is 250 2006, and shortly after buying noticed two huge problems. This is extremely disappointing because, as first time Lexus buyers, we were expecting to be impressed by the quality of the Lexus brand. Now we're concerned because both of these problems are widely report by others from the hot, sunny south. 1. The rear-view mirror is distorted in such a way that it doesn't provide a clear view. We didn't notice this before we bought because the lady we bought it from had a vanity mirror with little diamonds over top of the regular mirror. Since it matched the vanity license tag that she had and since she was an interior designer, we didn't suspect at all that it was covering up a huge safety issue. The vanity mirror obstructed safe driving and it was a horrible mirror, and when I took it off, I found that the Lexus mirror underneath was laden with black/brown blotches, making it very difficult to see traffic behind me. 2. The melting dash is shiny and creates a glare on the windshield that makes it difficult to clearly see out the front windshield. I didn't notice this on our short test drive before we bought the car, but on my way home from buying the car, it was a bright, sunny day and the glare from the sun shining from the dash and reflecting up onto the windshield was horrible. The glare caused me to reach up to touch the dash to see what was causing the glare and I found the dash tacky and soft. The stickiness is a major concern as well, but the biggest problem is that it is a safety issue. Not being able to clearly see out of the front and the back of the vehicle is putting many lives in danger. I hope Lexus doesn't wait until there are injuries and deaths reported as a result of these manufacturer's defects. We want to love this brand, but this type of un-recalled defect is causing us to doubt our choice of a Lexus vehicle.
